Some of my favourite 2014 singles lie amongst your Top 100; particularly great to see 'Into the Blue' here which I hadn't realised you liked. If summer was a song, it would sound something like this.

I loved your analysis of Sia's album. I can see why some may not like her voice but to me it's both impressive and expressive. Some real heart-touching moments on there!

I was interested to hear Taylor's album however, with her refusal to upload it to Spotify, it's almost impossible to find any of the album tracks (Tumblr has been the best source but even that's unreliable). Apart from the two singles, I've heard 'Welcome to New York' which I loved, although I think most believe there's many better songs.

Taylor betrayed the Country folk to get sales, bitch.

But she does it so well

Hiya Bal, HNY :nocheer: I've been waiting for a recap to comment properly B-)

29. Nicki Minaj - Pills N Potions still her best for me this year but Iggy slays her by far ;)

49. Josef Salvat - Diamonds gorgeous rendition. Is it too much to say that it could beat Rihanna's version :o

50. Tulisa - Living Without You she's gonna flop next week, :snif: I can't watch this happen :(

81. Madonna - Rebel Heart this I still have not heard... where can I hear it :( L4L, DevilPray & Ghosttown are my faves from what I have heard though. QUEENDONNA to Slay in 2015 please :cheer:

Super chart Bal so far, looking forward to your top 10.. hope I know some

10. Kanika Kapoor ft. Sunny Leone - Baby Doll

This is for you Nelly. S :music: Officially ranking as my favourite d'yermak'er entry this year. 'Baby Doll' also ranks as the FUNNEST track in my top 10.

I was first subjected to the song in Canada in the pre-wedding party of my cousin. It was then requested again later that night and continued to be played throughout the ceremonies. It's a song all about excess and being filthy and the visuals go a long way to express this sentiment. The merging of bhangra with hip-hop and dance works a treat, and thankfully those drunken nights dancing like a maniac to it in Canada followed me back home, and i was able to grace BJSC with the eastern sounds. It failed miserably but it remains my favourite entry that i sent this year. I couldn't deny the song a top 10 placing because it truly defined a special time of the year for me and it's so personal in such a fun and invigorating way. One of those songs that will forever have strong memories attached with it, and whenever i listen, i am transported to the other side of the world, wasting away my troubles with the people i love the most. I'm happy it got even ONE fan here (in Nelly) and any other appreciators are a bonus too <3

09. Beyoncé – XO

The lead single from Beyoncé mammoth era this/last year was the sensationally beautiful 'XO'. It really set the tone for the era - one of love, passion and brooding tones. The song was an instant hit for me and dominated the end of 2013/start of 2014 as i fell in love with the soaring chorus and stunning vocals. I relegated it to 2014 because it was too late to include in 2013 and it had such an impact on me this year anyway that i don't regret it one bit. How it wasn't the global #1 it sounds like i'll never know, but this era really was all about the album so if it helped to shift a few more copies of that then it did its job. There are some songs that will never fail to move me and this is one of those examples; so simply done but majestically executed and confirming to any doubters just why she is Queen B. You can tell she is madly in love and it translates effortlessly into this song - when she sings "nobody sees what we see" she really means it because the love she has for her husband and daughter is so pure and personal to her that it can't be shared by anyone. Yet the song manages to be an anthem for anyone in love at the same time and it shows how something so personal can expand into something so universal when done as well as this.

Your commentary for XO is so spot on, it's such a beautiful/personal ballad and it's all executed so well. I remember seeing it zoom up iTunes after her breathtaking Brits performance but it fell quickly and I suppose it wasn't supposed to be. Huge shame because it should've rightfully been a top 10 at least.

1989 is a fantastic pop album, probably the best since Teenage Dream. Fantastic highlights too, Wildest Dreams has got to be a single soon, maybe for a change of pace singles wise if Style really is the next single. How You Get The Girl is fantastic pop too, seems really underrated but it's one of my favourites. Just got a hold of the deluxe tracks this week and both New Romantics and Wonderland are fantastic, I'd probably stick them on the main album maybe demoting Clean :P

I have a weird opinion on 'XO'. Reading your commentary, I pretty much agree with everything and I always wanted to like it/recognised how great it was but it never really connected and I'd never be inclined to seek it out (actually I completely forgot about it). It probably doesn't help that the 'I love you like XO' hook doesn't kick in until towards the end! The video is absolutely perfect for it though.
I was never fully sold on 'XO' - I much preferred 'Drunk in Love' and still do - but I really like it after listening now. The melody and voice is so light and sweet over the beat. I've always enjoyed the video; I remember reading about how Beyonce was miming along with no song and the public were so confused, not realising this was for the video from a secret album!
'XO' is a beauty of a song. Great to see it so high up here!

