Christmas week has gone from the most exciting week of the year to absolute dullsville. Will we ever get the excitement back from years like 1998, 1999 or 2003?

Granted to no.1s are often easy to pick but there used to be so much going on elsewhere in the charts in this week.

I know  ! I think we are in an in between period were XF plateaus and sell less than usual and as album sales fall even at Xmas you may see in the next 5 years more artists trying to release new Xmas singles or new tracks around Xmas. Either that or it's just a quite yr albeit with one on the biggest pop songs of the yr released early last week!

Flutes hasn't been on pre-order for a year though, presumably when they took down the pre-order for Flute and replaced it with the Lethal Bizzle version in July any pre-orders up to then would have been cancelled.

It'll probably enter very highly and peak top 5 on iTunes, but missing top 10 officially.

Yeah it should shoot straight to #1 almost certainly but it won't be there for very long & will most likely fall to about the usual place Bizzle charts these days...

Maybe Lethal wants to beat Gareth's dismal performance

I think it might still be the same pre-order actually (somehow); back when it was changed over to the Lethal Bizzle version, it seemed to me that a lot of the 'customer ratings' were still there from the older version. I could be wrong, but i think it's still the same one :o

didn't look there but you're right, there's reviews dating as far back as 11 January

would love if this actually went to iTunes #1. If Union J and BMTH could do it so can this

Still top 40, which is impressive considering!

Think Flutes will chart similar to Dr. Who back in March, will just miss the top 20.

Off topic but it's weird to see Charli XCX 'Break The Rules' #13 on Australia iTunes and #53 on USA iTunes following it flopping hard in the UK.

The UK got it so wrong with this, hopefully these markets can see sense.

It will be quite an awesome moment for iTunes if Flutes enters at #1 next week. It could be that almost the whole "weekly" sale for Flutes gets logged on Sunday or in the early hours of Sunday. So if for example the weekly sale will be 26,000 then maybe all or almost all 26,000 purchases will be made on Sunday.

How long was German Whip on pre order for?

Flutes is also Blisted at radio 1 and was one of last weeks top 20 tracks so I'm sure there'll be other punters!

That was pre-streaming though so it may be even lower.

But it should have a bigger headstart than Dr. Who so it's a hard one to call.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of effect being on pre-order for a year has. If it pays off well for them, maybe others will start doing that too?

Balances each other out then  Preferred Dr. Who myself anyway.

German Whip must have been on pre-orders for at least three months. Meridian Dan was signed by PMR Records in January because of its success and was put on iTunes as a single release then.

If that happens it would make it probably the most front-loaded song I've ever seen!

Obviously it will be front-loaded, but I don't think it'll be THAT much. Radio 1 will probably be giving it a dozen or so spins on its release week, and add onto that other types of promotion like the iTunes top 10 effect and maybe some MTV plays, I think it should get a few thousand more sales later on in the week at least.

And I forgot to mention this is Lethal Bizzle we're talking about, he'll probably promote it on Twitter too, he does that even with his features.

Fairytale Of New York is back in the 59p batch. Half of the batch has been removed now, so hopefully they add some new ones. Kelly and Leona would be nice ;)
