I adore this, the actual perfect album with so many highlights... its up there with Finest Selection by The Saturdays.

 

 

Headlines is also so under-rated! Such a perfect Spice Ballad.

I think the Greatest Hits will eventually be a million seller in the UK and jt surely deserves to be.

I remember on DenDen forum in the early 2000s, we’d sometimes discuss the possibility of a Greatest Hits and what we wanted from it. So strange to think that ROTSG/GH era was 14 years ago…

 

I mostly remember a lot of people on DenDen being very sure they would easily outsell Leona during release week :lol: :lol:

 

:lol: I wonder how it was possible for them to underestimate Leona at that point! (I can't believe Bleeding Love and Spirit was 14 years ago too :o )

Few Greatest Hits actually do justice to their name, but that album is packed with actual hits back to back :wub: Plus, I love the cover. I know a lot of people didnt like it cos the girls were not on the cover but I think this was actually really nice as it made it more timeless.

 

Personally, and as usual with the Spice Girls, I found the whole campaign was a bit lacking with shit promo and two new songs that were subpar. Then that awful delux box was just terrible design all together.

 

A shame that in the grand scheme of things, it hasnt sold as much as it should. At least it is almost at 700,000 copies which I guess is pretty ok. At the time, it was a bit of a flop...

This. It deserved number 1. A proper GH, almost all of the songs were number ones.

I still hate Voodoo so much, and Headlines is not that bad but not at their level. Still it deserved to sell way more.

It was obvious both werent really a group effort like in the past but just a clear attempt to make something 'similar' as before. With time, I have learned to appreciate Headlines more. Certainly the HQ version of the video on their YT channel elevates it and it did come alive when they performed it at the 2007 tour.

The best decision they ever made was not having the girls on the cover of the GH. It's now a classic cover and stands the test of time. Imagine the GH with a blonde Posh and the mess that was Geri's hair in 2007 and that Mel C fringe #shudders

I dont like 2007 era. They were doing all in a rush, you can tell they were not happy, especially MC and Victoria. The tour was good ok but lot of songs missing, and solos doesn’t worked well. Headlines as a come back single is a shame. Thanks God we had Olympics and 2019 tour to forget about that “return” .

I thought Melanie C looked fantastic during the reunion in the photo shoots and the conference. Emma looked a bit mumsy but she was heavily pregnant so she can be forgiven. The other 3… nope!

 

I totally agree re them not being on the cover best decision of the whole era.

That photo encapsulates all my issues with the 2007 reunion and tour it's just not very Spice.

This one is probably the only promo picture I enjoy from that era, but it is still very boring isnt it? Id swear that it looks like a Mel B stand in rather than our Scary Spice lol

 

 

 

Mel b needs the curls and Mel C with her ponytail or they all look a bit too similar I think. They could easily be The Saturdays or Fifth Harmony in the pic above.

Good to get an update, soon 700k. It will take a long long time for it to get triple album if it ever happens but double platinum is great as that was something I didnt think would happen.
