January 3, 201510 yr well this thread is conclusive proof that Jahq is a flop. WD Bréseph. sad to see Secondcity and Zhu fall far behind from their official year-end positions, they deserved far better chart runs. the Secondcity/AWOLNATION shade though :hand: Sail is one of my fave indie songs

The less said about it the better really. Although look below for a better Chainsmokers song that I almost sent to BJSC ^_^ Paloma Faith is next up at #99 with the first single from her forthcoming album A Perfect Contradiction http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-xpa1/t5.0-1/41787_138659892838767_2273_q.jpg Can't Rely On You looked like being one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it top 10 hits but actually had reasonable longevity following a performance on The Voice. The track was produced by Pharrell "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS WORLD IS COMING TO" Williams too but that didn't even get Radio 1 back on board. Poor Paloma. The first single from Beyoncé's self-titled surprise 5th album was tipped to be a big smash but ultimately, XO got overshadowed by album track (and later the second single) Drunk In Love. The track is good and a lot better than most of the album for me but Drunk In Love is WAY better. The Vamps appear for the last time at #97 (smashing the Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me position in the Points Chart) with fourth single Somebody To You. The single version of the track featured vocals from Demi Lovato but Radio 1 decided to snub her and played the album version instead. Oops. It's my personal least favourite Vamps single but it's still AMAZING so no complaints at it being their most successful 2014 single (Can We Dance has outsold it though, victory for their best :heehee:). From one boyband to another, Rixton shot to #1 with their debut single. The Vamps haven't had a #1 single to date despite five top 10s...and Rixton get one right away. Damn. Me and My Broken Heart is a great track though and is a good alternative to the awfulness of Adam Levine's voice in Maroon 5. It ended up as one of the floppier #1s of the year and follow-up Wait On Me did terribly but a #1 single is nothing bad for a new group.

YG] (5-6-6-5-8-17-24-38-41-55-62-54-...) 891pts ~ 12wks Another BJSC hit turned UK chart hit comes from DVBBS and Borgeous. For the single release they added on some vocals by Tinie Tempah and retitled the song from just 'Tsunami' to 'Tsunami (Jump)'. I am a huge fan of Tinie but even I have to concede that he's completely pointless on the song (I wouldn't say it was WORSE than the original, just no better). Still a great instrumental though so it was good to see it at #1 though it wasn't one of the year's bigger #1s. Fuse ODG provided one of the first new hits of the year with his third single 'Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)', at the time of the release there was still no hint that he'd be anything more than a one hit wonder and it was a big surprise to even see it outcharting 'Azonto' let alone going on to climb in its second week and outpeak 'Antenna' as well. The song sounds more Jamaican than African which doesn't fit too well with his 'This Is New Africa' shtick but there you go, it's a very fun song as with the rest of his singles (of which there is one remaining). The only song in the top 200 I've never actually heard is at #93 - well I've heard the song (far more times than I needed to) but not Demi Lovato's version. I imagine she probably sings 'Let It Go' better than Idina Menzel but that's not hard. Demi's version, despite presumably being recorded with the aim of making the song a hit, was never close to as popular as the banshee's and never quite made the top 40 but that didn't stop it pissing around in the chart for a good 6 months as with the rest of the 'Frozen' lot. Eminem and Rihanna's holdover from 2013 is at #92 (no follow-up from 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2' even made the top 40 and Eminem's later 2014 single 'Guts Over Fear' from the 'ShadyXV' compilation made the top 10 but plummeted and isn't top 200 in this countdown) and finally at #91 is the third instance of Jeremih's sporadic relevance. 'Don't Tell 'Em' was much bigger than his two previous hits, I'm still somewhat confused by just how big it managed to be - neither of the artists are big names and it's just another DJ Mustard track, they don't usually do this well. The song doesn't even have a video, or even an official upload on YouTube. Perhaps it's just the Snap! sample. Nonetheless it gave the man who made 'My Nigga' a UK top 5 hit and it's a beautiful thing. I quite like the song too.

