It'll be a stamina competition between Thinking Out Loud, Take Me to Church and maybe Chandelier....

What is the current record for consecutive Top 40 weeks?

I think Hozier has a decent chance of challenging it given he had so many weeks in the chart before it became a mega seller.

There's a weekly update in my commentary :D

Streaming must die

Indeed. Although there was an interesting discussion on Twitter I was involved with with a PR member from Polydor the other day which could make streaming's addition to the chart a lot more tolerable. Basically, if the Hype Machine, the aggregator of music blogs, is able to pick up Spotify streams, it means that acts of a more alternative bent will be able to pick up more streams, and therefore be likely to fight for a top 40 place. It would benefit the sort of acts who do incredibly well on blogs, but don't necessarily transfer this over to the singles chart i.e Chvrches and Two Door Cinema Club for example, and would mean there'd be a lot more variety in the chart. Plus, for the acts involved it would allow them to monetize all the blog lovin' they're getting. Plus it means owners of blogs will be able to have their own egos stroked more vigorously.

And Public Service Broadcasting get a number one :cheer:

Happy with Take That climbing into the top 30. Hozier finally has a new peak with the album, i was starting to think it would never happen.

I'm convinced that Public Service Broadcasting are going to get a top 40 single at some point in the future. I have a feeling that Radio 1 are going to pick up on one of their songs in a big way (possibly one that has a 'novelty' factor or one than ties in with a major milestone), but until that day, I guess the band will just have to settle for two massive selling independent albums, one of the biggest selling vinyl albums of 2015, and selling out the massive Brixton Academy venue.

All of those achievements are FAR more important than a Top 40 single IMO.

I did think that “Signal 30” might have made the Top 100 when it was used at the end of the BBC's coverage of the 2013 F1 season, but alas. : (

The Race For Space is continuing to sell, so they're doing OK.

Florence getting a bona fide hit with Ship to Wreck, awesome.. brilliant song!

I think that very much depends on your definition of 'hit'... (it is a good song tho)

The tour is paying dividends for Take That on the album chart, i am expecting it to climb further as the tour progresses.
Do we have official sales+streams numbers? I wanna see if 'Trouble's gone Silver yet
Walk the Moon & Lost Frequencies reaching new peaks on streams and Natalie La Rose repeaking officially!
Really!? How strange!!

It's a reference to Union J, who were the first act to be denied an official #1 by streaming (in December 2014) and were subsequently dropped.

It hasn't however happened to Wiz Khalifa, nor Nick Jonas.
