I was looking at some 2011 archive charts on the OCC website and noticed that at one point this song rose from #22 to #3. Does anyone here know what day of the week this song was originally released? it seems strange for a song released on a Sunday to make this kind of jump.

 

As someone else said, it was released ages before.

 

The song was just a very instant hit I guess. I remember the first time I heard it, it was on Radio 1 early in the morning when I was on the way to work. Only took a few radio plays for it to go shooting up the charts (I can't remember if the video was out at that point or not, but either way it increased in sales very fast).

It was released a few months before it actually got popular (due to the video going viral), so it didn't have a typical held-back release type run

A song like Party Rock Anthem would have certainly been #1 on the shazam chart if it existed then. The shazam chart is made for unusual sounding songs like this.

Oh no, I thought it was 2 weeks! Capital and Kiss keep playing Boom Clap, which isn't a great help.

 

In general, though, even though it's wonderfully produced, it really isn't her best effort. I think the lyrics 'getting high and getting wrecked' are really childish and off-putting. I do want this to be a hit though, because I love XCX and want her whole album campaign to be fully supported.

I hope the Vamps can achieve their 5th top 10 hit with oh cecilia.