Drunk in Love & Pretty Hurts >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> this ^_^

I agree with one of those, but you'll have to wait and see which one :kink:

I really wanted it to be massive and thought the Brits was the way to do it too. Undeserved~

Would LOVE 'Wildest Dreams' to be a single. It will be my 'Leave Your Lover'/'Walking on Air' of this year in that i will not give up until it is released :heehee: yay for you getting into the whole album now !!

It's so good though! It does seem like one of those songs that you either properly get and invest in, or not. Maybe it isn't as universal as i suggested in my commentary? or those that don't agree are just silly silly beans, which is the more likely answer :)

Haha! That would have been quite the thing to see. I have so much adoration for the release strategy for this, and the fact she pulled it off so well too  Wonderful era~

04. Tinashe – Aquarius

2 On / Feels Like Vegas / Wildfire / All Hands on Deck / Far Side of the Moon

A bit of a shock for me when compiling the list but it fell naturally as the others ahead of it continued to mature.

'Aquarius' is quite simply incredible. It's a mature album from such a young, innocent sounding artist and it's filled to the brim with HUMONGOUS tunes, sexy styling, wistful vocals, sublime production and stunning lyrics. It is mostly all killer with only the odd filler (those rare moments that kill the vibe, are the reasons why it missed the top 3). The album is all about its highlights though; those mentioned above are worthy of the highest praise and really could have been huge global #1s had they have been done by a more well-known artist or got the exposure they needed. But a year into my constant moaning and lamenting for the commercial success of Tinashe, i have now finally realised that part of the reason why i am so invested in her, is precisely because she hasn't made it. In her songs she is champion, but without the recognition to go along with it, they are given a different charm - it is an uphill struggle for her to make it, and her music reflects this when she sings of anything, from hardships to setting the world alight to everything in between (including the lyric above). Above all else, i value her vocals. She adds so much personality into her music and the entire album is HER through and through. It flows effortlessly from start to end, rarely feeling laborious or unneeded, as every single lyric is essential to the package and vision of Aquarius.

I wish i could have included her higher in this album countdown because it all hit me like a wonderful BRICK earlier this year but alas it doesn't quite manage to get a medal position. Still, this is an album that i will enjoy for years to come hopefully because at the moment, nothing can douse this wild fire and a part of me thinks she is just getting started ~

Yeah, it could have quite easily have been a disaster! Especially considering the album material is hardly the most commercial type of music. The only downside was the confusion as to what was a single - particularly 'Drunk in Love' seemingly out-performing 'XO' everywhere as merely an album track when the latter was the single. They should have pulled out of 'XO' as lead single, pushed 'Drunk in Love' instead and then have 'XO' as single #2.

"XO" underperforming still surprises me. I know "Drunk In Love" is amazing and massively outperformed it for being the more interesting song, but "XO" is so commercial. I think they should've waited to release it until after DIL had its time.

Agree about the XO/DIL mess. Could have been two HUGE smashes, instead we got... none. :/

08. Tinashe - Feels Like Vegas

Oh here she is again, lol. This also gets the official title of my #1 album track of the year, as everything to come now had a single release (sort of (one of them just had a video) (o )(o )).

'Feels Like Vegas' is the vulnerable side of Tinashe that i mentioned in the album commentary done to perfection. It's a beautifully moving piece, that shows off her vocals wonderfully and allows her lyrics to ring through. A true album highlight and the song that got me fully on board with her just before i gave it all a spin. From the mousy start when she sets the stage, through to the first time that glorious chorus hits, all the way until that final breath after the tremendous middle-8, the song is a dream-like fantasy. She is at the same time the temptress and also the victim. The production carries the song where her vocals falter as the song becomes too much for her, and the two marry each other perfectly. It's a stunning song and one that has to be heard for the few on here that seem to doubt her prowess. She'll let you love her, but she doesn't even need to, because love is effortless when listening to the song. I don't know how she does it every single time, or where to, but she really does take you there with every listen, and i go with her willingly.
