Ouch at those Waterloo Road ratings. :( Guess the dwindling interest coupled with the move to BBC Three is really affecting it. Was quite a good episode too.
Broadchurch getting lower ratings than Silent Witness is surprising - testimony to the latter's consistency in the ratings throughout the many series or is there just less interest in Broadchurch this time round? Great ratings for the soaps though - Corrie getting its highest since last February and Emmerdale's highest since October.

I think with Broadchurch the lack of a clear direction is causing people to leave, I think it's a better show this season, but I guess on such a busy night people are less willing to stick with it.

Typing "Broadchurch" into Google shows that the last episode was quite heavily criticised so I guess its ratings aren't going to be improving much or at all.

Happy Emmerdale was still over 6 million - when it came to the cliff hanger before the 7:30 break, I was hooked to watch more rather than Eastenders! I saw the BBC 3 repeat though; great episode and 5 and half million viewers isn't too bad considering.

The BBC 3 repeat performed, unsurprisingly, very well last night. It received 643k (4.6%) - the highest BBC 3 figure since September 23rd.
I'm still very much enjoying 'Broadchurch', it's an excellent drama but I can see why it isn't rating as highly as last time because of the lack of clear direction in where the series is going. At the end of the day though, 5+ million is still a brilliant figure for ITV, especially with their recent rating problems.

I read that 'Wolf Hall' is the biggest drama premiere for BBC Two since 'Rome' in 2005!

You clearly missed the first series of The Fall! :P

Oh, I just got it from The Guardian:

BBC2’s adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall novels, starring Mark Rylance and Damian Lewis, was watched by nearly 4 million viewers, becoming the channel’s biggest new drama series since Rome a decade ago.

Maybe it means overnight figures?

Well check BARB I guess but I'm sure The Fall was over 4/5m?!

I think the big problem with this series of Broadchurch is the sheer implausibility of it all. For example, this week we had Beth attending court within hours of giving birth and the judge allowing the defence team to make wild assertions about Alec and Ellie having an affair with no evidence to back it up. I'm still enjoying it but it lacks the quality of the first series.

The Fall opened with 3.53m overnight; it was much higher with the official BARB figure though.