January 4, 201510 yr Jeremih once again proves he's more relevant than Lady GaGa, who is nowhere to be seen in the top 100 points chart this year. haven't heard the Demi version of Let It Go in full thankfully, that's not something I want to hear anyway even if it is better than Idina's version

Whilst it didn't do QUITE as well as her features, it still proved to be a decent-sized hit. Right Here featured production from Gorgon City and just missed out on the top 5 due to streaming. Imagine Dragons got boosted hugely during the second half of the year due to streaming but it showed impressive longevity in the first half too, making #32 at one point. No idea why it got that high in that particular week but if anyone can remind me it'd be much appreciated :kink: Shakira's comeback was met with a fair bit of hype, including people predicting that her new single, featuring Rihanna, would go on to make #1. Sadly, Can't Remember To Forget You made #11 instead. Damn. It plummeted down the chart in weeks 2 and 3 but was saved by the release of the music video, propelling it back to the top 40 and giving it a fairly decent run in the end. The #11 peak still hurts though. Enrique Iglesias also made his comeback in 2014, featuring none other than MR WORLDWIDE on new single I'm a Freak. The track was supported by Capital FM and got to #4 on one of the busiest new release weeks of the entire year, not bad going. A performance on The Voice sent the track back into the top 10 for an extra week too, so I'm a Freak proved to be a relatively big hit. Unlike anything else this era. There Goes My Baby failed to make the top 40 and Bailando had a really messy release. Unlike many on Buzzjack I absolutely LOVE I'm a Freak, so much fun. Generic as hell but so enjoyable. Finally, the biggest hit of 2013 continued to sell well throughout 2014, only spending a week in the top 40 following the gift card effect but racking up enough points to safely make the top 100 here. Pharrell of course has another song to come but T.I. and Robin Thicke do not. T.I.'s only other song to make the top 100 all year was No Mediocre featuring Iggy Azalea, a #49 hit and making it to #459 in the countdown. Robin Thicke faired slightly better, gaining a top 10 hit in 2014 with DJ Cassidy and Jessie J, but only making it to #202 in the points chart. Two places lower than 2014 album Paula charted in the UK. It sold 530 copies in its first week.

That song completely failed to make the top 100, much like another song of the same name in 2014 from Platinum Pixie herself, but he did maintain significant success through to the 4th single which was 'Addicted To You'. And it featured no contributions from any other artist, much like the rest of his singles. :) The song was the second best of the 'True' singles for me after 'You Make Me', go figure the two worst singles were the two big hits (both still to come). You probably all know how much I love Lorde's 'Royals' by now, it finishes in the top 100 a second year in a row with the tail end of its run, actually 6 places higher than it was last year. Unfortunately she's yet to follow it up with another big hit (in the UK anyway - 'Team' was a much bigger hit in other countries including the USA). There's another 2013 holdover at #82 from Gary Barlow who has also not got a big hit to follow it up, in fact he's not even had another top 40 since 'Let Me Go' (although the song itself re-charted as high as #22 a few months after the end of its original run thanks to some TV programme about him IIRC). And the other 2 songs here are both #3 hits that were bland to begin with and only got worse when they refused to bugger off for ages. 'Wasted' was the real jump the shark moment for Tiësto as the usually very high quality Dutchman completely sold out - he'd arguably already done so with 'Red Lights' but that was at least still a GOOD generic commercial song. Unfortunately the UK public humoured him. At least we got a good Jameela moment out of it (with regards to the 'naked version' http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-xpa1/t5.0-1/41787_138659892838767_2273_q.jpg). And at #81 it's OneRepublic with 'Love Runs Out'. It's a song. Some people liked it. I didn't much. Yawn. Moving on.

The track was used in an advert which caused it to chart initially before it got support from radio stations, as you'd expect for a new Imagine Dragons song of course. It did quite well and is their third highest peaker. Ahead of them are streaming kings MKTO, who gained most of their top 40 weeks through streaming. Quite how they did so well is another matter, considering its overall peak was #24 and its sales chart run was considerably less impressive. Can't complain though, a pretty fab track although they have better (Thank You and God Only Knows say hi). Milky Chance are at #78 with their breakthrough hit Stolen Dance. The track is quite a chilled, calm track, tipped by many to be huge but "only" managed five weeks in the top 40 (less than I remembered actually). I've never been a huge fan of the track because the guy's voice is irritating and sounds quite strained to me but ah well. Finally, we finish this section with the first two songs to cross 1000 points, and both were #1s and spent the same amount of weeks top 10, and top 40 for that matter. David Guetta had a slightly underwhelming comeback with hit Shot Me Down (forgotten not long after it came) and semi-hit Bad (missed the top 20 even with it having good longevity). Lovers on the Sun took him back to the #1 spot with vocalist Sam Martin. The two collaborated again on Guetta's next single Dangerous. Lovers on the Sun might as well be an Avicii song (he co-produced it if you couldn't already tell - lol at Avicii not being credited, almost feels like karma for not crediting his featured artists). Funnily enough, Bad is actually ahead in this countdown despite peaking 21 places lower. Lol. Finally, Aloe Blacc finally got a #1 of his own to his name (after not being credited by Avicii :) there's a theme here), with a track that heavily samples Elton John's Your Song. The sample isn't even disguised well but it makes for quite a catchy and pleasant song. Feels like such an odd #1 to me now though.
