November 2, 20222 yr Author I could be way off here but I keep hearing the melody of Moonlight Shadow throughout this! Ha I compared this style of music to The Shadows and they actually did a cover of 'Moonlight Shadow', so it's basically this! :kink: 3tyYb3yXLhI
December 4, 20222 yr Author BJSC 150 Oscillian - Ulysses 31 at5o1kt1A2w We have chosen to round off the year in Oslol with a classic Jadakissnian sound - synthwave! This is courtesy of Swedish producer Oscillian. Our entry this time is inspired by the 80s anime Ulysses 31 and the upload we selected to send in features various clips from it. This song, taken from 2017, was merely a bonus / hidden track from the album Ad Astra which is surprising, as it sounds so huge to these ears. It's mostly instrumental, save for some spoken French parts, but is completely action-packed nevertheless. We have pretty good form with synthwave and even anime adjacent entries (see: Somnium - 'Sinking') so could this round off the year on a high for Jadakissnia? Oscillian can be found in semi 2 of the landmark 150th edition of BJSC. BJSC Halloween 4 Results Echoberyl - Salomé (Suffer Me) Jadakissnia's musical penchant for all things dark continued to work to our advantage as we kept up our 100% rate of top 10 finishes in Halloween spin-offs! The spooky, synthtastic offering from Echoberyl finished in 3rd place with 97 points - our joint highest result in these spin-offs after also placing 3rd in the previous edition. We are thrilled with this *.* Our streak is 100% odd numbered top 10 finishes at that, as the results look like this to date: 07-05-03-03 Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this entry  BJSC 149 Results Los Bitchos - Good To Go! Our previous main contest result wasn't quite as much of a success story as the Halloween result but we were delighted to have made the final at all *.* We are still yet to finish in the bottom 5 of a final as Los Bitchos narrowly escaped this, with 36th place and 118 points. We'll take that for something so different to our usual sound! Thank you to all who pointed this <3 Last but not least... Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Jadakissnia :cheer: gh48tFPfWZM

January 17, 20232 yr Author BJSC 151 Rosegarden Funeral Party - Gates of Heaven KZQS9JYgh6g A brand new year of BJSC is here in style courtesy of D'yermak'er! My nation is excited to unleash Rosegarden Funeral Party as the 78th Jadakissnia entry to date. My true Gen Z colours are showing as I discovered this striking band through the comment section of a TikTok video asking for goth music recommendations. I then explored their YouTube channel, was suitably impressed, then ended up torn between this and another track of theirs called 'Once In A While'. I loved both but ultimately thought 'Gates of Heaven' would be appreciated in the contest more thanks to its explosive chorus. Lead singer and guitarist Leah Lane has an incredible voice and provides a very commanding presence in the video. This song feels like a trip to the 80s with its Siouxsie and the Banshees style sound. The lyrics relentlessly search for solace and become particularly claustrophobic during the spoken section right towards the end. The crescendo is an electrifying guitar solo with a fade-out. We hope Semi 2 listeners will enjoy this sound from us - fingers crossed that we can build our Q streak up to 6 in a row. 'Gates of Heaven' can be found in the pleasingly round slot 10. P.s. got to love the very brief close-up flash of 'Tidal' by Fiona Apple in the video as part of the vinyl collection back-drop <3 ~~~ Worldvision VII Results The Moody Blues - Melancholy Man z0SFTA24M-M Oops I didn't get around to posting about the last edition of Worldvision while that spin-off was still active. I had the choice of Birmingham as a city or Azerbaijan for country, thanks to the hosting quirks of Sovarasma. I ultimately chose Birmingham after remembering that The Moody Blues are from there. 'Melancholy Man' was a brilliant discovery for me last year during the ongoing U.K. #1 Album sessions that currently take place on SyncTube each Sunday. Only a small percentage of participants join these sessions so I thought this could be a good opportunity to introduce even more people to it. My expectations were fairly low as this song is over 50 years old, but to my surprise, it finished as high as 6th place with 65 points! This means we've had back-to-back top 10 finishes in Worldvision after winning the previous edition. Thanks to all who showed some love towards the gorgeously intense 'Melancholy Man' BJSC 150 Results Oscillian - Ulysses 31 We just about survived the Oslol hosted contest that rounded off 2022. Our synthwave stomper 'Ulysses 31' finished in a very respectable 12th place with a satisfying 200 points. Thank you for our third best result of the year! Jadakissnia's 2022 streak was as follows: DNQ-13-19-8-DNQ-5-20-29-36-12 so a mixed but ultimately enjoyable year.
