Manchester United top of the table (until 5:00 PM) after beating Tottenham 1-0. Let's hope for all our sakes that after 38 games they will be top as well.

Louis Van Gaal kept the signing of Kyle Walker quiet! :kink: :P

The Spurs game just showed why I think United will not put up a title challenge, they're really going to struggle to score the goals required.

Thought Man Utd were solid defensively, and Spurs were unlucky. They played really well, but lacked quality and decent options off the bench. Bentaleb was so poor giving away posession so easily for the Man United goal.

Bit too early to assess after one game, we've historically always had poor starts even in title winning seasons so to get a win against a top 5 team is very pleasing. Lucky I agree but look how many games Chelsea won in that same fashion last season.

Agree, but Chelsea had good firepower (and a lot of luck as well). Just really think you'll struggle to score the goals. I know it's hard to tell, but unless you buy another striker I'd be shocked if you put up a title challenge.

Big slip up for Chelsea today, puts them under pressure for their match at the Etihad next weekend.

Top class from Swansea!

Was a great game. Chelsea were slow, and sluggish. Swansea were excellent.

Some things never change. Mourinho is still a massive tool. Chelsea conceded a blatant penalty. leading to a clear red card, and Mourinho refused to comment. Clearly, he wishes to play according to the Wenger rules. If the opposing player is still alive, it cannot be a foul.

Massive sour grapes. It didn't show it on MOTD either, but John Terry was having a go at the linesman as he was convinced Gomis was offside.. how wrong!

Indeed. The officials had three decisions to make in that incident (offside, penalty, red card) and got all three right.

Terry was vigorously discussing with a linesman that it was NOT a foul of any sort on Gomis, and due to that excited rant at the linesman, was handed a yellow card of his own....the on-pitch officials got it right, and were backed up by the organization that oversees the on-pitch officials....Chelsea have no defense here...Courtois gets to sit home next fixture, and looks like some things with Chelsea won't change regarding player/manager tooldom...Diego Costa was crying for a foul every time he was cleanly challenged....I was like, wtf...

[/rant]

Yeh he challenge in the box on Costa was a great tackle IMO. Chelsea will be top 2 but maybe not top this yr IMO, United will be there as well. You can't comment after one game but they have 3 pts more than last seasons first game and they didn't play well.

Shocker here....

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham before the half.....

and maybe not so shocking

Newcastle 1-1 Southampton just before half time...

Oops Cech.

Can tell how badly Arsenal miss Sanchez. Saying that it's the first game of the season. Expect they'll go on and buy a couple of players now, same as Chelsea.

They lost their opening game two years ago and topped the table until January. And they won't be playing teams of that standard every week :D

Today, we performed like Slaven's old Croatia teams - all cool and calculated with spot on tactics :cheer:

Amazing result, feels so anti-Allardyce! Playing 16 yr old Oxford was a masterstroke and Payet looks a steal.

It seems like Leicester are a club of racists.

It's quite scary to think how young Reece Oxford is. He was born DURING Manchester United's treble winning season of 1998-99 :o

Will be interesting to see how the season plays out, and yes, I agree, it's a bit too early to tell what club will end up where in the table one game in thus far...
