Silly moo?

Forgive me but I don't know the full history of iTunes hence why I asked the question.

I think the silly moo comment was just meant in a playful way :)

If I remember well Leona Lewis had huge lead with Bleeding Love and Run, but I'm not sure if they were this big.
Let's also not forget the supposed remixes of 'Do They Know It's Christmas? (2014)' (how annoying that the '(2014)' seems to be part of the title) aren't out yet, they could possibly be planned for release in Christmas week which could help the song out :magic: Although more likely they'll just be released when the CD single is out.
James Arthur was up against a high selling #2 as well :P

I haven't heard it yet but actually I'm glad a Christmas song could end up high in the chart with high sales (and it is released this year, so not entirely an oldie) :D

The #2 that week sold 75k, surely Clean Bandit are likely to sell more than that?

There's also Olly Murs at #3 to take into consideration as well which makes this even more of a great achievement for Band Aid 30.
Ridiculously outstanding lead. On course for 600k maybe? Even if not it's a very exciting week.
'Wrapped Up' was always doomed to peak at #3 TBH, Travie McCoy has reached #3 on three previous occasions without ever making the top 2 ('Cupid's Chokehold' and 'Stereo Hearts' with Gym Class Heroes, plus 'Billionaire' as a solo artist) :P
The video for Band Aid 30 has just gone to #1 on the "Popular on youtube United Kingdom" chart. What happened to Fuse ODG? I thought he was supposed to rap a few bars on the track?

Well I underestimated its first week sales by QUITE the margin :P

At least Clean Bandit & Olly Murs both appear on it (if only they got Guetta on it too )

That lead is so impressive!

and to think a few weeks ago I didn't think there was a chance in hell that anybody would top the yearly sales for 'Happy'

Pleased for Real Love, shame it will never be a No.1 because of circumstances but it's not *quite* as amazing as Rather Be so I don't mind it peaking a place lower. I hope Olly doesn't catch up, boring lead single by his high standards.

Well done for Clean Glynne keeping high despite not being able to get #1 next week (for obvious reasons ;))

I guess there's very little chance Blank Space will enter the top 10 this week, unless it gets a huge boost on streaming, which is unlikely seeing what happened with Shake It Off...

It's not unlikely - it is impossible. None of the '1989' is available to stream anywhere.

She really is shooting herself in the foot with this stance on streaming. http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/grin.gif

It would really teach her if Blank Space peaked at #1 on sales and #2 on streaming.

Band Aid 30 slaying all competition is great to see :D

He pulled out cos he apparently "felt uncomfortable with the new lyrics". No idea which lyrics though

None of her stuff is available for streaming, not just 1989! Well, her soundtrack singles are and Love Story plus one or two others which are on compilations. Apparently the label took withdrew the material from Spotify because they weren't paid properly?! But also Taylor is critical of streaming herself so it could have been her decision.

I adore her but it is a pretty stupid move, but maybe she isn't too bothered about chart positions.

I'm pretty sure James Arthur's lead topped out at pushing #2 down to ~0.09/0.10 so this is the biggest lead a song has ever had. It's against a big new release at #2 as well which makes it even more impressive.

It won't be #1 continuously from now to Christmas but I think it could still be in contention for the Christmas #1, it's bound to get a massive boost on Christmas week I think. If the XF winner is another unpopular one it could still happen. Won't hold my breath though, just hoping for big sales overall.

What was the lead for RAGE/Joe in Xmas week 2009? Both songs sold 450-500k?
