Really love the vibes~ of this <3 thinking you're gonna be hogging the top 10 once again, I am jealous xx

I wish you could have been in my semi to possibly push a couple of the great songs that just missed out over the line :'( (although depends on who just scraped in I guess)

I'm so pleased that you have taken to this! In fact, how you've taken to my entries this year in general. Pressure's on now for next year to somehow keep it up :kink: Anyway, I hope you are right in thinking that 'cause that would just be amazing <3 Rounding off a pretty daym successful BJSC 2k16 with a last bit of success would be the icing on the cake.

Oh gosh I know right :'( Justice 4 Deandria, Tartford, Ethanola etc. A shame for both of us to have lost a few faves when the semi was so strong!

~BJSC EOY 2015 - TOP 100~

20

Avec Sans - 'Resonate'

Quintessa | BJSC 79

From one Quintessa entry to another, though this came a contest before '1/M/T'. Quintessa were just on fire in late 2015 as I gave them two 15s in a row! 'Resonate' was undeniably beautiful for me. From that very first listen of it I just remember being absolutely blown away by the chorus. It has still not tired in the slightest and sounds every bit as magical now. The vocals are stunning and the production is fabulously synthy alongside, just the way I like it. The video was also very simple but effective, the white and blue colouring being very nice. This huge chorus had the appeal to get an 18 by anyone from Hendinia to Persephonia. Avec Sans finally connected with BJSC after two previously not-so-great results, as 'Resonate' rightfully smashed into the top 5!

19

Two Steps From Hell - 'Miracles'

Terra Avium | BJSC 76

This is another song that received a silver medal from me, courtesy of the wonderful Terra Avium. This is the first of two entries in the top 20 for this nation. Anyway, this entry introduced me to Two Steps From Hell and I immediately wanted to know more as this was just so good. I am an absolute sucker for strings for starters, and they just sound so beautiful throughout. This just builds excellently, it's such a spine-tingling moment when the vocals begin to come in and the emotion just heightens - until hitting the peak of those final glorious couple of minutes. All the gorgeous instrumental and vocal contributions brought together just give me goosebumps. This stood out for miles in the BJSC 76 final and I'm so glad it did well.

18

Andy Duguid feat. Jaren - '7even'

FSR Rontvia | BJSC 74

I feel like I always forget quite how stellar this is until I listen to it. This is an absolutely stunning bit of vocal trance! I've just re-listened to it now and I had to replay it - it is just that impactful. The song is based on a sad true story about a young cancer victim, and the video appears to explore the stages before death. Knowing the meaning behind it, hearing the words being sang with incredibly emotive vocals (especially the elongated ones!) and also watching the haunting video all make for incredibly powerful viewing and listening. This actually wasn't all that instant for me in the semi, but it hit me properly in the final and I didn't know what I had been missing all that time. One enormous highlight from my debut contest that I've grown to love even more since then.

17

Wrathschild - 'Mars'

Avalonia | BJSC 77

This is still the best thing that Avalonia have unleashed on the contest. I remember very well when Liam played this on plug (when that was allowed x) on behalf of the Avalonian people considering it as a potential, and I insisted that they needed to send it. It hit me straight away! This just appeals to me in such a huge way. Firstly the synths throughout are incredible, especially the little synthy section post-chorus each time. The vocals are incredibly dynamic and playful as well, plus this is an example of where a bit of autotune actually is quite effective. Love the space theme going on as well. They need to get this back on Spotify, those hoes taking it off!! This received a juicy 15 points from me in the contest and still sounds fabulous.

16

Koven - 'Get This Right'

Altyr Muunilinst | BJSC 77

This was the song that beat 'Mars' to an 18! This is what I had my heart set on sending in 77, but sadly family issues arose and I wasn't able to confirm quick enough. It was instead Altyr Muunilinst that got their hands on Koven! We weren't bitter and of course had to give this the gold medal that it deserved. I took to this so much as it was just SO full of energy. I am a fan of Drum & Bass in general and this isn't too dissimilar in sound to Chase & Status, an act that I adore. This builds up wonderfully to THAT manic production in the chorus, which feels incredibly euphoric coupled with the soaring vocals. This still sounds like it could be a massive smash in real life, especially in summer 'cause of the video. This gave Altyr Muunilinst a top 3 hit.

