Some valid points, but considering 'Heartbeat Song' is now #3 on UK iTunes, it seems that it's working just fine for more than just 'some'

Not that chart positions have ever been a sign of quality but it's obviously hitting the right notes with the general public.

Most don't read the 'this is weak' comments on the forums and have formed their own opinion on it. It's clearly not just a fan base purchase or they'd all do this well.

Obviously everybody's entitled to their opinion and I think that this time around she's being judged on how she looks.

She hasn't always been chubby, she was scarily thin during some points of the Breakaway era.

It kinda just feels like she's been written off because she's come back with weight on her and wants to talk about her baby. That doesn't resonate with the 'pop crowd'.

There are a few forums around the internet that really are as fickle as to not support an artist because they haven't got a 'fierce' video or they don't 'look hot'.

It was brought in by the whole 'Kelly doesn't care about this era so why should the fans?'

To me, during the promo in the UK she seemed very excited about it. She's not promoting as much because being a mother is more important to her right now.

She was judged very harshly on the album cover, not that I'm overly fond of it myself.

But there was a big discussion on how the record label were going to great lengths to cover up the fact that she has put weight on.

Again for the 'Heartbeat Song' video. It was really no different from many of her other videos but it was picked up because they used close up's and again tried to hide her weight.

You're right that nobody has counted on Kelly for her image previously but it seems that this time around she's been judged on it. It's just what I've seen around and not all on here.

I can't help feel that I'm right about it being any other pop female and it would have received a warmer reception.

I get what you are saying and I agree with most of your points. But I just dont feel that is happening on this forum.

I don't know what your point is. I'm just telling him the forum doesn't have any vendetta against her? Whether or not that's because she has "kick ass songs" couldn't be less interesting to me.
I thought you were using it as some sort of shade against her/basically implying that no matter what she does or releases, we'll all jump to say how much we love it. So, I miss interpreted your post and I apologize for that.

Anyway, staying away from the instant grats until I get the album *.* She's releasing one a day I believe!

I hate it when artists get accused of not caring about an era especially when it's someone like Kelly. You don't have to be promoting something all the time and everywhere. This song is up with her best for me. Hoping for it to be a big hit.
For me the problem with this era is, it screams of "will this do?" It's like they are trying to capture things that have worked in the past and trying to make it look new. It doesn't feel like a progression from Stronger.

Yes! Exactly.

Another sub par single then!

+ the whole Sia debate..yes she wrote it so it's obviously going to bear some similarity to her music, but for me it's more down to Kelly seemingly trying to sound like Sia on the track. It's a similar situation to 'Diamonds' (although this is nowhere near as great as that ofc)

I caved and listened to this (I was planning on not listening until the album was released, but meh. What can one song do?) and I really love it. Her VOX on this track are stunning *.*

About time someone opened a thread. A great song and an obvious single choice.

Lyric Video:

Will be sent to US Radio this Monday. It's happening!

Hurrah. Love this. I STILL hate Heartbeat song, but I will welcome this as a hit.

Preach!

It's not a bad song, it's just completely uninspiring and run of the mill. This type of thing has been done to death.

I can't see it being a hit, but willing to be proven wrong.
