Stall at a 5 Q-streak? We Do It Again...

It was announced tonight in Taahino in a NAIL-BITING show-down with Cor Lupus that we will not be advancing to the BJSC 92 final. Despite 100% Q predictions and high odds across the board, it simply wasn't meant to be for 'Do It Again' by SOLDOUT featuring GOOSE. The duo may have won for us in Worldvision but the success did not quite continue as we finished 23th in semi 2 with 41 points. Our most successful DNQ position-wise so... perhaps a good shot a Rejects? We shall see. For now, at least we got to unleash it and sent a new nationality (Belgian) to the main contest! Our qualifying streak of 5 (which all went top 15!) is now over so it's back to the drawing board. This is our 4th DNQ now out of a possible 19. Perhaps time to be a little bit more experimental for our 20th entry. Cheers to anyone who did point us in the semi/got some enjoyment out of this entry!

The bad news didn't end there as gorgeous Sigur Rós soundalike 8 pointer 'Blackbird' by Martyn Bennett (sent by Skall) departed, as well as our 7 pointer 'Fantasy' by Prince Rama (sent by Summericia); we had considered a different Prince Rama song as a potential so perhaps we dodged a bullet there. Land of DW were also on form for us again and received our 5 points for 'Missy Queen's Gonna Die' by Toktok vs. Soffy O. Sadly this also did not qualify.

Onwards and upwards...

:'( hopefully some justice in Rejects x

:snif: this is definitely the most surprising of your DNQs so far eek. Hasss to be one for the Rejects.

Tell me about it! This one hurts even more than Stranger Cat </3 Remind me to not get swept up in the hype next time this happens. ;) x

Popakissnia coming to slay, pls?

This is a good opportunity to be more experimental... lemme see what I can find.

I'm honestly stunned by seeing you Dnq with this Jade. I think you'll be a big contender to win rejects already though but IDGI :(

& my 12 gone as well :snif:

Gah me too Rob, me too! I guess no matter what odds/predictions you get, you're never really safe. Also really gutted that you didn't make it!! Thank you for the discovery <3

Still strange how this DNQ'd when it was one of my winner contenders during the beginning of the week...

:( I appreciated your belief in this song! A shame it wasn't meant to be this time.

BJSC Masquerade Results

http://okp-cdn.okayplayer.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/tame-impala-2016-tour-dates-715x477.jpg

Our entry for BJSC Masquerade was unveiled in Séyetana today! We represented Flynnonda and selected Tame Impala from their back catalogue, with the song 'Let It Happen'. We are pleased to report that we came in 8th place with 148 points! This is our first spinoff top 10 since Glasvegas in BJSC Christmas. We achieved all four of our previous spinoff top 10s (that count to the stats) in 2015; last year turned out to be a pretty quiet year for us in these contests on the side. So it feels good to be high on the spinoff scoreboard again! We are pleased that 'Let It Happen' appealed to lots of you and could be an amazing discovery for some like it was for the people of Jadakissnia. We were pleased in particular to receive the highest honour of an 18 from Trifoski! A very promising start to the year for us with spinoffs.

South Danaelanda were crowned the winners fresh off their first place in the latest main contest! They're doing pretty well for themselves lately. Who was it that they masqueraded? Well, none other than Jadakissnia :o They won with FM-84's 'Running In The Night', an artist we previously sent in BJSC 87 with 'Arcade Summer'. We were over the moon that this song triumphed over everything else as it was our 18! Although I guess it's slightly frustrating that we've had four 'fake' wins now - two due to deduction, one in BJ10 that doesn't even count to the stats and now one where someone else was us  We are very happy for South Danaelanda anyway. The results continued to be very pleasing for us as our 15 points finished in 2nd! This was 'Jason' by The Midnight featuring Nikki Flores. This was unveiled as a Harmonica entry which surprised us somewhat! But it was a fantastic choice from them that really paid off. Harmonica's close friends Desbuanda got our bronze medal as FSR Rontvia impersonators - sending 'Desire' by Tensnake. This sadly suffered from a deduction and ended up in 23rd place.

Thanks to the following nations for voting for us: Unovia, Quintessa, Niceland, FSR Rontvia, Ajanaeda, Persephonia, Flynnonda, Cor Lupus, South Danaelanda, Florina, Aelandor, Cadelicia, Medhelnia, Terra Avium, Pupok, Ultraviolenceland, Trifoski and Harmonica

Lemme see ya sit down, sit down~

Queen of the fake wins  (yess for FM-84 having a win to his name, definitely should look up more of his stuff if this and 'Arcade Summer' are anything to go by. Fab for Tame Impala going top 10 too ofc <3 not a discovery for me but a great band and a great song xx)

Lmao I know right  one of these days I'll actually have a win that cannot be undermined in any way ;) x Anyway yess indeed, FM-84 seems like such a promising talent so I'm glad that the BJSC voters have taken to both 'Arcade Summer' and now 'Running In The Night' even moreso!

Woo, I was so happy with that result  a great song indeed, I'm definitely going to have to check out more of their stuff and take up your suggestion of purchasing a record of theirs *.*

aYia - 'Ruins'

Last night it was announced in South Danaelanda that our 20th BJSC entry is 'Ruins' by aYia! This electro-pop group are pretty new as they only have two songs in studio form available on the interwebs. One of these is the wonderfully pulsating 'Ruins' that we selected. The slightly sinister synths really drew me in and then the vocals just take it to the next level as they're so striking. Particularly on the elongated notes. The switch-up to a little chanty segment is pretty cool too. aYia are from Iceland which means that they are the first Icelandic act that we have sent to the main contest! We have been drawn in slot 15 of semi 1 so help us rebuild our Q streak again semi 1 voters! The trio seem very promising already, we were torn between two tracks of theirs initially, but this one won me over - particularly with the longer duration.

The other song we had in contention was 'Water Plant', so feel free to check that out too:

Well that's a very dark sounding track...the synths are sinister indeed, sounds like a soundtrack for a horror film.

It is very good though, and Buzzjack Mountain hopes to support this track in some way!

Haha I do seem to be drawn to dark songs when looking for potentials a lot of the time :kink:

Cheers for the hype Snakey *.*

It is very good [2]

:D

Yayyyy Mattias  pleased that you're a fan too, especially as you're in my semi! :kink: your song sounded amazing from the clip of it that Dan played on plug during the entry reveal, looking forward to hearing it in full later at the session *.*

Yes there seems to be little chance of there being a Jadakissnia funky house entry en el futuro!

Maybe I'll make it my mission to find a funky house entry when the time comes for a Buzzjack Mountain hosted contest! :kink:

If there is ever a Buzzjack Mountain contest it will be hosted in the crater at the summit (Buzzjack Mountain is an extinct volcano).

Well that sounds like a pretty iconic location to me, you to win sometime soon tbh.

This actually gives me more La Femme - "Sphynx" vibes

Oh wow! :o The honour of it being compared to such an 11/10. *.* I kiiiiinda see what you mean though with the dark synths and all!

I am quite sure that due to proximity of geographical location on the map, a Jadakissnian co hosting may be on the cards if King Bellsprout agreed in that case.

A BJSC held in the Buzzjack Mountain crater and in the iconic Michelle McManus Mine (the centre of Buzzjackian jade mining) deep below Jadakissnia would be such an atmospheric contest.