15

The Internet feat. Kaytranada – 'Girl'

Espen | BJSC 76

This is another 18 of ours that has fallen out of the running! The autoqualifiers for this contest were absolutely on point, but especially 'Girl'. I knew of The Internet a little bit, due to 'Special Affair' being a Persephonian potential, but I wasn't quite prepared for how much I was going to love this! Firstly, Kaytranada is an absolutely incredible producer. So slick. The general ~vibes~ of said production are so relaxed and excellent. Then the vocalist has such an incredibly smooth voice on top of this! They just match together effortlessly to give you the ultimate chilled out track. The lyrics of the chorus are very sweet as well! Everything about this is pretty much perfect, minus the video of course! Which is a tad GCSE media student gone wild  But I shall let that slide~

14

Hopium - 'Right Now'

Oslol | BJSC 76

Ah this was my brief Oslol stanning phase. They also still have another entry to come! Anyway, I still cannot get over how poorly this did in the semi. This sadly DNQed, with myself and D'yermak'er giving it most of its points. It did at least receive justice in Rejects, getting to the final and doing pretty damn well in it! The song received my full 12 in the semi as its brilliance was apparent to me on first listen alone. The song, much like the last one in this countdown, is incredibly slick. The production in particular, which really makes this what it is. The vocals are pretty passionate with an underlying feeling of anger, particularly the delivery of 'f***' in the chorus. I also adore the layered vocals post-chorus and the heavily edited ones right at the end. Also, lewd video alert. But the video is very well done and pretty captivating.

13

Ji Nilsson - 'Encore (Boeoes Kaelstigen Remix)'

FARC | BJSC 77

Oh look, another case here of a song that should have smashed and not DNQed! Unlike Hopium however, this actually did come really close to qualifying. But much like Hopium, this was another semi 12 that I ended up losing! The Jadakissnia 2015 12 curse was not fun, thank god that seems to have not carried on into 2016. Anyway, this sounded magnificent when it was first played on plug.dj so I was very pleased to see it being sent. The remix really does a lot to elevate the original here, much like another FARC entry still to come. The vocals are delightful, and the production is so infectious and summery. Such an uplifting song that still sounds like a big hit to my ears!

12

Sidewalks & Skeletons - 'EXHUME'

Aeroche | BJSC 73

This song was entered just one contest before I joined, so I didn't quite get to vote for it at the time. But it would have of course received big points from me! I have Aeroche to thank for introducing me to witch house through this, as it's now something I absolutely adore and have dabbled in myself in the contest. This is an incredibly striking (largely) instrumental. The production is insanely good. Just so spooky and haunting, I get chills every time from listening to this magnificent song. The aforementioned production is so huge that it can stand alone, but the tiny bits of choppy vocals are a very welcome addition too. This is so addictive, I cannot begin to imagine how much I've played it. Such a great song, as well as 'Goth' being a massive Sidewalks & Skeletons highlight. This rightfully smashed!

11

Owsey, Jernalism & Resotone - 'I've Been Secretly Falling Apart'

Terra Avium | BJSC 80

Terra Avium are just one of two countries that have received more than one 18 from me. One of these was in 2016, and the other was this very song! Oh my god where do I even start. This is just absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful. This really heightens the emotion of the Aqualung sample for me. I think the production and vocals just have more of an emotional effect. Gosh the most emotional part for me however are the little cries of "I'm so sorry...", "Please don't do this..." and the other spoken word parts. Every small detail of this is just excellent. One that I still go back to frequently because it's so peaceful, stunning and hits me hard every time as a result.

LORIS! :o You must be like the only person who cared about it hahaha

I remember being so gutted when that DNQed! BJSC was definitely sleeping on that one tbh.

Yasss at Kinnie again *.*

Hoping a couple of my entries can sneak into your 2016 one if you do one!

Haha yesss *.* Kinnie still definitely up there with your best

I do really want to do one this year! Maybe in the Christmas holidays because of lots of free time, but we shall see.

Still fab to see 3 of my fav entries here *.* (doubt there will be any from 2016  )

I still love them all a lot <3 'St. Patrick' would have gotten so many points from me if I was around when it was entered!

Yay, two entries in your top 20, just about worth the 10 month wait :kink: I'm very pleased you took so well to Owsey & Two Steps From Hell, the latter is definitely my favourite ever entry and quite personal to me, their other material is very much in the same vein if your interested in checking them out!

Lots of wonderful entries and a lot of my own favourites in the top 100 here, I hope you can do one for this year as well!

