Posted November 30, 201410 yr It makes me cringe when I hear this said but I reckon there genuinely is a gap in the market for a 2 boys, 2 girls group. It was clear that the dark lord Cowell saw this as he was bigging them up during the contest. Is there a record deal on the horizon for these guys? I think they're ready to go... They have chemistry, big appeal to young age groups, devoted fans (weirdly popular in Brazil lol), good experience as they've been plugging away for two years & they know what kind of band they want to be. November 30, 201410 yr I don't know tbh. Realistically they might get a top 10 hit or two but I can't see them doing really well (although if they released Monster Mash as an official single I can see it doing fairly well). I think Stereo Kicks will be the same unless they are marketed to high heavens. Theoretically only Ben or Fleur have any chance of doing extremely well beyond this series. November 30, 201410 yr I think they could be successful with the sort of pop that was on Little Mix's first album! They need a 'DNA' and they are well away I reckon.
November 30, 201410 yr I'd never say never but I find it very difficult to envisage them being successful beyond perhaps a couple of front-loaded single releases. The brand worked as much-needed light relief on a family entertainment show and (unfortunately) I think they're damned whether or not they decide to drop that cheesiness which was a large part of their appeal. That said, I remember thinking the concept of One Direction wouldn't work in the market when they were on the show and I hear they've managed to carve out a nice niche for themselves. :o
November 30, 201410 yr Author They're not wanting to be as cheesy as they were on X Factor, they did that to progress through to the next week. I think they could make it with the right songs but they need a good label behind them who know what they're doing.
November 30, 201410 yr They were the act that I found stood out in the contest so it was frustrating that the show just turned them into a new Same Difference and didn't seem concerned with whether they stay or not. I definitely hope they don't go down the cheesy pop route, I get that that was part of their appeal, but I would like for them to do something a bit more sophisticated as that's a niche that I feel they could do well in, and show a side to them which was never shown on the show. Ofc. that's just what I want from them and I don't necessarily know if the public would take to them too if they went down that route, but I'm not sure the cheesy pop route would do much better. I do at least hope they're signed as they've definitely got potential as an alternative to yet another flash in the pan boyband.
November 30, 201410 yr I too hope they get success with the right material. They have a good look and the chemistry in the band is believable because they've known each other for a good few years. I would have liked to have seen them do some edgier stuff (that matches their style) on X Factor, i.e. a Haim cover or something in that vein as it would have shown they can do more than just the cheesy pop stuff (which isn't bad, might I add.) I also really enjoyed their cover of 'Blurred Lines' despite not liking the original. It shows how good they could be. H-vzGDv6wqw
November 30, 201410 yr They'll do a Union J I think. A #6 hit (due to hype) which falls very quickly. Then an album which also falls very quickly and a post-album single which fails to chart very high.
November 30, 201410 yr I really hope there is a good future for them or at least the opportunity to release some good material. They seem totally with it in terms of their sound/look/vibes etc. I think there's more room for them to grow too, unlike Union J who seemed to peak on the show and became "just another boy band" after it. Here's hoping anyway.
November 30, 201410 yr The same gap for them in the market was the same gap in the market that there was for Same Difference, pointless.
November 30, 201410 yr Can see them getting a debut top 20 hit due to pre-orders and that will be it. Will perform similarly to one of those BGT bands.
November 30, 201410 yr Author The same gap for them in the market was the same gap in the market that there was for Same Difference, pointless. Same Difference were terrible, Steps made a good career for themselves, there's a niche for them, they have a USP.
November 30, 201410 yr Same Difference were terrible, Steps made a good career for themselves, there's a niche for them, they have a USP. They did 15 years ago perhaps, I'll believe it when I see it  then I'll eat humble pie.
November 30, 201410 yr Author They did 15 years ago perhaps, I'll believe it when I see it  then I'll eat humble pie. haha well the odds are against them so I wouldn't bet against them flopping. Even artists with big profiles like The Saturdays & Pixie Lott often flop sales wise. We'll see...
