Just close your eyes and dream about it

51. La Roux - Tropical Chancer

52. The Vamps ft. Demi Lovato - Somebody To You

53. Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good

54. FKA twigs - Two Weeks

55. Raleigh Ritchie – Stronger Than Ever

Raleigh's second entry here is the should-have-been-a-huge-smash 'Stronger Than Ever'. The simple start building to that almighty second half gives me goosebumps every time i listen. I'm glad for the glimmer of exposure he got, but he deserved so much more. FKA's stunning lead single from 'LP1' charts well here and even managed to top the singles chart for a short time earlier in the year. It took a very long time to properly hit me, but i eventually couldn't deny her dulcet tones and fierce persona. Michael's thrilling return from the grave (again) was this time a much better affair. An album and lead single that really paid attention to MJ's style and not a cheap cash-in like the previous effort. The Vamps teamed with Demi, a duet that works surprisingly well are next - so well in fact, that i think this could be my favourite single from them now :o and we conclude the section with the first (of quite a few, beware), entries from La Roux. 'Tropical Chancer' is a perfect indication to the sound of the album, it's joyfully sunny, yet mysteriously dark under the surface. I heard it years ago when she premiered it on her taster tour, and the studio version did not disappoint.

yasss @ 'Somebody to You' I would say something here but I shall refrain :kink:

It is beautiful <3 can't believe it took me so long to properly get it. And i liked STY before but listening now and the Demi version makes it even better for me.

Champs slaying *.* Totally disagree with it being their best oops but it's still 10/10. So much love for them.

There's angels in the airwaves tonight

21. Elliphant - One More EP

Never Been In Love / One More / You're Gone

22. Angel Haze - Dirty Gold

Sing About Me / Dirty Gold / Angels & Airwaves

One of the earliest projects to hit me this year and one of the latest. First up is Angel Haze's humongous album which got to me in January this year. The album is very well produced throughout and her vocals vary from strained to emotional to powerhousing, but it's always Angel and that's the key thing about her - she's very real with the music and it shows throughout. Just like the title alludes to, the album itself is full of dirty moments and golden moments; the dirty moments are fun and wild while the golden moments are special and darling. And one of the most recent (not the most recent - that's still to come and still growing on me~) is from Elliphant. I have had my eye on her previously but here she really shone for me. A small EP packed with so much character and vigour it's an accomplishment. In global songs such as 'Never Been In Love' she speaks huge messages, and these are placed next to the very localised and personal moments such as 'You're Gone'. I'm excited for her future if this is a stepping stone for her. And true fact, i genuinely misspelled and forgot how to spell "elephant" (the animal) in one instance when searching, due to excessive looning of this one -_-

Two Weeks, she really got me with that and it's still by far her best. She hasn't disappointed with her stuff though, hope she continues slaying !

Stronger Than Ever was a real surprise too, took ages for me to like it but once I did it was fantastic. None of his future stuff really lived up to that though so I hope it wasn't just a fluke..

'two weeks' is fucking stunning as is the album (in small doses)

elliphant is excellent as well tho i haven't gotten around to the whole ep.

this is my third favourite YTD currently :o

'tis tho.

That 51-55 section is stunning, especially the vamps best ever single

Glad you approve (y)

'Stronger Than Ever' is my favourite but i also really like the rest of the stuff on his EP(s)! He is a talent so i hope he gets the recognition he deserves next year.

Pretend that I'm happy when I'm really not

46. Sam Smith - Stay With Me

47. Tinashe ft. A$AP Rocky – Pretend

48. One Direction - Steal My Girl

49. Josef Salvat - Diamonds

50. Tulisa - Living Without You

We start here with a former YTD #1 artist ('Young' topped my 2012 chart), Tulisa. Her comeback has been very muted but the song is a delightful slice of kiesza-esque dance and it has a formidable music video to boot too. I am so so happy she is back, all i need now is the hotly anticipated follow-up album. The only cover in the top 100 comes from Josef who features again, this time tackling Rihanna and offering a stunning rendition of her song. It's the song that has given him the most exposure to the general public and it's clear to see why, as it shines SO bright. One Direction continue to impress with the lead single off their latest album here, with a particular mention to the very filmic music video with wonderful easter eggs throughout, paying cheeky homages to cinema greats. Although i didn't really support this as a single from Tinashe it still features very well here, just going on to show that even her weaker moments are pretty incredible. 'Pretend' works perfectly as a duet and though some sniffed at A$AP's involvement, it really gives the song the required edge to make it stand out for me. Sam Smith's first of two entries (the second is a very mysterious album track that i have NOT harked on about for the entire year~) is the beautiful 'Stay With Me'. I was very anti-Sam after 'Money on my Mind' dropped and if i was to compose a countdown of my most hated tracks that would feature highly. This track really made me pay attention and the rest was history as i fell in love with the album too.

Hearts keep on breaking, souls keep on aching

41. Elliphant - Never Been In Love

42. Sigma – Nobody To Love

43. LIZ - XTC

44. Charli XCX - Boom Clap

45. Josef Salvat - Open Season

Josef again. I love him ok. The WINNER of a BJ song contest and all round killer track. Haus enemy of the moment Charli (what is up with that album? :S) manages to feature here for the first and most likely last ever time with the incredible 'Boom Clap. Only The Young made me fall in love with it all over again and it's very easily her best moment. Another BJSC entry here, this time from Klum Rep (B-)) repping LIZ; wonderfully playful and cheeky i struggle to ever get it out of my head and it features as the Youtube bookmark on my laptop so i hear it whenever i click on that :magic: Sigma doing Kanye proud with the huge #1 single that i have nothing but adoration for. And just missing out on the all important top 40 is Elliphant's charismatic and global anthem 'Never Been In Love'. Very cliched and predictable but sometimes the more simple a song the better and that's definitely the case here. Such a true and honest song that speaks volumes <3

Boom Clap! :yahoo: What a gem :music: I really liked Open Season in BJSC! A highlight this year along with Baby Doll () and a few others
