Didn't they listen to the backlash they got for Now 89? Some people never learn.

Obviously not. But when they release these spin-offs, they always have the songs in full with no seconds shaved off. If they can leave the songs on the spin-offs in full, why don't they do the same for the main series?

I guess money talks and Now 89 was a million seller and the series saw no fall in popularity.

The only way it would revert back is if people start voting with their feet and stop buying the CD's.

If they wanted to include Rixton (#12, two weeks top 40), McBusted (#12, one week top 40) & Florence + The Machine (#37, one week top 40), they should have also included Union J (#2, two weeks top 40) as they also peaked at #1 on sales
I'm torn, I'm disappointed in the continued decline in quality of the series, but I still want to buy it for all the random dance tracks that I cannot be arsed to purchase separately. I guess I'll buy it if the tracks don't bleed into each other.
Controversially I don't see the fuss. I barely notice the issue with Now 89. Perhaps I'd be more bothered were I younger and more into modern music. The novelty for me is seeing people like Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson are still relevant enough to appear a decade on.

The other three are bigger names though.

(yes i know Rixton is questionable to fit that criteria but they did have a No. 1 single and a hit in America)

Perhaps going forwards small singles by big album sellers will have to start filling spaces on Now albums a la Florence.

Give it five years until streaming accounts for 90% of the singles chart and no doubt there will only be around 30 big hit singles per Now album period, with licensing issues meaning that they will probably not have access to about 20% of them at least. Hence they will need to find 15-20 songs from somewhere, fill the CD with flops or reduce it to a one disc album.

Fine by me! More Pop Gems will get some acknowledgement

I still don't get why they seem to think that they have to fill the compilation with at least 45 songs, they could lose a couple weak songs, that way they wouldn't have to shave the songs.

So after an unlucky #11 (Ugly Heart) won the Now 89 rate, another one in Elastic Heart wins this one.

I personally like some "flops" on my Now albums. Or when they include songs in advance (~1 month before its release) and they turn to be semi sized or complete flops. They actually add variety to the album.

On a different note, I'm happy we're getting the Jonn Legendless version of "Lay Me Down".

If they replace Florence + The Machine, Rixton, McBusted and Gorgon City with Ellie Goulding, Rihanna, The Weeknd and Mike Mago, the album would be perfect

Ah of course Mike Mago! Shame to see he's not there...

At least Rixton, McBusted & Gorgon managed top 20 peaks. They really must have been scraping the barrel including What Kind Of Man...

That will most likely appear on NOW Club Hits 2015 if they make one

I hope they do. They are some of my fave Spin-Offs.

I can totally see Ellie & possibly The Weekend on NOW 91, because I think the company selling the Soundtrack of 50 Shades might be worried that the selling points of that soundtrack will be gone if they added it to NOW 90.

Kinda sucks that Madonna may never grace a numerical NOW thanks to her singles no longer being hits

Not necessarily. "Let It Go" appearing on NOW 88 didn't dent the sales for the Frozen OST. If anything, the Frozen OST nearly became the best-selling compilation of 2014.

Edited by Hadji

'Let It Go' was on the summer compilation, like Ellie is likely to be on. The 'Frozen' soundtrack had been available for six months already and the soundtrack was a bigger part to the phenomenom of the film anyway.
Does anyone know if any of the songs bleed/segue into each other yet?
What if the label have purposefully been asked by the film company to keep the rights up until the DVD release, to help remind people that the DVD is out etc? The '50 Shades...' DVD is apparently scheduled to be released in June I believe!
