The product description on the Rough Trade site matches the exact text from the 2020 release, so it might just be a case of Rough Trade accidentally attaching the CD/digital artwork on the product pag

Anything to give it exposure would be good, with so many greatest hits now in the top 100 for years on end it would be nice to see the this been another one. Anyone know if this is far off triple plat

Seems like it's sold out on Amazon UK, it's not been in stock since before midday... so seems like it really was limited.

To be honest I wish it wasn't limited, clearly there's notable demand for it!

Meh, a 4 week delay & I assume this mean it's no longer going to be a limited edition like it was initially supposed to be.

What's more, that means these vinyl sales will contribute to the chart that is published 3 weeks after the tour ends. The CDs/Downloads/Streaming is bound to drop off somewhat by then.

:)

This release is a bit of a mess to be honest. I don't care if it is limited edition or not, personally it doesnt bother me. But loads of fans/collectors are pissed off. Technically this makes it false advertisement. Maybe the new batch will still be limited, but probably not..
Only to be expected limited to now 10,000’coies or something probably .

Why push the date back? Why not just release more copies but keep the release date the same? I actually cancelled my order as I was skint but I might reorder another once I get paid now.

The amount of angry fans on Instagram is hilarious. So annoyed that more people are getting them... selfish much or what?

Yeah people are awful about stuff like this. A lot of people are also probably pissed off because they bought the original 'limited edition' a few times to sell it for a lot of money on ebay or discogs afterwards. Personally, I say screw those people.

More people will get the vinyl and that is a GOOD THING!!

Yeah I reckon they bought a few copies intending to make money on it, makes me laugh that they miss out  . There are also some who want to have things that others don't have, they are the really selfish people. Like it makes them better fans for having something others don't... <_<

I know, it is so sad lol

But if something is stated as being a limited edition and a specific amount of copies is stated (2500), then you order it, and then it’s sold out, that really should be it.

It borders on unprofessional to completely change the goal posts by changing the release date quite significantly (a month’s delay) and clearly extending the run beyond 2500. Technically the first 2500 copies sold were misrepresented, it was false advertising. I think it’s fair if plenty of people are annoyed.

Sure, there may be some fans that bought more than one for profit (that’ll be the case with any artist releasing a limited edition) but there’ll also be those who just bought one who’d be happy to have something special. I don’t think it’s a case of selfishness. It’s always first come first serve for these sorts of releases. Or at least, almost always. This Greatest Hits Vinyl is an exception to the rule, I’ve very rarely seen a limited edition with a specific run be extended and increased.

Britney’s Baby One More Time Vinyl was limited to 2500 copies and sold out fast. They never added more copies of that original version. However a second version was released with a different colour vinyl and a modified cover, this time with a 10,000 copy run. Eventually it was released on picture disc too. So the label / store stuck to their word with the “limited to 2500” but provided alternatives for those who missed out. This is what Spice Girls should have done with Greatest Hits. Made the first 2500 unique in some way, and then put out a modified version that’s more widely available.

The pushed back release date annoys me more. Originally scheduled for mid way through the tour, it would have provided a significant boost during a time when the group is active & prominent. Now it’ll just provide a random boost once everything has died down again.

Now watch as certain Antipodean slimebags that call themselves 'journalists' get wind of this and use it as another IKSKLUSIV STARRY ON LERRAINE YER GOIZZZZ about how this reunion is all going to shit or something.

On a positive note - I get it the same time as Kylie's new best of on vinyl. Aces :D

That Britney example though Jay, those original 2,500 are probably being resold for a fortune and it kinda scammed fans into buying 2 editions as well.

Yes the Spice Girls vinyl wont be super rare now but those who ordered it wont have another edition released that they would want/need for their collection.

I honestly don't mind my vinyl being limited or a few weeks late, I've waited 12 years for it 4 more weeks wont kill me. Also all fans will get the chance to buy it too which I like.

I agree with all of this. Yes the way they went about it was wrong, but tecnically this is a much better thing to do for everyone in the end. Special and very limited editions are cute, but they ultimately just create division between the core fans and then allow for others to rip us off.

They just shouldn’t have claimed it was limited edition in the first place tbh, bad tactic. If something is limited then that really should be honoured.

Not quite lighting up the Amazon chart like it did during its first moment of availability, it's currently #25 in their music chart. Haven't checked too regularly but it was #25 a few hours ago too.

Edit 5am GMT: #24

This was put on sale earlier this week in Mexico, possibly by mistake, so some fans have their copies already.

Is this a #PleaseComeToBrazil plea?

I've just had an e-mail - it's been pushed back AGAIN to July 5th. What the hell are they playing at?
The delay is annoying when it’s apparent that the copies have likely been hanging around for weeks already. What are they waiting for? Mexico accidentally put copies on sale in late May lol.
It might have been a delay in production, not necessarily the girls fault...