~BJSC EOY 2015 - TOP 100~

10

Dawn Richard - 'Tide: The Paradox Effect'

Persephonia | BJSC 72

Time to kick off the top 10 with none other than our faves, Persephonia! This song was entered two contests before I joined but would have most certainly received top points from me. I remember this being played during the early days of plug.dj and being completely blown away by it. The song is so special and unlike anything I've ever heard before. The structure of it is so wonderfully idiosyncratic! The vocals are lush and that production is so heavenly. Whenever I listen to it, I get so excited for the instrumental parts to come around each time as they truly make it. Plus OH MY GOSH the video is absolutely spectacular as well! Some of the best visuals that I have seen in BJSC. I was so shocked to find out a while ago that Dawn Richard was a member of Danity Kane, as I know 'Damaged' by them quite well and this is so far apart from that in sound. Anyway, she seems so promising from both this and 'Phoenix'! Baffling that this is only available on the vinyl edition on her album, it's way too good for that!

09

Everything Everything - 'Distant Past'

ProJ | BJSC 73

ProJ come back to us!! Here we have another song from before I even joined the contest. Clearly I should have signed up a little earlier! I had heard of Everything Everything before through their top 40 song 'Cough Cough', but had never thought to venture into any of their other material. So thank goodness for BJSC for letting me discover this and its sublime accompanying album 'Get To Heaven'! Everything Everything have a pretty cool style going on from what I have gathered - it all feels so frantic in such a thrilling way! The delivery of the verses in particular. I just adore said delivery, the production and the quirky little addition of both the male and female 'distant past' in the chorus. The visuals and the general theme is pretty interesting too! An ultimate BJSC 73 highlight for sure.

08

Paulini - 'Air It All Out (7th Heaven Remix)'

FARC | BJSC 73

Another song here from before I joined, haha! Paulini would have most definitely secured my top points in BJSC 73. Which would have changed the winner, eek! This had to settle for 2nd behind Daehun. Anyway, here we have an absolutely banging remix of 'Air It All Out'! It's crazy how much this improves the original, which is a bit lifeless for me. On the other hand this is a massive anthem! I recall this being played on plug.dj and just immediately becoming obsessed. 7th Heaven are absolutely stellar with their remixes, they really know how to make a song just sound MASSIVE in a euphoric 'put your hands in the air' kind of way. Paulini's vocals simply soar here and I love the inspirational lyrics. What a triumph *.* I could use more of this euphoric kind of dance in BJSC!

07

DANCE WITH THE DEAD - 'Waves'

Persephonia | BJSC 79

Right, here is a song that was actually entered since I joined! Here we have Persephonia's second entry in the top 10. This received 18 points from me in the contest which made the nation the first one to receive more than one 18 from me at the time! First of all, BRAVO BuzzJack for actually making this a huge hit in the contest! There was a lot of "this would be better with vocals" talk but that didn't seem to matter in the end. For me personally this is just perfect the way it is and does not need vocals to enhance it - as it's at such a high standard already! I'm pretty obsessed with synthwave so naturally of course I was going to eat this all up. What draws me to this is the retro sound. Plus it just sounds so HUGE - it manages to get stuck in my head despite being an instrumental. This song is always an instant pick me up and shall continue to be a go-to BJSC favourite forever. Up with Synthwave. *.*

06

Camelphat feat. A*M*E - 'Paradigm'

#00274E | BJSC 75

#00274E narrowly miss out on a top 5 placing for 'Paradigm' but do pretty damn well nevertheless. I recall quite liking this in the semi but not giving it double-figure points. However it LEAPT in my affections when the final came around and received my full 18! It is also in the rare club of entries that have been a Personal Chart #1 for me. Anyway, this is just so good! I can see why it was a grower as the production takes a bit of getting used to, contrasting quite a bit with the vocals during the verses. However I soon embraced this and now I adore the slight quirkiness of it. So yes the production is banging and A*M*E's voice is just made for dance! Bring the two together and we have one pretty heavenly creation. This thankfully smashed all the way to 3rd place in the Perseventyfive contest!

05

Findlay – 'Electric Bones'

Oslol | BJSC 74

We kick off the top 5 with my heartbreaking introduction to the contest! Yes, I lost my 12 in my first ever BJSC. Oslol managed to captivate me with this indie-pop (?) song from the word go and I was so gutted that it didn't quite make it. I was pretty obsessed with this and would play it on repeat ALL the time last year. The song isn't quite as lewd as the video would suggest, it simply appeals to me because the bridge and chorus jump out as strikingly memorable and the production is top notch. I love the vocal effect in the chorus that sounds like scratching a disc too and the guy coming out of nowhere to deliver the middle 8. Her voice truly makes me sit up and take notice as well, it's wonderfully clear and distinctive. It's a shame that BJSC didn't quite take to this but who needs that when you've ended up in Jadakissnia's top 5 of 2015 instead tbh. Oslol absolutely killing it for me in both BJSC 74 and 76!

