I kind of saw this type of sound coming for Rihanna since Talk That Talk, she's really gotten this huge ego lately and Kanye and his label have rubbed off on her entirely the wrong way

She was never loved for how artsy and talented she was. It was more of a star quality, presence, trend setting thing she had going on. I don't know why they're pursuing this faux artsy credibility only after her eighth album and I really can't see this era being as much of a success in the long run as it now is by obligation

I will even listen to Music of the Sun filler over this bullshit

I hated that performance and it's really made me dislike the song. It's such a false 'identity' that's portrayed, from the titular bitch to that godawful dance routine that they had going on (for one, Rihanna has never done dance routines; for two, it was the most cringeworthy routine I've ever seen and that's including the S Club 7 Children in Need performance). I'm going off her more and more recently, and I actually really enjoy a lot of the Unapologetic tracks. It says quite something when the soundtrack song "Towards the Sun" is my favourite Rihanna song since 2012.

You're all taking her way too seriously. Just because she takes herself too seriously does not mean the world should. Rihanna makes fun pop music and that is all there is to it.

I liked the performance. I don't care about her image or what she's trying to be, it is easy to see through it.

Basically her and Kanye doing the same strategy. FourFiveSeconds followed by All Day / BBHMM and the whole 'album could drop at any second hypehype etc.' YAWN.
OMG THIS IS SUBLIME - that performance was breathtaking - never been so excited for a Rihanna album!
The hype around her is huge, so the success of this era is not something to worry about.
In that performance she looks so much like Lil' Kim from the 90s (especially as she was in the 'Crush on You' video). I hope it's a homage (probably not )

Love that performance so so much, makes me love the song even more.

This tour with Kanye is going to be one of the best tours of ALL TIME.

I don't get why people are so against her trying something new. It's her 8th album, she needs to keep changing it up. Her last two albums as whole's were too fillery. She needed to do something new and I'm loving how fresh it all is and I am loving the risks she's taking, it's paying off for her. I don't see how she has an "ego" just for doing something different than her usual style, just watch some interviews she did recently for the 'Home' promo tour.

Isn't that what this song is sort of about anyway? I think the performance was brilliant and suited the song well. Especially the minimalistic dance routine! She was a star throughout that performance and nothing's changed from now to the last time we saw her perform!

Slay me Rihanna. <3

I don't see why people are so against her having an ego anyway..I think it's pretty justified when you consider how successful she is! Biggest pop star in the world for the last six/seven years?
She's had ego for ages! Plus the song especially is one that requires ego in the performance, if it was something like California King Bed then maybe I'd see differently! Unapologetic had stronger first two singles but I get the feeling the album will be less filler than that! It's something different that actually makes for an interesting stage show!

Absolutely adore this song and the performance sold it to me even more! Like Patrick said, with this song the attitude was definately needed. It added to the performance.

Here's praying she's releasing the video soon to get that 13th US #1.

Sadly I can't see her adding it to Spotify, as Jay0-Z is opening that Tidal or whatever it is called streaming service soon and lots of artists are involved, including Rih so I think Rih is going to be available exclusively on Tidal

I happened to hear 'Don't Stop the Music' on the radio today and couldn't help but wonder 'what on earth has happened to her since'

This faux ratchet folk type approach she has going on lately comes off as so forced and Kanye lite, but the GP are gullable to whatever she puts out so coins and kudos to her I guess

This!!!

But DSTM is commercial pap SHET!!

She's gonna go down now but could see that from Where Have You Been and Disturbia drivel. Not the next Madonna.

What a dreadful photo. She's doing a Gaga and going off the rails (music wise) IMO.

This.

Where can you hear this btw? Canet find it anywhereeee.

NEED a video for this! Love it so so much now, far more than I ever liked FourFiveSeconds.

The production, her voice..everything is perfect.

The performance really brought my love for it to whole new levels.

Not really surprising though. Pour It Up was hardly a worldwide smash.
Her urban tracks are always the best though!
