December 10, 201410 yr Comparing the todays chart with one from ten years ago, I'm glad that Billboard brought so many ingredients into Hot 100. I remember myself being so pissed off at Hip/Hop, R'n'B dominating top 10!!!
December 10, 201410 yr Nice to see Love me harder top 10 again, thought it'd go top 10 for one week as a result of a video release and then trail off so it's nice to see a bit of longevity, Edited December 10, 201410 yr by NellyXmas. S
December 10, 201410 yr Wow at Lips Are Movin at Top 10!!! I like that song more than AATB. I also agree and surprised that Love Me Harder has great stay in the Top 10. I thought it would reach Top 15 at best. I think it's one of the best track from My Everything so glad it is doing well. Still hoping for Be My Baby as the next single. Nick Jonas is also finding great success with his song too.
December 11, 201410 yr Yay for Taylor #1, Hozier getting another new peak i think, Meghan in top 10, Charli nearly top 100 and Sheppard a new entry  All amazing songs  Edited December 11, 201410 yr by Ultraviolence1989
December 12, 201410 yr Break free dropped out of the top 100 from #42? Ouch. 7/11 going up this week though :o
December 12, 201410 yr Author Break free dropped out of the top 100 from #42? Ouch. 7/11 going up this week though :o Well, it's really out of the Top 50.
December 12, 201410 yr That's what I thought. Break Free has been in the charts for over 20 weeks and it must have fallen outside of Top 50 this week, hence the dropout. Same for Fancy.
December 12, 201410 yr There has been an error in the title of Selena Gomez' song here for the past few weeks. Also a week late but yes at 'Yellow Flicker Beat' getting a top 40 peak <3
December 12, 201410 yr Distinct LACK of Xmas songs compared to UK charts. Where's their festive spirits?
December 12, 201410 yr Distinct LACK of Xmas songs compared to UK charts. Where's their festive spirits? Old Christmas songs can't re-enter unless they do well enough to make the top 50 (they couldn't re-enter at all until a couple of years ago I think and since the rule change it's only been Mariah who does well enough to re-enter). Interestingly, Mariah aside, the top Xmas songs in the USA have few similarities with those in the UK - based on iTunes the next two biggest after Mariah (excluding new songs) are both by something called 'Trans-Siberian Orchestra', then followed by Bobby Helms' 'Jingle Bell Rock', Brenda Lee, Wham!, José Feliciano's 'Feliz Navidad' and Bruce Springsteen's version of 'Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town'.
December 13, 201410 yr Still, ONLY the top 50 for a re-entry? Think of how many Xmas songs in the UK manage even higher let alone the top 50. Perhaps they just don't have as many "original" classics.
December 13, 201410 yr It's a lot harder for songs to re-enter the Hot 100 in general though. Mostly it's because the Hot 100 factors in airplay as well, and that puts holiday songs at a disadvantage as they don't have the airplay support that regular songs have. Also, the top 50 tends to be littered with months-old hits lingering around because of airplay, even well after their sales/streaming have tapered off, making it that much harder for holiday songs to squeeze through.
December 14, 201410 yr I hope Charli XCX makes it into the Hot 100 next week with Break the rules, such a catchy song...
December 14, 201410 yr I would imagine most countries have a distinct lack of charting Xmas songs compared to the UK! Billboard does publish a Holiday 100 so you can see which festive songs are doing the best under Hot 100 criteria. I HIGHLY recommend Trans-Siberian Orchestra, since Bré mentioned them! It's actually a band, they are very popular here and deservedly so, amazing rock classics *.*
