In regards to 'Unwritten', its sales were on 180k (+/- 2.5k) in July 2013 so it's decent trickle seller!

Wow at 'Power' going silver! Only a minor top 40 hit and didn't exactly spend months lower down the top 100 :o

Hozier should be a gold certification though right?

Well done to Ed Sheeran getting a certification with an album track! Not many acts have managed that and I think most had some sort of big exposure - i.e. Emeli Sande's 'Read All About It (Part 3)' with the Olympics.

An extra certifications from last week (and yes, 'Take Me to Church' was certified Gold, not Silver):

Hozier - Hozier - Silver - Released: 2014

I wonder what the total sales of 'My Way' are? 200k downloads (or a bit less than that cos streams but there aren't gonna be that many streams for it) plus 120-ish weeks of being in the top 50 surely must add up, even if sales were very low at the time of its original release. Of course the OCC wouldn't be able to give it an accurate sales figure though.

Kendrick's album finally gold *.*

bengy99 on Haven said that 'My Way' was certified Silver for 250k sales on 24th January 1970 by DISC magazine, but is unaware of what it sold between 1970 and 2006 (the date of release BPI give, presumably when it was first released as a download). I'll try and find some more sales info on it.

Edit: Andy on Haven has an estimate of 940,000 as of May 2014. I don't think you'll get any more accurate than that.

In fact, Haven have an article about the 100 Best Selling Karaoke Classics that Magic broadcasted in August 2012 with sales from the OCC and 'My Way' had sales of 910k.

* Not sure which album this is, on Wikipedia there's one called 'Journey... Best of'; so I assume it's that one.

'Do I Wanna Know?' by the Arctic Monkeys is their first Platinum single which means it is also their biggest selling single. Not bad for a record that peaked at number 11 and when they have had two number 1 singles, a number 2 and two other top 5 hits.

Fancy finally Platinum :D hopefully Black Widow goes Gold next!

I've just noticed that 'Numb/Encore' by Jay-Z & Linkin Park has gone Platinum. The track peaked at number 14 and had an amazing run inside the top 20, meandering around positions 14 to 20 for three months from December 2004 to February 2005. The single is back in the top 75 following a price reduction at iTunes. It has now spent 44 weeks inside the top 75 and 176 weeks in total inside the top 200.

Must admit, I did have a feeling it was their second biggest single. 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' feel so much bigger so I'm surprised it's outsold it (but in a way, not surprised either seeing as it was released in 2005 ).

Black Widow :cheer: now only a Silver certification for the album is left, will it even get there :drama:

Not sure I follow you with this post. "Fancy" going platinum, "Black Widow" and "Problem" gold and "Work" silver - not sure she'll get another certification again soon unless the Jennifer Hudson collaboration ends up being a hit and helping push the album.

He's referring to the album, The New Classic, which hasn't gone Silver yet.

Really impressive for Paloma, especially in the current album market!

It really is! I remember thinking Paloma wouldn't be able to quite make 2x Platinum with A Perfect Contradiction but obviously 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' really helped keep the album selling well. FYI, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful has sold around 720k and Fall to Grace has sold around 660k.
