October 12, 20222 yr World Supersport 300 rider Victor Steeman dies at the age of 22. He suffered polytrauma and head injuries after getting involved in a multi-rider crash in Race 1 Portimao on Saturday. Steeman finished 2nd in the championship with 180 points, 79 points behind Álvaro Díaz. A statement released by Steeman's family: "Something you have always been afraid of as a parent of a motorcycle racer has now happened. Our Victor could not win this last race. Despite the unbearable loss and grief, we are extremely proud to share with you that our hero, through his passing, was able to save five other people by donating his organs. We would like to thank everyone for the way you have lived with us over the past few days. We will miss our Victor enormously."

Weir, capped 61 times between 1990 and 2000, went on to raise millions through his My Name'5 Doddie foundation following his diagnosis in 2016. The lock was given an OBE in 2019 for services to rugby, to MND research and to the Borders community.

December 4, 20222 yr Author Former Formula 1 driver Patrick Tambay has died aged 73. The Frenchman, whose teams included McLaren, Ferrari and Renault, won two grands prix in a career of 114 race starts stretching from 1977 to 1986. Tambay, who had been suffering from Parkinson's Disease, was most famous for his association with Ferrari. He was a leading member of a generation of top French F1 drivers that included the likes of Alain Prost, Rene Arnoux, Didier Pironi and Jacques Laffite. Tambay was most famous for his emotional season and a half with Ferrari in 1982 and 1983, and the way his career was intertwined with his friend, the legendary Gilles Villeneuve.
December 16, 20222 yr Author Former Yugoslavia, Lazio and Inter Milan footballer and ex-AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has died at the age of 53 following a fight with leukaemia. Mihajlovic has succumbed to his illness following a struggle of over three years having still been in the dug-out at Italian club Bologna just three months ago.

December 23, 20222 yr Author Super Bowl winner Ronnie Hillman has died of cancer at the age of 31. After being drafted in 2012, running back Hillman was the Denver Broncos' leading rusher during the 2015 season in which they were crowned Super Bowl 50 champions. He was diagnosed with a rare kidney cancer - renal medullary carcinoma - in August, but passed away on Wednesday.
