The Will album won't sell more than 100k in total. It will be similar to the recent Madonna and Kylie albums - a high debut but it will plummet with no hit single to sustain it.

I would be STUNNED if he didn't, to date his lowest selling album sold 400,000. I think we just need the right single to hit...the 'All Time Love', 'Who Am I', 'Jealousy' effect will curtail him into at least the 200k mark in my opinion. Unlike Kylie and Madonna, Will is still very relevant today and unlike their labels i doubt they will give up on the albums after two singles also.

His last album was released in 2011 though, which was before album sales took a big tumble. I can't see him passing 40 - 70k personally. I think it'll still be successful by today's standards though. Only HUGE names (or artists with left, right and center radio support) seem to be able to go platinum now, and Will is not one of those names.

I agree. I'm surprised he's at the top too.

40-70k? Total?

No way!

He'll do that in 2 weeks.

Album sales are low don't forget, as hinted by Mint Royale, it probably take him 4 to 6 weeks to reach 70k

Darn, had expected both Will Young and The Vaccines to enter with decent pre-order sales, hopefully they'll pick up as the week progresses; I'm still hoping on The Vaccines claiming another #1.

Great to see Jason Derulo storming ahead though and the likes of Martin Garrix/Usher and Charles Hamilton/Rita Ora exceeding my expectations; "New York Raining" deserves so much better though!

He has not got a chance at those sales without a hell of alot more airplay and tv promo.

We'll see, but I find that very unlikely. I can't see him selling more than 20k this week and more than 10k next week

Even as a huge fan I have to agree. Then again he's outlasted most of the mainstream pop artists of his time and I doubt many of the current crop would still have a sniff at a number 1 album if they were to take a four year break so it isn't all bad.

If you look at the previous sales topics some of the #1 albums struggle to sell past 20k plus in their first week, I'm afraid Will Young falls in this bracket, and sales will decrease on week 2. And bearing in mind Will Young is on his 7th album.

I think 40k is achievable not the other figure within about 2 and a half week sales, i feel the same 20k this week, 10k week after.

Didn't realise how low the sales of the album market had gotten! Jeez, Brandon only sold 30k last week? Flooping heck. I think he can achieve 200k sold by this time next year.

Maybe he can reissue it at christmas with a ballad or something? I always say he should release later in the year to take advantage of the XMas sales market that Olly Murs has taken advantage of. Ella has been doing so well in the charts the last few months staying top 10 ish for weeks on end, i am stunned that she is still at the 300k ish mark.

Can't wait for some sales to come in..checking here constantly!

I never realised how low albums were selling.

Blame the streaming market :o

Anyone with a decent overall album sales figure managed to accumulate it during XMas...

I can only imagine Electro Velvet must be wondering why they even bothered right now.

Well they had an experience that most don't have in their lifetime.

True. It was worth a go to be honest. It was quirky and different in a sea of ballads and clubby dance numbers. No one could beat Hero though, it stood out so much but they could have done a lot better..
Credit to Will Young still in with a chance of another number 1 album, his success has remained consistent with each release.

I've never forgiven him for depriving Shakira of a #1, though... ;)

Will is on 9k according to Popjustice.

That's better than I expected! I was thinking he'd be on more like 7k. Looking at between 18 - 24k for Sunday then?

If album sales are low, that could be correct, than again we could have missing data from somewhere.

I don't have any top 5 sales information so far, so I can't confirm.

Pleasing to see Will at number 1, even if it is on lower sales than he usually opens on. Then again, time of the year, streaming factored in etc etc. This year is basically going to be to albums what 2005 was to singles in terms of sales. And also I've only really seen him on The One Show and Paul O'Grady in the last week. Surprised even Alan Carr or Graham Norton haven't asked him on - correct me if I'm wrong? Still, as I said, good to see him leading already, I shall be getting the album tomorrow :)
