Has it only been released this week?

Surprised at the fall for Gareth Malone, thought it would have plummeted after xmas just!

No the video was released in the middle of September.

Band Aid 30 & Gareth Malone's All Star Choir have been in pink non-stop for the past few days. Does this mean that no one is buying it anymore?

Only 12k yesterday!

Could be significantly down next week - 70k only maybe unless airplay increases its sales!

70k is pushing it. They'll be lucky to stay top 5 at this rate of selling.
Tom Odell isn't doing hugely well... which is strange as I think we're all used to the John Lewis singles being inescapable at this point. Obviously not as bad a campaign as Slow Moving Millie but it's weird not to have it be a constant top 5 presence over Q4.

When I first heard it I always said it wouldn't be as commercially appealing as the others, but it's managed to get him his highest peaking single at least! I'm sure it'll re-enter the top ten again at some point, airplay is picking up now. It's got no chance of doing a Power of Love or Somewhere Only We Know, though - you're right.

As long as it doesn't outpeak the original (#4) I'll be happy!

I wonder could Band Aid be one of the biggest #1 sellers to have such as decline in sales the following week? Or one of the biggest sellers to fall down a number of places the following week? (but we have to wait until next week :P)

Gareth Malone is just in continuous freefall at the moment, it looks like he might be lucky to even get three weeks in the top 40! I thought it'd hold up a little bit better than this.

Has there ever been a #1 with only 2 weeks top 40? Even McFly's 'Baby's Coming Back' scraped a third week.

I think it's more the fact that it has no airplay (unless it has now been picked up by some stations?) so the only thing that was selling it was a few high profile TV placements. Now they're all done there is pretty much no incentive for anyone to go out of their way to buy it. (Its negligible streaming is not going to help it either of course).

I think the phrase 'falling at a comical rate' can be used non ironically here :magic:

Surely he'll get a 3rd week top 40 though? Even the really floppy charity #1s did

I don't think so but I'll just look on our wiki ;)

Number 1's with fewest weeks in Top 40 (this week and last week's number one excluded for what I hope are obvious reasons)

3 - Blur - "Beetlebum"

Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua - "What A Wonderful World"

Justice Collective - "He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother"

McFly - "Baby's Coming Back"/"Transylvania

Jenkins/West/Jones/Gibb - "(Barry) Islands in the Stream"

X-Factor finalists featuring JLS & One Direction - "Wishing On A Star"

Couldn't find it on UKCAW but on Wikipedia the fewest top 40 weeks is 3 :P

Fewest weeks in Top 40 by a No. 1 single (3 weeks):

"(Barry) Islands In The Stream" by Vanessa Jenkins (Ruth Jones) and Bryn West (Rob Brydon) featuring Sir Tom Jones and Robin Gibb

"Beetlebum" by Blur

"What a Wonderful World" by Eva Cassidy and Katie Melua

"Baby's Coming Back/Transylvania" by McFly

"Wishing On A Star by The X Factor finalists 2011 featuring JLS and One Direction

"He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" by The Justice Collective
