I'm not buying Stacey and Kush at all tbh.

Shabnam/Kush and Stacey/Martin work so much better. But OF COURSE, they couldn't have one happy couple let alone two.

Yeah, I'm struggling with it too. I can kind of see the producer's intentions but even then I can't say it's necessary at all. The Masoods have a strong enough storyline with Shabnam's daughter and Stacey needs something better. We've already seen her have an affair, it doesn't need to happen again. The only reason I can see them doing this with her is to show how lonely she is (as I don't believe that she really loves Kush) which will progress into another storyline, such as the return for Sean if the episode she skyped him is anything to go by.

 

The story with Shabnam's daughter is moving along relatively quickly - a good thing indeed as we need some excitement in the show again - but it's not going to be strong enough to lead EE through summer until Autumn when the Kathy story should explode. Hopefully Max's temporary exit can help if rumours are to be believed that he'll be wrongfully imprisoned for Lucy's murder.

I'm disappointed with this storyline. It would be much better to see Kush and Shabnam happy but adapting to married life / life as a couple after their various troubles.

 

Also, Martin + Stacey needs to happen. They were building Stacey up to be the next generation Pauline until this ridiculous storyline.

I think Martin and Stacey will happen, but unfortunately not until the fallout of her and Kush which will unnecessarily push Shabnam away from everyone.

Stacey, Kush and Shabnam all deserve much better than this :( Especially Stacey, given the hype around her return it's a bit shit that a year later her first REAL storyline is just another affair. Plus people seem to be willing Kush and Shabnam to be happy, we've had the ups and downs and it's always quite satisfying when a couple finally get together after all that!

Carmel owning Bushra was the best moment of the show for WEEKS.

Carmel is great. :wub: Bonnie is very good in this role, to the point I don't think about her as being Bonnie Langford! I feared she would seem like too much of a "famous guest star" but I needn't have worried.

 

I'm a bit "hmm" about the Kush and Stacey thing too. It seemed to come out of nowhere, and as previously mentioned, Kush spent quite a while trying to win Shabnam over... and now that he has and they've become engaged, he's almost immediately lusting after someone else? Hmm. It's made me feel quite lukewarm towards him as a character. I'd have been a lot happier to see Kush & Shabnam planning their wedding alongside the Jade storyline, while seeing a romance blossom between Stacey & Martin.

I saw them talking about Shona doing that a couple of months ago, but I assumed it must have been them jumping to conclusions since we've heard nothing since - unless they've noticed something since? I hope so anyway, Whitney is one of my favourite characters and, along with others, has been very underused for a couple of years now.