February 17, 20232 yr Author BJSC 152 Joanie - Kerosene PMRQ49pw9Lc We are so excited to introduce a brilliant new talent to the contest! Joanie, from Johannesburg and now residing in London, currently has a few hundred YouTube subscribers and just two uploads to her channel. The second of these, 'Kerosene', really grabbed my attention with its dark synth-pop magic. She has Jessica Winter (of 'Choreograph' fame, sent by FSR Rontvia to the contest) on board for production duties which enhances her drama-filled moody vibe further. I read an interview with her and the influences she listed were just... magnificent *.* this is what she had to say: "I’m inspired by Giorgio Moroder, Donna Summer, John Maus, Throbbing Gristle, The Fall, Madonna, Cher and contemporary artists such as Eartheater, FKA Twigs, Sega Bodega". We hope the people of semi 2 will enjoy this more pop, albeit still dark, entry from us. 'Kerosene' can be found in slot 34. BJSC 151 Results Rosegarden Funeral Party - Gates of Heaven 11th place | 197 points We started off the year in style by achieving a unique position! 'Gates of Heaven' had spent most of the night within the top 10 but in the end slipped out into a still impressive 11th place. Thank you to the following countries for pointing us: 18 - Séyetana + Zanmatony 15 - Eastovka + République D’Askorza 12 - Bronzil, Kingdom of Horanius, Summericia + Suedeonia 11 - East Rukahavian + Lotunia 10 - Aesthetica, Cumulonimbia + Persephonia 9 - Elëdan 5 - Rolloland 4 - Fljótavík, Pestolia + Terra Avium 3 - Utopia 1 - Flynnonda + Trifoski  BJSC Movies II Fiona Apple - Across The Universe CmlnO1EwCT4 It may have been a bit too cheeky to attempt The Beatles for this... so we sent the next best thing! Fiona Apple's cover of 'Across The Universe' is taken from Pleasantville and came back into my life a few months ago, when an HD version was randomly uploaded to her channel. So it felt like a sign! We finished within the top 20 of the first Movies spin-off, with Samantha Ronson's 'Built This Way', let's see what this beautiful rendition can do next.
March 24, 20232 yr Author BJSC 153 Radost Moja - Pej Solntse HEnkoh9-JHA We may not have set the previous final alight but it's like water off a duck's back as we fly ahead to the next edition in Terra Avium. In recent times witch house has felt very thin on the ground so we've officially decided to bring it back to the contest. Jadakissnia have gone in hard with an extremely noisy, in-your-face example of the sub-genre with visuals inspired by The Ring to boot. This non-English language entry is courtesy of Russian artist Radost Moja. YouTube comments tell me that they have since used the artist name Navji Cary too. 'Pej Solntse' appears to date back to 2014. Unfortunately this 80th Jadakissnian entry is not available on streaming services, so let's hope it is re-added one day. With 'ISON' eventually making its way on there our previous missing piece is 'hazy iii' by Yoshitaka Hirota, unleashed to the contest a good few years ago. Our entry can be found in slot #9 of semi 2. We're a little nervous as it could definitely be labelled a pop-heavy semi, but let's hope we can make it. BJSC 152 Results Joanie - Kerosene 25th | 178 points We were hoping for top 20 so this was a little disappointing... but can never truly grumble about being part of a final line-up, really. Thank you to the following voters: 18 - Florina + Pupok 15 - Abeltesfayeton 13 - Aelandor + Bronzil 12 - East Rukahavian + FARC 9 - Lookylion + Tartford 8 - Buzzjack Mountain 7 - Neliönoir + Sombrero 6 - Bøtanikkä 5 - Freedonia + Sergeistan 4 - Hendinia 3 - Lotunia, Wholune + Yobnedorcia 2 - Persephonia, Quintessa + Sovarasma 1 - The Actual Republic of Bellamia + FSR Rontvia

March 27, 20232 yr One thing I'll say about this song (at least from that YT clip) is how impressive the sound quality is  I've got it on my headphone's lowest volume setting and it still blares. Luckily I like what I hear!

