We bring you the late news that we are very much a part of tonight's BJSC final! We are over the moon that witch house/trap banger 'WVFFLIFE (CHVRN remix)' by BLVCK CEILING is our seventh qualifier and brings our current streak up to two. It was a double whammy of good news as ALL of our votes from semi 1 also went through with us! Although it made the voting process for the final very tough.

 

It's now too late to plea for your votes with the final results in a matter of hours... but we hope lots of you found a worthwhile discovery in this! The predictions for Jadakissnia are overwhelmingly positive, could we get our best result to date tonight, and a fourth top 10? Only time will tell...

I'd somehow remembered 'Release Me' as a faceless of-its-time hit that I'd happily never hear again but Jadakissnia ha unfaltering impact has made me do a 180° :o! So surprised with how well it's aged and how glorious the vocals sound in that chorus :wub:. Thanks for preventing me from unfairly writing the song off any longer. :D

Oh this is so incredible to hear! At the time of release it kinda passed me by a bit, but over the years I grew to love it so much! Glad this has been the case for you too, it does still sound so amazing these days. :wub:

A 'BJ10' contest was ran to commemorate 10 years of BuzzJack. The aim was to send something that you thought represented the website in some way. Jadakissnia went with former BJSC winner and universally loved 'Release Me' by Agnes. This was a decision that paid off as we WON! While Gaga or Robyn were the most 'expected' winners, it was Agnes who took the crown with 325 points. This is the first time we've ever had over 300 points and by far the highest points total we've ever received for an entry. As this is not going to count towards stats, it unfortunately deprives us from having the '3 spinoff wins' record and leaves us instead still in joint first with Aquafina. We are absolutely delighted with this win and would just like to thank anyone who voted Jadakissnia.

BLVCK CEILING - WVFFLIFE (CHVRN Remix)

 

 

We decided to go down the witch house/trap route for our last main contest entry. And boy did it pay off! 'WVFFLIFE (CHVRN Remix)' gave us our highest main contest finish to date! This entry finished in 6th place (with 262 points), beating a previous best of 7th that was held by AK & LYNX ft. Veela - 'Virtual Paradise'. We were thrilled that this went down so well as we are obsessed with it. This 6th place finish, following an 8th place finish for Sonia & Selena in January, makes us the only nation to have two top 10s in 2016 so far! This change up in sound seems to be doing a world of good so far, and we appreciate that it's going down well. Much love to all of those that got behind this.

For BJSC Movies I decided to select something from one of my favourite films of all time. 'Built This Way' and its nostalgic instrumental comes from 2004 hit Mean Girls. This entry ended up coming 19th for us (with 122 points). This gave Jadakissnia a 5th top 20 spinoff result. We thank any Mean Girls/Samantha fans who took to this entry!

VHS Glitch - 'Blood In Blood Out'

 

 

We are back after a month's break with another new exciting direction for 2016. Our last entry didn't have an awful lot of vocals in it but this is the first time we've gone fully instrumental! 'Blood In Blood Out' is a glorious synthwave instrumental that takes you straight back to the 80s. There are little twists and turns throughout the 5 minutes that make it an exciting listen despite the length. I fell in love with this straight away, it took 3 times to confirm something this month but we got there in the end once we'd heard this. VHS Glitch also marks a new nationality for one of our entrants. VHS Glitch seems to be quite secretive of his(?) whereabouts on his social media/soundcloud (Location on FB: Technology, and on Twitter: The Internet, lmao) but the VHS Glitch Bandcamp page says 'Japan' so hooray at more diversity for us. OH AND IT'S OUR 10TH ENTRY *.* We hope you semi 1 people enjoy!

Blood IN and not OUT as 10th entry from VHS Glitch makes it to the final!

 

It was announced after a NAIL-BITING wait that we will be in the final of BJSC 83 in Ethanola! Synthwave instrumental 'Blood In Blood Out' by VHS Glitch survived the cull and is our 8th qualifier to date, and our 3rd consecutive qualifier. This good news saw Jadakissnian folk partying all around the country for our 10th contest celebrations. The Jadakissnian brothel in Hushkanukia is even currently draped in neon '10' signs as a mark of celebration. We would like to thank all our supporters in semi 1 and look forward to seeing how our song fares in the final!

 

Meanwhile, it couldn't be all good news as we had to say adios to a few favourites. Our most notable loss was Pagasa's 'Florida' by The Range as we gave this entry 10 points. Pagasa are really making their mark for us, as their debut entry back in February was a firm favourite also. It's a shame this couldn't qualify a la 'The Greatest' but at least we've found a brilliant discovery out of it. Elsewhere, Medhelnia made their debut that didn't quite make it with 'Faded' by Kallay-Saunders Band. A very solid debut this was as we gave it 6 points. Utopia made a return with 'Sour Candy' by Bleached but unfortunately did not vote, meaning we lost our 3 pointer. Finally, it was so close for Suedeonia but they didn't quite do enough to make it with our 1 pointer, the quirky 'Birdland' by Weather Report.

 

It was also announced that Jadakissnia are currently THIRD in the YTD with two consecutive top 10 hits! Sonia & Selena, BLVCK CEILING and CHVRN all raised a glass to a year of newfound success.

Cool rank there, BLVCK CEILING is already really high in my affections (possibly as high as 3rd?) so a great favourite there. My top two would be ONUKA and AK & LYNX/Veela actually so we just have the same top 3 but shuffled! Muhsinah is also my least favourite, my only entry that I've regretted. Ahh well. x
