August 30, 20159 yr Cheryl's reaction didn't feel contrived at all to me. Her and Simon are close friends, so for her to be concerned for him, it's only natural, no? I feel like if Rita was in Cheryl's position there, no-one would be calling it contrived.
August 30, 20159 yr Should I watch some of these auditions on youtube then? Any as good as smash hit best audición ever Cher Lloyd? Wish she's release it as a single instead of rnb she canae control! Go back to hiphop lobve.
August 30, 20159 yr I like the new panel after having some reservations. However, I do think Rita was more natural on The Voice than this. I also think she came across better on The Voice too.

Was all a bit like she just quickly chopped an onion under the desk and made herself cry for the ~dramatics~
August 30, 20159 yr Not her reaction to Simon, her reaction to the audition. Was all a bit like she just quickly chopped an onion under the desk and made herself cry for the ~dramatics~ OH I see. Still not sure I agree haha but that's fair enough, apologies for the misunderstanding ~
August 30, 20159 yr Nah. She started crying once she realised just how close to home it hit Simon and it was an emotional performance. This is the one time where I actually believed all the emotion and thought it was genuine etc..
August 31, 20159 yr I think it was genuine - I was moved by it all. It must have hit Simon hard. I don't particularly like him but I did feel for him. Cheryl was right to wonder / worry. When you see someone be completely different to how they are usually it throws you big time.
August 31, 20159 yr UK TV Ratings @RatingsUK 9 mins9 minutes ago Excluding +1, #XFactor was watched by 5.9m yesterday, 1.2m down on Saturday's episode. #Sinking I think this series could well be the last. Strictly hasn't even started yet and that takes a chunk out of its audience, will be weird to think of winter TV without it but also exciting to think that ITV might try something new eventually. Wouldn't mind I'm a celeb going too. GBBO has shown if you think outside the box a little and make a good light hearted show it can still be universally popular.

It's already been renewed for at least Series 13, which I do agree could well be the last. 5.9 is a terrible result, but I doubt they'll go back on the deal (especially as it still has a handful of syndication deals worldwide to offset reduced ratings here).
August 31, 20159 yr I guess if the next one is labelled as the 'last' series it would make it more interesting and probably pull in viewers for nostalgia reasons. I think people still would like to see a singing contest just there needs to be a new angle to it. The Voice worked because the angle of it and the chairs was the exact opposite of X factor, it is about the voice not the whole package.
August 31, 20159 yr Author A lot of viewers like me could well have turned off the audition rounds because there is too much about life story's going on instead of pure auditions. I for one am not interested in the life story's

I do hope it can recover though, the lead up to Christmas won't be the same without The X Factor every weekend :(
August 31, 20159 yr X Factor is still doing better than The Voice UK though right? I do hope it can recover though, the lead up to Christmas won't be the same without The X Factor every weekend :( The voice got 6.3m for its final but oddly enough that was the lowest rated episode of the series (6.7m for the SF). It was pulling in 8m but I think tailed off as the boring middle of the road guy was destine to win it looked like. Edited August 31, 20159 yr by sammy01
August 31, 20159 yr I think The Voice gets higher viewers for the blinds and battles because they're the bits that are different to X Factor. People kind of give up caring by the live shows because by that point it's more like X Factor, it just feels limper and cheaper than (for all the times we take the piss or lament XF, I do actually like the fact they kind of hype things up and make the show bigger). To me, the live shows should be the biggest part but my problem with The Voice is that it loses its way really and I lose interest after the battle rounds, it comes to the point where I watch it because I'm in on a Saturday and I'm bored and nothing else is on
August 31, 20159 yr But that figure, is that just live viewers? I mean ratings are falling all the time because people now watch TV when they want, plus it's Bank Holiday weekend.
August 31, 20159 yr What the f*** is happening to its ratings?? It's been steady enough the last 3 series with 8m weekly and now 5.9m for its SECOND episode?? BGT's auditions are the same format basically and the more light hearted approach to this series emulated that HOWEVER BGT was getting over 10m compared to this disaster. I really hope this is purely down to the bank holiday effect and 8m will watch next week... Otherwise my favourite programme on TV is finished :(
August 31, 20159 yr X Factor just isn't a giant anymore. It wasn't always a giant either though. The First four seasons only averaged 7.5-8.5 Million viewers (oddly the least viewed X Factor series (outside the first series) produced Leona the most successful winner). It then had four very well viewed series peaking in 2010. After which it has dropped every year. I do think next year will be the last X Factor and I don't think that is a bad thing either. 13 series is a lot, people are starting to get bored now. The way people have watched TV has changed, I am not sure if a regular program can hope to average over 10million viewers for a long period of time again. I also think this era of TV talent shows is drawing to an end, as always happens, what it will be replaced with, who knows. Maybe a return to ITV and the National Indoor Arena from Gladiators will spark some interest.
August 31, 20159 yr The way people do view 'TV' has changed but X factor will be an expensive show to make. Just think of the salaries of the judges and Olly and Caroline, the hiring of the arena's for auditions, the huge team behind it all, the big house rented out for the final contestants, the cost of royalties for the songs. So it needs big or relatively big viewing figures to justify it. BBC must rub their hands together with GBBO, cant imagine Paul and Mary demand huge money or Mel and Sue and the contestants go back home each week. Costs for it must be ridiculously small compared to the audience it brings in.
