Fair enough then, Low and Love In This Club aren't fully dance-pop songs, but contain dance-pop influences - I can accept that! Particularly compared to what they released in 2010-12.

I'm interested to see which direction music takes next too - many would say rock and indie/alternative but that seems to be concentrated on the album chart really. Hip Hop potentially, but that's negatively affected by streaming. If America reps grime then that could smash, but it won't be trend.

Maybe there'll be a noughties revival, with samples and influence from then - that could be a few years away yet tbh.

121. Hold My Hand - Jess Glynne

Looking more and more likely this'll hit #1 - just less than 3 weeks until release and already this high is a good sign!

Surprised Carly Rae is doing better than Conor currently, didn't think anyone outside of forums and her small fanbase cared about her anymore!

Looks like Kanye will have two of the top 3 pretty soon. The song has hit #1 on US iTunes which I don't think 'Only One' ever did - it won't get #1 here but could possibly get to #2?

I'd guess more people remember and hold goodwill to the "'Call Me Maybe' girl" than even know who Conor Maynard is, let alone name one of his songs, he hasn't had a song that was anywhere near the impact level CMM had and I think his own fanbase is, while sizable, not amazingly huge.

Good to see support for her anyway, the song is decent enough.

Yeah I suppose so, I just thought he had a fanbase similar to Vamps/Union J's to get a decent start to pre order's.

Pleased for her though, would be nice to see her defy the odds and get another hit.

3 number 1s for Jess Glynne when she's not even released an album is pretty damn impressive. Not to mention her #2 hit with Clean Bandit and #6 hit with Right Here.
This article from The Guardian questions whether his performance was actually raising awareness of grime or patronising it... quite an interesting read.

Very intriguing - I must admit a lot of British people think that grime is terrible, its an acquired taste really  There will always be people that think British rap is a poor relation of American rap. Personally, I think the MC's are of similar ability, its all in the promotion. In the UK, a white rapper is more likely to be signed as labels think the public will relate to them better (didn't work for K Koke or Benny Banks though ) Interesting that Novelist didn't feel 'patronised' or that they need American approval.

This article articulates my thoughts a bit better

Of course he's far from the best rapper. tbh I couldn't even begin to imagine what must have been going through his head when he made this song  how he could think that instrumental would translate into sales

It reminds me of Ring a Ling by Sneakbo.

I never thought I see Paul McCartney having 2 hits inside the top 10 as a featuring artist, the new track by Kanye West is awful.

'All Day' is my favourite Kanye track in a long time and that really is saying something!

Finding it hard to listen to anything else at the moment.
