Did your fave come out on top? We’d never had a dream come true until S Club 7 announced they were reforming for a special comeback tour. Bring It All Back 2015 kicked off in Birmingham this week and the super seven are looking and sounding as fresh as ever – it’s seemed that it’s us who’ve aged join their behalf. While we welcome back Jo, Jon, Bradley, Rachel, Hannah, Tina and prodigal son Paul, we take a look back at the S Club’s top selling singles and delve into their archive for some top pop facts. 1: Don’t Stop Movin’ “And just go with the magic baby, I can see it there in your eyes.” The band’s biggest seller is the mighty Don’t Stop Movin’, of course – a song so amazing it was Number 1 TWICE! Even diehard S Club haters loved this one, and if you need proof, just check out its sales. Shifting 178,000 copies in first week on sale, the track knocked Destiny’s Child’s Survivor off Number 1. We’d love to know how Bey feels about that one. Geri Halliwell’s It’s Raining Men replaced Don’t Stop Movin’ at the top, but S Club weren’t beaten yet – they sent Geri packing by returning to the Number 1 spot a mere two weeks later. DJ Pied Piper’s Do You Really Like It eventually deposed Don’t Stop Movin’ once again. All these years later, we are still obsessed with that dance move when they song "DJ's got us going around". ChartFact: Don’t Stop Movin’ was the band’s longest run in the Top 10: nine consecutive weeks. Sales: 801,000 2: Bring It All Back The band’s very first hit went straight in at Number 1 on 13 June 1999, selling a whopping 190,000 copies in its first week on sale – the highest of any of their singles. Bring It All Back owed its success to Miami 7 – the fictional series which tracked S Club’s attempt to make it big Stateside. Altogether now: “United we stand, divided we fall”. ChartFact: Bring It All Back stopped Madonna’s Beautiful Stranger getting to Number 1, beating her by 55,000 copies! Sales: 675,000 3: Never Had A Dream Come True S Club’s most successful ballad was their second Number 1. And guess what? Like Don’t Stop Movin’ it knocked Destiny’s Child off the top spot – this time with Independent Women. Never Had A Dream Come True was eventually toppled by Eminem Lose It. Never Had A Dream Come True was chosen as the official single for BBC charity Children In Need in 2000 and was the ninth biggest selling song of that year ChartFact: Never Had A Dream Come True was the band’s only hit in the US and had the longest run in the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100 of any of their singles. Sales: 655,000 4: Reach You’d be forgiven for misremembering that this catchy track – arguably S Club’s signature singalong song – was actually a Number 1. But it was in fact held off the top spot and kept at Number 2 for three weeks by Sonique's It Feels So Good. The video for Reach was an instant classic, with the band riding aboard a truck that looks like a health and safety nightmare, handing out pieces of positivity candy to onlookers and, of course, laying some serious dance routine on them. It’s what they do. And if you’re one of those people who always thought this song was called Reach For The Stars, you might need to brush up on your S Club fandom. It’s just Reach, guys. One word, like Madonna, or Cher. Sales: 588,000 5: Have You Ever Fast forward to the end of 2001, where we see the band score what was to be their last Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. Well, so far anyway – you never know… Once again, the band were chosen to be the official song for charity Children In Need, spending a week at the top. It was a last-minute decision – the band’s next single was meant to be You, which, as any true S Club fan will tell you, is their best video. This means that while it wasn't their last single with him, Have You Ever is the final video Paul shot before he broke all our hearts and decided he didn’t want to be at the S Club party any longer. Oh Paul. ChartFact: Have You Ever toppled Blue’s If You Come Back from Number 1. It was given its own marching orders by Daniel Bedingfield’s debut Gotta Get Thru This, which would go on to spend three non-consecutive weeks at the top. May 9, 201510 yr Never Had A Dream Come True was eventually toppled by Eminem Lose It. It was Stan that knocked NHADCT off #1, not Lose It (which isn't even the title of an Eminem hit!).
May 11, 201510 yr Not surprised at all by that top 10. I'd imagine with streaming and sales combined over the next 5, maybe 10 years, 'Don't Stop Movin' could even become a future million seller? It's a long shot but if Atomic Kitten can achieve a million selling single over a decade...
May 11, 201510 yr ^ Whole Again was on 935,000 by the end of 2001 though! So it was really close already. Don't Stop Movin' is too far away to do it I think. It's sold 97,000 in the last 13 years. "You" was only one their great single. I dare say had 'Reach' come out in any other week that year it would have done it, I remember around its release they were on everywhere and in everything on the BBC promoting it, and of course 'L.A 7' was airing at the time as well, and was being re-run on BBC One on Saturday lunchtimes so people who missed it in its usual 5pm transmission two days previously could see it which of course was gaining them a much wider audience. I did quite like the Sonique record that beat it at the time but with the passing of 15 years' distance it's 'Reach' that's remained the more timeless on the whole - for me, anyway. Even my nephew who's 2 when it came on one of the music channels recently was going mental for it.

May 12, 201510 yr 1st Week Sales (In release order) 190,000 - Bring It All Back (debut at #1) 84,000 - S Club Party (debut at #2) 92,000 - Two In A Million / You're My Number One (debut at #5) [later climbed to #2 in third week on sales of 30,000] 123,500 - Reach (debut at #2) 39,500 - Natural (debut at #3) 144,000 - Never Had A Dream Come True (debut at #1) 178,983 - Don't Stop Movin' (debut at #1) 143,324 - Have You Ever (debut at #1) 46,500 - You (debut at #2) 26,500 - Alive (debut at #5) 54,000 - Say Goodbye / Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You (debut at #2) Natural deserved more. :( Modjo was #1 with 78k and Kylie 'On A Night Like This' #2 with 51k. Pretty low weekly sales for 2000! Interesting that their two Children In Need singles opened with almost the same number of sales! Apparently 'Say Goodbye' was initially midweek #1, but R. Kelly 'Ignition (Remix)' ended up taking it with over 60,000 copies. Also 'S Club Party' was #3 in the midweeks but ended up overtaking Shania Twain's 'Man I Feel Like A Woman' by a margin of 4,000 copies. (Sources: Gezza/Music Week)

I remember a couple of months after 'S Club Party' came out and Paul said in Top of the Pops magazine they were gutted to miss out to Eiffel 65. Mind I don't think anyone had seen that record ('Blue') coming, I remember it charting on import a couple of weeks before - and thinking no more of it - and then it just exploded back out of nowhere. Still, if memory serves me correctly they remixed 'Reach' for them, possibly as a peace offering! It was such a shame that 'Reach' couldn't manage at least 1 week at #1!