04

Kishi Bashi - 'I Am The Antichrist To You'

Singerpurear | BJSC 78

I seem to recall this not fully clicking with me until the final. But boy when it clicked, it clicked and THEN SOME. The song almost reduces me to tears every time it's just that heartbreakingly stunning. This was a surprising sound from Singerpurear for me as I was used to a more eccentric and bold sound from them, whereas this was a slow, gentle and emotional affair. Gosh the delicacy of this is just beautiful. The combination of such a captivating voice, pretty subtle production including a sensational use of strings, plus a fantastic animated video secures this as a firm favourite. Singerpurear indeed got my full 18 with this song and I was so bloody happy to see this absolutely smash in the contest. One of the most moving pieces of music that I've heard in recent times.

03

Diablo Swing Orchestra - 'Justice For Saint Mary'

What | BJSC 79

Bronze medal goes to What! This was yet another example of where my 12 DNQed in the semi and it felt like such a HUGE loss at the time, as I was (and still am) pretty obsessed with this song. Being bold and able to take a risk is something I admire in BJSC, and this does that in bucketloads. I truly haven't heard anything like this ever, let alone in BJSC so it truly was a massive risk - for being pretty out there and 8 minutes long for starters. Perhaps this would have done better in 2016 now that long songs are more accepted? Anyway, this did have HUGE fans like myself but not quite enough to make the final. Gosh where do I start with this. This is the definition of enthralling for me. Those emotive vocals and the absolutely epic production throughout that surrounds them has me sold. But I think the best thing about this is the crescendo. This builds into something spectacular! I certainly was not expecting this to build into a dubstep section as it progressed! Truly marvellous. THAT'S how you do a debut entry folks. Please come back to us What!!

02

A-WA - 'Habib Galbi'

Persephonia | BJSC 74

Silver medal goes to Persephonia! This was my first ever 18 awarded (an 18-swap as they also gave me one for Last Lynx! <3) in a final and what a way to start off my chain of 18s. This was actually 'only' my 10 in the semi, but as you can see it grew further in my affections than 'Electric Bones' in the end. Everything about this is just utterly infectious! Starting with the production - the instrumental post-chorus in particular really rammed this into my brain really quickly. Yemenite folk singing and electronic dance music was not a fusion I was expecting to come across but damn doesn't this work well. I don't need to understand a word of what is going on to be completely hooked on everything that the A-WA ladies are singing. Plus the dancing and everything about the video just continue to add to the fun! Persephonia are so great at sending something a bit barmy but iconic all the same. It was quite amazing witnessing the slow trek that this had to the top, but it did it and is one of the most standout and iconic winners of BJSC to date. It came so close to being my favourite of the year, but I guess it can still have the moral 'non-cheap retrospectively' win, when my winner is the next song...

01

Galantis - 'Runaway (U & I)'

Aquafina | BJSC 71

Here we go, my gold medal and the crème de la crème! I was unsure whether to base this on songs I discovered purely through BJSC or not, but in the end I would've had to omit a few songs so I just decided to go with the songs I truly love the most. And this was my favourite song of 2015, let alone BJSC 2015! This spent a staggering 6 weeks at #1 on my personal chart - more than any other song to date which speaks volumes of how much I love this. This was introduced to me through plug.dj shortly before it was a hit and I was shocked at how good it was! I was already familiar with 'You' by Galantis but this knocked that out of the park. I was immediately swept up in the euphoria of this. The endearing cutesy vocals in the chorus matched up with huge-sounding production delivers a perfect dance song. This builds up just wonderfully, being pretty mid-tempo in the verses before that absolute explosion of a chorus comes around. Feel-good dance (that avoids being painfully generic) is one of my favourite types of music so this appealed to me in a big way. This never ever fails to put a smile on my face. Congratulations Aquafina! Your songs have been missed in 2016.

---♫---

That's a wrap! :cheer: So sorry that it took me so long to complete this, but hooray at a wave of motivation at last. Thanks to everyone who followed this, I really appreciate all the comments over the past year and anyone who has read these things. Much love~ <3 Shall try and work on a 2016 one soon!

