We've had really successful acts from it like Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and Adele; but it doesn't guarantee success, see Michael KiwanWHOka, Little WHOots and The Floppery. It's yet to be seen if Years & Years can be really big but until then fight over who was the best and which other acts shortlisted should've won. will vote for Ellie here, she's been consistently good throughout her career. Though if Y&Y continue with the good quality they could challenge her. January 9, 201510 yr Ellie is my favourite overall I think but Adele's 19 is the best album that I've heard from anyone here.
January 9, 201510 yr Difficult to choose but I went for Adele because I'm predictable. Ellie Goulding is close but has a slightly more patchy discography. HAIM also possibly close but they don't have as much material on which to judge them.

Adele's given us two fantastic albums (so far) but I feel in terms of success, 2011 was the only year in which she has shone, whilst Ellie has had 2010 and 2012-present. Ranking: 1. Ellie Goulding 2. Adele 3. Keane 4. Years & Years 5. Haim 6. Jessie J 7. Sam Smith 8. Little Boots 9. Corinne Bailey Rae 10. Mika 11. 50 Cent 12. Michael Kiwanuka 13. The Bravery 2012 was such a misguided choice by the critics, I can't remember who else was in contention but surely there was SOMEBODY more deserving of the award than Kiwanuka! I'm very excited to hear what Years & Years's début album will sound like but I've loved everything that I've heard from them thus far so I'm sure it won't be difficult to impress.
January 9, 201510 yr Keane still standing as one of the most successful winnahs *.* smash it them, HAIM and Adele are my faves from there. Years & Years could get up there if they put on a really good debut era~
January 9, 201510 yr 2007's shortlist was hilariously off looking back. Mika was pretty much the only one on there who had proper success.

Well there was Frank Ocean who came second and probably should have won, plus Skrillex, that's about it really. Probably the bleakest Sound of list to date.
January 9, 201510 yr Keane were one of my favourite acts up until 2010 when I tired of them massively, but they're definitely my favourite from the list, Hopes & Fears was such a good album :wub: Ellie 2nd fave obvs, I actually like all of the acts to some extent, even if it's only one song in some cases, though admittedly I had to remind myself of poor old Kiwanuka (Home Again was pleasant, bless him).
January 9, 201510 yr Mika's probably my favourite off there, so him, with Keane in second, followed by Haim and Ellie. Years & Years are a great choice of winner though based on their material so far so they could do very well for me.
January 9, 201510 yr Little Boots was my favourite to date, even though she kind of disappointed in the longrun. :( Safe to say Years & Years are the most exciting winner for me since then, they could even go on to become my favourite. I can only imagine they must have been on some serious rocks in 2003. :manson: (and objectively, '05 and '11).
January 9, 201510 yr Little Boots has to be my favourite. Hands is so stunning including great tracks like new in town, meddle and earthquake. Remedy is in my top 10 favourite songs ever and is just the perfect song :wub: Adele, Haim, Jessie J [mostly 1st era] and Ellie are all great also :wub:
January 9, 201510 yr Keane are the only act listed that's had me part money for an album and even that was just their best of. I find most of those acts extremely overrated.
January 9, 201510 yr Just on my personal preference, not whether they had success: 01 Ellie Goulding (my fave by miles, she's had a great rise too to become an essential popstar. Lights is still her best song but I haven't been disappointed by anything so far!) 02 Adele (love her too, both albums are great and obviously she just slayed everything and everyone with 21 :lol:) 03 Jessie J (a bit hit and miss, and her last album was crap aside from like 3 songs, but her debut era was great and she's had international success) 04 HAIM (good album, I like their sound and hope they move on to bigger and better things with their future eras) 05 Years & Years (so promising, I'm really looking forward to what they do next) 06 Mika (first era was great, but aside from a couple of songs after that I've been disappointed) 07 Little Boots (I love Hands but Christ the second album was abysmal!) 08 Corinne Bailey Rae (her albums are good enough, nothing amazing though. Put Your Records On is bloody lush tho <3) 09 50 Cent (meh, I like about two songs. Huge dip in quality after Corinne :lol:) 10 Keane (Somewhere Only We Know is a tune but I don't like anything else) 11 The Bravery (meh, barely remember them) 12 Michael Kiwanuka (see above) 13 Sam Smith (obviously he's been a bigger success than lots above him here, but I hate his personality, marketing etc. and his music is largely intolerable aside from his two epic features prior to the album)
January 9, 201510 yr The Bravery's 'An Honest Mistake' is better than most of the output of the rest of the list TBH. I haven't heard any of their other songs though.
January 9, 201510 yr It's quite interesting how basically EVERYONE outside of that bottom two/three in 2004 got huge at some point or another.
