How is Sia so low! :o :(
Eek, albums are so strong at the moment though!

I'll make it up to you later in the countdown April. I was contemplating holding this back for Nicki's album but I have a feeling we aren't getting it on 15th December..

Thankss

FINEST SELECTION #29 :o I vote to ban you from the sats forum :snif: Great countdown so far. Especially love So Long, See You Tomorrow.
It cheated though, I could hardly have it at #1 now could I. Glad you're a fan of Bombay because their album is stunning.

Thank ye !

Hi Josh! :D

I really loved Paloma during the 'Fall to Grace' era ('Picking Up the Pieces' remains one of my favourite songs like, ever), but it all went a bit tits up with this era. Was not a fan of 'Can't Rely on You' at all and all of the other material isn't that great either. :( Same with 'Welcome to the Jungle' really, they had a killer single (aka 'Louder'), but everything else on the album was just meh. Can't say I ever go back to that now, singles aside.

YAY for Sia though, her album really surprised me. :o Didn't expect to like it so much. 'Chandelier's gotten a bit tiring now, but I'm still in LOVE with 'Eye of the Needle' Glad to see that and 'Burn the Pages' in your highlights.

Looking forward to the rest of the countdown :cheer:

Hi Calum!

I definitely think APC was a step down from FTG but it's still decent. Anything Pharrell touches is an abomination so that explains why CROY isn't that great.

Louder is my favourite NJ single too, I do like Trouble/WTTJ a lot too though. The album was good but a tiny bit filler-y.

Yeah, she has a stunning voice. I think Chandelier could be a bit of a future classic I think.

Thanks !

Hit singles:

03 Wrapped Up / (31-18-12-21-20-7-9-3-6-...) 9 weeks (so far)

26 Up / (26-..) 1 week (so far)

Another recent album here coming from Olly Murs, it's the first Olly album I've ever listened to it and hasn't disappointed. I've always been a casual fan so now I've decided to take the first step to standom and I like this album a lot. A very strong pop album with good hooks and interesting production.

Here are my highlights:

• Wrapped Up

• Seasons

• Did You Miss Me?

• We Still Love

20. Katy Perry - Prism

Chart run: (5-5-6-7-7-8-9-10-10) 9 weeks

Hit singles:

01 Dark Horse / (1-1-2-1-2-4-5-10-13-14-14-19-15-15-7-20-31-38-43-45-49-48) 22 weeks

01 Birthday / (16-18-7-1-1-1-2-4-8-15-17-17-22-27-33-42) 16 weeks

40 Roar / (45-48-xx-40-43) 4 weeks

01 Legendary Lovers / (1-18-23-41-45-xx[10]-40) 6 weeks

01 This Is How We Do / (33-40-31-8-2-1-5-25-36) 9 weeks

This is an album that would have most likely been my EOY #2 last year, it's an excellent pop album from my favourite pop star of current times. It's probably her worst commercial album because One Of The Boys > Teenage Dream > Prism but it's still very good, just a slight step down from the high standards she has set herself. Without this album, we'd have never had the life-changingly excellent tune Dark Horse which is definitely in her top 3 for me. Birthday is also excellent despite what the haters say. This is definitely an album I'll be going back to a lot for many years.

Here are my highlights:

• Dark Horse

• Birthday

• This Is How We Do

• Unconditionally

• Roar

Chart run: (3-4-4-3-3-6-8-8-9) 9 weeks

Hit singles:

01 Team / (2-2-1-3-1-2-1-3-6-9-15-21-17-21-30-33-44-48-40-39-44-49) 22 weeks

01 Glory and Gore / (9-1-3-5-9-19-24-30-29-27-36-35-45-49-48-47-50) 17 weeks

02 Tennis Court / (9-10-xx-44-27-12-3-2-3-3-7-10-5-9-10-29-28-44) 17 weeks

This would certainly have been my EOY #1 last year, it may well be my favourite album of all time, who knows. It's such a package from start to finish, I hope she isn't a flash-in-the-pan and has a successful second era too because all of her tracks are just 10/10. ily lorde

18. CHVRCHES - The Bones of What You Believe

http://i.imgur.com/Ic7GHqZ.png

Chart run: (2-6-10-10) 4 weeks

Hit singles:

07 Recover / (7-10-36-xx-28-25) 5 weeks

03 The Mother We Share / (4-3-4-34) 4 weeks

04 Lies / (5-4-12-36) 4 weeks

06 We Sink / (7-9-6-28-42) 5 weeks

03 Gun / (9-8-3-29) 4 weeks

14 Under The Tide / (26-14-47) 3 weeks

Another album that suffered due to me not starting an album chart sooner, this would've made #1 for sure. This is synth-pop at it's absolute finest but the album did tire on me fairly quickly, as do all of their stuff it seems going by those chart runs. I do love them as a band though, Lauren Mayberry's vocals work so well with the synths too. Hoping they come back with a good second era and Dead Air and Get Away seem to indicate that may be the case :funky:

Here are my highlights:

• The Mother We Share

• We Sink

• Gun

• Tether

• Lies

17. Cheryl - Only Human

http://i.imgur.com/No7wOXa.png

Chart run: (3-3-8-...) 3 weeks (so far)

Hit singles:

02 I Don't Care / (6-3-2-4-24-6-10-38-46-...) 9 weeks (so far)

38 Crazy Stupid Love / (38) 1 week

Before I start, let's just admire that artwork - really striking. It took me a while to get over the out-of-tune brass instrument in the chorus but I do like the song now. Follow-up single I Don't Care is a great little pop tune and probably her second best single ever behind Parachute for me, it's having a good run in my personal chart racking up nine consecutive weeks in the chart - which is really quite good, especially with six weeks in the top 10. The album is definitely her most consistent and her best album for me, all of the album is strong and some of the hooks are excellent.