BJSC 90 Results

HÆLOS - 'Earth Not Above'

http://i.imgur.com/cyMyii2.jpg

Last night the final BJSC of the year concluded in Aeroche with pretty graphics galore. It was a nailbiting journey throughout for us, but following a scoreboard lock-down it was revealed that we smashed it in 2nd with 296 points! This isn't quite our biggest points total to date (that goes to MssingNo which received 323) but this is our best position ever in a main contest, beating our previous best of 3rd just two contests ago! Our entry 'Earth Not Above' by HÆLOS also came 3rd in the semi (with 91 points) which is our third semi top 3 in a row! We are absolutely blown away by the success of this entry and we would like to thank everyone who voted for it, thus resulting in a very successful end to the year for Jadakissnia! Especially those who gave it medal positions - 18s from Florina, Singerpurear and Terra Avium, 15s from Republic of Adonia and Republique d’Ashton & 13s from Espen, Fljótavík and Syndare! We are thrilled to have ended the year with 9/10 qualifiers and 7 top 20s including 6 top 10s (video montage of all 2016 entries

) and it looks like we have also come top 5 in the YTD - what a year!

The winner of the contest, beating me by 8 points, was the very hosts of the final results Aeroche with 'Fate' by Fraunhofer Diffraction! This song was the recipient of my 15 points so we were very happy that the winner was of very high quality. Our 18 this time round went to Skall with David Lyme 's retro Spanishy and synthy jam 'Bye Bye Mi Amor' - a first 18 ever for this nation! This song came 20th. Our bronze medal then went to a grower, and no stranger to our points, Terra Avium with Kıtchen's - 'Time', which finished just one place behind in 21st.

Thank you to the following who voted for 'Earth Not Above': Zanmatony, Summericia, Avalonia, Hushkanukia, Unovia, Skall, Usfland, St. Burbia, Tinnmark, Persephonia, Bøtannikä, Taahino, Trifoski, Espen, Séyetana, Deandria, Fljótavík, Florina, Singerpurear, #00274E, Kylienips, Medhelnia, Lomaja, Tartford, Terra Avium, Ethanola, Republic of Adonia, Harmonica, Ajanaeda, Syndare, Republique d’Ashton, Yehesi & N DNTN!

Which leaves us with these countries as our faves/biggest fans for the end of 2016...

Lmao  what can I say, I'm a very consistent Persephonia supporter *.*

Aw no problem whatsoever, I'm glad that you found some worthwhile discoveries through me - especially that 18 for 'Arcade Summer' <3 No problemo! Such a shame that you didn't make it this month, you would have been in the very small club of people who have received more than one 18 from me if so!

yasss Jade WD :cheer: that chart run looks incredible btw *.*

looking forward to keys&Cages hopefully showing up in your EOY ;)

Aw thank you Rob! :cheer: Well done yourself on getting a brand new peak with one of your best entries of the year *.* Finally getting points from me at last!

Haha it was all about the spinoff chart-run last year, but have managed to flip that success into the main contest this year instead! It does look pretty cool *.* and haha you shall just have to wait and see regarding Keys&Cages! ;) but what a song that is

Omg at you actually finishing your EOY properly and not copping out like I did months ago, you defo didn't leak this all to me in like January :kink: So many of your top 10 coming from before you actually joined though! (yasss for Dawn Richard being one of those as well as A-WA and DANCE WITH THE DEAD being there of course ) Major hearts for Kishi Bashi, Everything Everything, Owsey, Sidewalks And Skeletons, Ji Nilsson, Andy Duguid, Two Steps From Hell and Avec Sans as well. Yay. (And I had actually totally forgotten about 'Special Affair' existing!! Thanks for reminding me about that lmao, great tune)

Absolutely adoreeee 'Earth Not Above' as well ofc and totally would have been rooting for it to be your first winner if it didn't happen to coincide with my 18 winning xx Have fun with the jukebox of getting an AQ or not in January.

(I can't at me not even being your biggest fan of 2016 though  how do I bloc vote for you every time and still give you less points than Chez Wombat did?? Must try harder next year)

Haha I know right! Cannot quite believe that a wave of motivation came around in the end! Never thought the day would come where this was actually finished :kink: (Haha oh yes, definitely no EOY leaks at Brate #1 xo) Indeedy, it's a shame that I didn't get to help some pre-74 faves out at the time of their contests.

Woop woop, your 2015 slayage in this countdown *.* Glad that you approve of so many of my top 10 faves #nsync x (And haha you're welcome!! That particularly stuck with me out of your potentials from last year, good tune indeed x)

I am very pleased that you were into 'Earth Not Above' *.* and haha that's fair enough, was more than happy to see Aeroche beat me with such an amazing song - and it was a new peak for me anyway so yessss. Haha oh gosh, there better be an even number of participants in Jan!!

(Oh my god I know right  M8 sort out ur stanning x Perhaps next year hehe *you hate everything I send in 2k17* ;) x)

yay for paradigm and yay for your entire bjsc year tbh!

'Paradigm' is a choon of life *.* still your best since I joined  yassss glad that you were a fan of quite a few of my entries this year <3
