I highly doubt anyone is sat at home thinking "I hate Fleur but now I must spend my life savings on votes for her because I saw her bus for a minute on my TV"".

I hope they have a surprise performer who will duet with Fleur, because Meghan Trainor duetting with Fleur kind of seems a bit underwhelming (assumong Ed/Ben & Andrea/Sam). Unless Fleur is duetting with Olly or One Direction, which I couldn't really imagine.

I do know what product placement is... But I still fail to see how this has any bearing on Fleur just because her bus was on screen for lke 30 seconds? They all have one.

Fleur doesn't feel like an over tbh, but I think it shows a lot of younger people have moved on from the show. I think the app was supposed to bring them back in but judging by 'only' just over 7 million for the SF (which is great but not where I'm sure they would want the figure) I don't think it has worked.

Its the first year and i have watced it from the start that i am not exciteed for the semi final or the final. There is no act this year that i got fully behind, i know loads of people love Fleur but i just cant buy into her, at a push i would say id like Ben to win as he seems a well grounded guy but i cant see myself buying any albums from the final 3.

 

Also i thought tonight duet with Idina and Buble was awful, did anyone else think the same?

To be fair most of the current big pop stars at the moment would fit into the overs category (Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé etc etc), plus Olly was an over (one of the most successful X-factor contestants).

Simon must have been watching the Aussie version and been gunning for successful overs :P They had Samantha and Dami win in a row, plus a flop winner from 2010 who now wants nothing to do the show or music at all it seems :lol: Reigan Derry probably would have too if she didn't smash it from the first audition and went on a "journey" instead (Samanrha was bottom 2 three times and only saved by deadlock for the latter two times and Dami was sent home at bootcamp but got brought back when someone dropped out). It's good we have someone like Fleur in the overs, even Ben is a bit of a change. Tbf though Matt was technically an over, he was 27 I think? That year they were just stupid and made a silly amount of competition in the boys and girls category by making the over 25s the over 28s.

The problem they have had with the overs in the past is they have picked old people. Ben and Fleur are both still in their 20's aren't they, if you are going to pick someone over 30 they need to be an amazing vocalist as they are going to have little else going for them.

Surely the older audience has always dominated X Factor voting? I mean, take the two most successful years 2009 and 2010, even if Joe McElderrey and Matt Cardle were technically in the Boys category, their main support surely came from the mums and grannies (well, maybe Matt Cardle got a few teenage girls' votes).

 

If anything I would say Fleur despite being an "Over" appeals more to the young audience than a lot of the people who've got to the final in recent years.

I really don't think this is the case. Fleur might not feel like an over but she is, and the fact she's sailing on through isn't because older people must be voting for her cause she's an over, because that's what this post makes out :lol: Many young people would be interested in Fleur, she's relevant and current. I know many fans of Fleur in real life.

7 million votes is deceiving too, a lot of people multiple vote and with the app you get 5 votes for free so you could have as little as 1 million people voting imo. I think the voting audience is quite mixed but there is a huge chunk of families watching as a "Saturday night in" so yes a lot of parents and older people too. This is the reason despite all the Fleur hype I still think Ben has a good shot at winning. He appeals to a wider demographic. The teenagers think he's gorgeous, young women too and the middle aged will also like him. I think the younger audience are more likely to vote for Fleur but not so much the older ones. I have a hunch last weekend was the first time she may have topped the vote too. Perfect timing but if she can't top that performance, she may have a let down and normal service could be resumed next week. Will be interesting.

Yes, it was one of the worst guest performances ever in the 11 series history.

It's a massive stepup from last year when only a million votes were received for the final.