Here are my highlights:

• Only Human

• I Don't Care

• It's About Time

• Throwback

• Waiting for Lightning

'Little Red' and 'In The Lonely Hour' are both stunning.

The latter in particular ii never expected to like as much as i did (especially after the HORRID/WORST SONG EVER that is 'Money On My Mind' :kink:). He needs to release 'Leave Your Lover'!!1

'Pure Heroine' and 'Prism' too (y)

Hit singles:

06 Pretend / (18-14-18-17-16-7-6-11-28-32-48-49) 12 weeks

This has to be one of the best R&B albums of recent times, it's got very interesting production and a stunning vocal. Hoping for big things for this girl next year and I'm sure 2 On could get her some commercial success. Pretend is still the best thing on the album though, so stunning.

Here are my highlights:

• Pretend

• Feels Like Vegas

• Thug Cry

21 Ten Tonne Skeleton / (28-31-21) 3 weeks

Here are one of the big break-out success stories of the year, Royal Blood, the creators of an excellent rock album. There's not really much I can say on this apart from that it is a very very good album and the guitars in it are *-*

Here are my highlights:

• Out of the Black

• Come On Over

• Little Monster

14. Alt-j - This Is All Yours

Chart run: (2-3-1-1-4-6-7-8-9-8) 10 weeks

Hit singles:

30 Left Hand Free / (37-34-30-40-47-xx[14]-36-45-...) 7 weeks (so far)

08 Every Other Freckle / (8-10-16-16-21-20-20-32-47) 9 weeks

20 Hunger Of The Pine / (28-20-24-29-50) 5 weeks

Basically, the best thing about this album is the fact it that it includes the glorious Every Other Freckle but the rest of the album is fantastic too. I'd rank this higher than their debut personally, another perfect relaxation album with very interesting production once again. And also, this includes the iconic interlude Garden of England which you should all listen to for the lolz.

Here are my highlights:

• Every Other Freckle

• Nara

• Pusher

• Bloodflood Pt II

• Hunger of the Pine

Hit singles:

13 Steal My Girl / (33-24-13-14-17-21-49) 7 weeks

19 Night Changes / (37-19-41-...) 3 weeks (so far)

1D have previously been very hit and miss for me singles wise and I thought I'd listen to one of their albums for the first time after liking Steal My Girl and I was really shocked at how excellent this album is. It's much more mature than most of their previous singles and the hooks are fantastic, hoping for one of my highlights below as the next single.

12. Ariana Grande - My Everything

http://i.imgur.com/Tp5mKep.png

Chart run: (1-1-4-7-8-9-10) 7 weeks

Hit singles:

36 Problem / (36-xx[1]-47-xx[12]-42) 3 weeks

17 Break Free / (34-17-20-35-38-41-45-50-23) 9 weeks

01 Bang Bang [with Jessie J & Nicki Minaj] (29-10-2-1-1-4-9-17-18-22-30-44-50-48-...) 14 weeks (so far)

16 One Last Time / (16-32) 2 weeks

05 Love Me Harder (15-14-26-35-xx[1]-31-15-21-5-...) 8 weeks (so far)

Ariana Grande is someone who seems to have just come from nowhere and is now huge and I must say that is fully deserved. I'd heard the name but I'd actually not heard of any of her songs before Problem and even that took me a long time to love as reflected by its chart run here but she really is excellent. She has a really good voice and I'm actually a fan of her mumbling style, this album is full of huge pop tunes with lovely production and some very good features too. The album's chart run in my personal chart definitely doesn't indicate how much I actually love this album..

Here are my highlights:

• One Last Time

• Why Try

• Break Your Heart Right Back

• Love Me Harder

• Be My Baby

QUEEN

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ed2305b7.png

queen indeed, of r&b album 2014. fantastic stuff

I never expected to like ITLH either hence why I put off listening to it for so long but it's fantastic. I think Leave Your Lover is gorgeous but probably one of the weaker album tracks, I've Told You Now is my fave

Thanks!

I'll be keeping an eye on this countdown. Expecting Oliver Heldens to do well here!
Oh yes, Gecko will definitely be big in the Top 100 countdown, one of the strongest singles this year for sure.

Thanks!

So many amazing albums

My everything is great but how come problem is so low :(

1000 forms of fear is amazing, especially chandelier which as to be one of the best sung songs of the last few years

Lorde  She has grown on me so much over the last year and royals is just amazing

Cheryl's new album is great and her 3rd best for me

And little red such an amazing follow up by Kath  Crying for no reason is just so beautiful

Four has so far been great for 1D single wise. Absolutely loving them atm.

11. London Grammar - If You Wait

Chart run: (1-2-5-5-7-7-7-8-9-9-10-8-10) 13 weeks

Hit singles:

41 Hey Now / (41) 1 week

04 Sights / (4-30-40) 3 weeks

20 Metal & Dust / (20-32-41) 3 weeks

48 Nightcall / (48) 1 week

27 If You Wait / (33-39-35-27-49) 5 weeks

Yes, this album is from 2013 but it wasn't until the brilliant 2014 single Sights that I decided to give in and appreciate this masterpiece. Hannah Reid has one of the most beautiful voices ever and it's just so striking on productions like this. Metal & Dust is definitely my favourite because it's a bit more midtempo and quite interesting for them. Also, their Disclosure collab is just *-*

Here are my highlights:

• Metal & Dust

• Hey Now

• Sights

• If You Wait

• Nightcall