August 27, 20231 yr Author Fell behind again... BJSC 156 Results Waterbaby - Strawberry Jam gDer3auuBvA 9th | 248 points Thank you to the stunning nations of BJSC for providing us with our landmark 25th top 10 hit to date! It had felt like a while since our last, a whole year ago with Paola & Chiara, so we're glad that our country hasn't entirely lost the magic touch yet. The ethereal 'Strawberry Jam' from London-based project Waterbaby attracted enough love to place 9th. This is the third time we've achieved this position following our very second entry 'Time' by ONUKA' plus 'Arcade Summer' by FM-84 a year later. We also managed an impressive 2nd place in the semi final (with 105 points), what a result. Thank you to the following nations for the love: 18 - Cumulonimbia, Neliönoir, Quintessa + Terra Avium 15 - Summericia 11 - Abeltesfayeton + Bronzil 10 - Scotland 2 9 - Rolloland 6 - Bøtanikkä + Pestolia 5 - D’yermak’er + Persephonia 4 - East Rukahavian + Séyetana 3 - Hushkanukia 2 - Tartford 1 - Ingermanlandia BJSC 157 NNHMN - NRL cYW1gFkxaDQ Hot off the press, our brand new entry to the contest has just qualified! NNHMN are a dark electronic music duo from Germany who slot into our typical "Halloween all year round" side just perfectly. We're pleased that people enjoyed those darkwave beats and spooky muffled vocals. This has secured us a 12th qualifier in a row, our second best run ever. Please support us in slot #15 of the final! BJSC Foreign Language III Vacíos Cuerpos - Hoy Solo Quiero Odiar l6E9ga-B1H4 Did anyone say... Spanish Joy Division? Yes, somebody in the YouTube comments of the above embed. We may have spread darkness into the spin-off as well with this post-punk slow burner. 🖤 ~~~ Lastly... we have not one but TWO representatives in the latest TBO final :o the aforementioned Paola & Chiara, our best result of last year (they placed 5th originally), are one of the two with their summer scorcher 'Vamos a Bailar (esta vida nueva)' while the other is more of a cult favourite - the Frou Frou sampling 'Wedbecutetoget-her' by o0o which originally finished 19th :o amazing, thanks all who have carried these two songs this far, we can't wait for the results.

January 20, 20241 yr Author BJSC 161 Seycara Orchestral - If You Were Mine dh3gJSk2Zf0 Jadakissnia are briefly exiting the darkness and instead seeking serenity right now as we enter a brand new year. I have always appreciated classical music (I think my gateway was discovering 'Moonlight Sonata' via the Game Boy Advance game Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak as a kid, where a hamster called Bijou played it on a piano... my young, impressionable ears thought it was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever heard and they still do) and recently have been gravitating towards it more than ever, with many cold nights over Christmas break spent cosying up with a book and Classic FM favourites. Yes I really am 26. 'If You Were Mine' is more of a neo-classical venture that I happened to stumble upon in a playlist. I was intrigued by the soppy title and animated artwork. Well, this was a very worthwhile click, as I quickly fell in love with this 6 minute long combination of piano and strings; this sound tugged on my heart immensely. Seycara Orchestral is a project that was founded by composer Yuang Chen, who aims to create a Studio Ghibli feel through his music, which is such a beautiful soundscape to aim for. He works alongside producer Takumi Nishimura and pianist Felix Wong to create their magic. It must be a good 5 years since we've sent something in the realm of this... perhaps 'Sinking' by Somnium? Well, it feels so right for my nation at the moment even if a bit unexpected for others. We hope people enjoy the absolute whiplash of this followed by Scotland 2 in semi final 1. Here's hoping to extend our longest ever Q streak!
