#3s are the worst, Uptown Funk is the only one I'd really listen to out of choice these days.

I really cannot believe we ended up with only 10 #1s this year :lol: How many were there in the last few years?

I didn't know "Happy" spent THAT many weeks at #1. Wow.

 

I chose Fancy, Counting Stars and Habits.

It's been decreasing for the past five years. The addition of streaming really has stagnated the #1 position quite a bit. Even in 2010-11 you'd see a nice turnover of hits, but then you get to "We Are Young" in 2012 when streaming was added and suddenly it's 6-, 8-, 9-week #1s in succession.

 

The best year in recent memory for turnover is 2006. Digital had just been added the year before, which led to a slew of quick-shot #1s. 19 that year, none spending more than 7 weeks, which is ideal imo.

 

As for the poll:

 

#1: "Blank Space"

#2: "Drunk in Love"

#3: "Habits (Stay High)"

Shake It Off (close run thing between that and Blank Space), Problem and Habits.
Seeing this reminds me that things could be a lot worse in the UK chart and I really hope it never gets this way. Only 10 #1s and 22 top 3 hits in an entire year?
