December 21, 201410 yr I can't argue with Mark winning, he's been the biggest part of the process this year and he did incredibly well in the final task, no real slip-ups at all in comparison to Bianca. But both were strong candidates, and Bianca I hope does well with that idea. Huh, guess that's bye bye Nick, really going to miss him in future series. :(
December 21, 201410 yr I think the only way Mark would've mucked that up is if he'd 'drop his bundle' with the speech again. When everyone seemed impressed, I couldn't really see it going any other way. I guess it's just a safe option for Alan being with a business partner who knows the market and is a safe money maker rather than something he's never gone into before. Bianca should definitely get snapped up though, she had a good idea and she did very well to get to the final and put in a solid speech/marketing campaign considering she had some quite embarrassing missteps in the process.
December 21, 201410 yr No brainer really, I think Bianca had a really good product but she messed up with picking the wrong market to pitch the product to. Plus she would need way more than £250k, more like £1m. I expect someone will invest in her product though. Mark win was a no brainer, he sold himself really well and digital marketing is easy money if you know what you're doing. When it's put like this, you can't really argue against it. I was supporting Bianca admittedly as I thought her business idea had the most legs (no pun intended surprisingly), but it was a risky investment, it was being priced too highly and there were more tweaks to be made than there was with Mark's, who credit to him, while he hasn't been someone I've been hugely keen of throughout, sold himself and his product extremely well tonight, so no surprise to see him winning. Bianca has even admitted on the show afterwards that she's lowered her pricing to more like £7.99 - a huge factor in her downfall tonight I believe.
December 21, 201410 yr Going off the whole process, I think Mark was the rightful winner. I believe Bianca had the better business though, even if it would be hard setting it up. I was so disappointed that Mark didn't go with Climb Media. Even when said quickly in the name meeting, nobody in the team seemed to pick up on what it sounded like!!! I've only just got it :drama:
December 22, 201410 yr Looking on Bianca's twitter, she has launched her new business and the website for it crashed due to it not being able to cope with the amount of people attempting to register their interest on the website. Looks like it has also been renamed 'Bianca Miller London', hope she does really well with it and I think she will!
That's great to hear! This has been a really great series, but seriously, what a f***ing awful winner. It's not even the fact that he is just one intolerable, egotistical smug dickhead, but his business could very easily flop on its arse and I can see it being a simple case of hit-or-miss (most likely the latter considering what he's going to have to spend to deliver this "excellent" and "personal" service he kept promising throughout that pitch). Just because he knows every nook and cranny of the business it doesn't mean he'll automatically be onto billions. I really think the investment is going to go to waste. Bianca's plan may have been an extremely safe one, but it's an industry that there is continual demand for and that could potentially have made Sugar an incredible amount of money, so naturally it's gutting that even with the proposed compromise of pricing and design she wasn't given that opportunity. Both were gambles in the end I guess, but Bianca's was more of a money-maker. Won't dwell on it too much though as I think she'll be the more successful businessperson on the back of this.
December 22, 201410 yr I think I would have preferred to invest in Bianca personally. The idea was clear, really strong and resonated with its potential customer base, therefore I feel it has the potential to make the money back very quickly. Mark may be able to make more in the long run, but it will take him a long time to get there and I'd expect a lot of the first year or so he'll be just about breaking even rather than taking in a solid profit. Also I don't really like his business model, the market seems to be crowded with a load of sharks who are in it to make a lot of money out of companies who aren't really sure what they can do (or what they do), but given he knows it inside-out I'm sure he'll be able to mark out his own success in time. Love the bad editing of Lord Sugar throughout, the old guy clearly getting confused with his lines! I think that they need to end this now, 10 series in and most of the editing in the tasks is so predictable now. Ooh they've made loads of errors throughout, ah but they've won by 12p WHO SAW THAT COMING!!?!?!11@ Er, everyone.
December 22, 201410 yr Thanks to someone UNNAMED HOE I got spoiled who's going to win before I watched last night's episode. 'YAY' :mansoncheer: I wanted Bianca to win but hey ho LS would never get into a risky startup. When people get to those levels of rich they get greedier so it's not really surprising he went with a much safer Igloo Australia... I mean Mark.
