Coldplay may manage a week at the top after all :cheer:

They probably won't, as much as I'd like them to. Adele is still a physical selling hurricane.

Coldplay doing an Adele and not allowing the album on Spotify yet

That was to be expected. They withheld their last album from Spotify too.

They could have got #1 album, had they allowed their album to be streamable

I don't think it would have made a huge amount of difference. Withholding albums from streams encourages sales, which count for more.

And because the albums at the top of the chart are further apart, the top end is almost always the same as the sales chart. It's only lower down that streaming seems to make any difference.
1 Coldplay

6 Troye

7 Fleur

8 Sigala

You mean Sigma :P

Sigma is doing really well, but I can image it'll be a 70% digital seller. I can't see this selling many physicals at all.

^ all Rita Ora fans will buy it, so 5 sales in total :)

curious to see how Coldplay do this week after the supposed predicted underperformance in the US

You mean Sigma :P

I guess my spellchecker got used to Sigala ha :kink:

How did Kylie climb so much to #14 / #24 :cheer: :o

Coldplay won't get to #1 but I still think some of the sales predictions have been a bit on the low side on here.
Sigma and Troye will be lucky to sell 20% on physicals, if that. HMV aren't stocking either in their front sections, and had a poor amount in stock in their artists sections. They won't sell anything in Supermarkets, because 1) those stores which only sell a small amount of CDs won't have it in stock at all, and 2) who is going into the Supermarket to pick up a Sigma or Troye Sivan album anyway?
Troye will do okay in Physicals (In the first week) as he has a strong fanbase, and loads will have ordered Physicals from his store.

Beatles albums £6.99 and £9.99 on iTunes.

Adele better watch out. The "Least Favourite Spice Girls Single" poll is having a wonderful effect. And it's only 1.30AM! Everyone's in BED! *.*

  • 2 weeks later...
 1. NOW 92 :cheer: I imagine it will beat its first week sales

Refreshing to not see Adele at number 1

Shame compilations don't count in the official chart :(
