December 14, 201411 yr The average gap between midweek and Sunday position for new entries just seems to be getting bigger and bigger, I still don't fully understand why. I know more people stream at the weekend but it's hard to believe it has that much of an effect. Sales are also considerably higher on weekends. NEs generally used to fall massively from Wednesday to Sunday anyway even before streaming was included so the factor of both now amounts to even greater falls.
December 14, 201411 yr Streaming is also making a much bigger impact. In July when it was first brought in, the number 1 on streaming was adding around 10K - now that has increased to 16K. This impact is only going to grow stronger as download sales continue to decline at the same time as streaming continues to grow.
December 14, 201411 yr Gutted that "Get Away" and "Listen To The Man" missed the top 40 in favour of "Ghost" and "Sing"
December 14, 201411 yr Glad One Direction scores another top 10 hit, Night Changes is fantastic, hope it can get top 5 next week
December 15, 201411 yr I think it's shocking that Band Aid 30 couldn't even top the sales list with the release of the physical CD. Anyway that's spun it's a poor result. As for Union J, performing on "X factor" was a mixed blessing. It gave them their biggest hit but the fall really highlights their inability to appeal beyond their fanbase.
December 15, 201411 yr Just realised that the Professor Green single missed the Top 100 completely :o (#83 on sales). Wasn't expecting that at all! Given that he's on tour at the moment, the album hasn't exactly sold well, it was playlisted on Radio 1, 'Lullaby' was a fairly big hit and his previous post-album singles all went Top 40, I really would have expected this to be Top 75 if not Top 40. I'm surprised and disappointed in equal amounts.

December 17, 201411 yr Author The answer to the question of 'how long will this year's CIN single remain ahead of last year's?' (semi-pun not intended) has turned out to be precisely four weeks, as Ellie Goulding got a push back into the top 100 from the Royal Variety Performance while Gareth Malone's All Star Choir have now been gone for two weeks after spending just three weeks inside. (Neither were top 100 last week but I have it on good authority that Gareth & co. were ahead).

December 19, 201411 yr Can anyone with access to the Top 200 tell me where Professor Green's 'Little Secrets' charted this week? I know it was #83 on sales but where did it end up officially? I saw on zobbel that last week it charted at #190 (presumably just on streams?) but wanted to find out how high it climbed this week...

December 19, 201411 yr Shocked to see Professor Green so low, I guess the Brit Rap phase has truly died a death (in the charts anyway) :( Edited December 19, 201411 yr by ML Hammer95
December 19, 201411 yr Yeah - it's strange though cos Lullaby did really well, and Little Secrets isn't exactly a bad song.
December 19, 201411 yr Shocked to see Professor Green so low, I guess the Brit Rap phase has truly died a death (in the charts anyway) :( I'll break out the champagne... :teresa:
December 19, 201411 yr That's what happens when you get a one-hit wonder to feature on your track. I don't think that has anything to do with it. 'Remedy' featured Ruth Anne and 'Avalon' featured Sierra Kusterback, both of those were zero-hit wonders, yet both singles were post-album Top 40 hits. At least people have heard of Mr Probz.
December 19, 201411 yr The release of it seemed quite messy anyway, the single pre-order got taken down and the track was taken off album-only mid-way through the week for whatever reason...
