And in the Torygraph of all places. I personally still want the clown in for now...
Sadly, the Republicans are strongly predicted to win next year's midterms and Trump the next US General elections no doubt helped by cheating, voter supression laws and yes the current President failing to impress.

One of the problems that Johnson has is that he HASN'T gone full on Trumpian and he has pissed off the right with his covid regulations (the one he brought in yesterday went down dreadfully with several of his MPs), being seen to be pro green and higher public spending - (both of those can be refuted but the perception is what is matters). So he is now hated both by the left and most centrists and now the hard right. Not much room for him to wriggle.

I don't follow US Politics too closely, but the Republicans are not all Full-Trumpism though are they? Some clearly are, but a bit like our Conservative Party, not everyone is a complete loony. Johnson has gone full Trump and his team are clearly inspired by him with some of the media strategy they implore. Johnson is only bringing in the covid regulations because his hand is somewhat tied, I'm sure if he had the choice he wouldn't. The larger problem the Party have is, winning such a hugh majority in the Northern Heartlands leads them at odds with traditional conservative traditions.

In the US the direction for the Republican Party is full on facist. The most obvious example is when one of the congressman Paul Gosar posted cartoon videos of him actually killing a latin Democrat congresswoman, virtually no Republicans voted to punish him. Others such as Madison Cawthorne, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert regularly use Islamophobic and violent rhetoric. Moderate ( in terms of behaviour rather than politics) Republicans like Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney regularly get death threats. The COVID rules are virtually non existent in Republican states leading to many deaths. Oh and they are starting to ban abortion. Really frightening what’s happening over there…like 2 separate countries now.

A special song is coming out next Friday and it’s timing is perfect;

The Kunts - Boris Johnson Is Still A F***ing C*nt

Yup Roo!

America is hugely divided still along Trumpian lines with a lot of right wing reps posing for Xmas photos with the family brandishing machine guns!

The Republicans are to some degree worse than the Tories. They have mainstream political lines, particularly on social issues, that the Tories have given up on, like homophobia, belligerent racism, and far-right extremist violence on those who disagree. They've doubled down on the Trumpian bullet even now and they're almost to a man still doing Stop The Steal, Let's Go Brandon, the anti-democratic coup attempt, and there's perhaps one or two in that whole party who aren't complicit (Liz Cheney and Romney are the only ones springing to mind and it's a dark day when it's the daughter and close ideologue of Dick Cheney who I'd rate as the most sane Republican). And yet it seems to be working for Americans, the extremes are pulling in and corrupting their voterbase.

Now there are a few like that in our government, but no, a mainstream Republican is far more likely to be batshit than a mainstream Tory. The common factor is that a Tory is perhaps less dangerous, but very willing to lie and abuse the post-truth world that the 2019 victory sent us into. Hopefully it's now catching up with them, because the Tory base may be bad, but they aren't gun-toting hateful lunatics.

This last bit is very true though. Tory Home Counties voters HATE the whole big government thing this Tory admin have been doing to solidify their hold in the North, which is going to lead them to Reform, or if they're a bit more pragmatic, Starmer's Labour ('if this big government thing is the only game in town, at least I'm going to vote for the one that gives me more free stuff and less of my taxes to their mates'). Or the Lib Dems, that could work too. Which hopefully will lose them a bunch of southern seats to either Lib Dems or Labour.

Johnson's previous ability to work his way to all corners of the political spectrum could now work against him, once the game's up, there may be no one left who's happy with him. Fingers crossed at least.

No.10 has cancelled it's planned Christmas party this year. Has nothing whatsoever to do with the accusations of a party last year says a No.10 spokesman.

Well they have cancelled their official one but who knows whether they will have an unofficial one like last year. My work place are having a Christmas gathering next week in a pub despite working from home guidance being issued which contradicts this. I’m the only person not attending for obvious reasons. I’m triple jabbed but I don’t want to risk getting infected before Christmas and having to spend Christmas on my own without my other half. However, there is at least one person going who is not jabbed at all and pregnant. When I’ve spoken to her about it, she tried to justify it by saying ‘well Boris had a party, so can we’. It concerns me about the impact the governments behaviour is going to have on any future compliance with guidance / restrictions.

This is why it's so toxic to everybody.

For those who disagree with the restrictions, the part is confirmation of what they already thought in that it's all a load of old bollocks and was never about Covid but just about control, after all the government weren't abiding by the rules - they even had a party in the middle of a full lockdown in their area!!

For those who have actually seen the impact of Covid first-hand, or believe the restrictions are necessary it's essentially showing that the government weren't prepared to walk the walk as well as talk the talk on what they were doing, and seem to have been introducing the restrictions they have more out of optics and bowing to public pressure than genuinely believe in them.

Whichever side of the argument you're on, the government can be painted to have betrayed you. I honestly wouldn't be suprised if they poll an incredibly low figure in North Shropshire.

Which unlucky Tory is doing the media rounds tomorrow morning?

The Mirror has a story with Johnson hosting a quiz now with his team

Add another thing to the list:

Prime Minister Boris Johnson took part in a Christmas quiz in No 10 last year, Downing Street has confirmed.

The Sunday Mirror published a photo of the PM at the event, which it said took place on the 15 December - when indoor household mixing was banned in London.

I just don't see how he doesn't get removed or resigns as PM with the way things are going.

It's hard to see Johnson stumbling on much further past this! If the Tories lose the North Shropshire by-election, that must surely be the final nail in the coffin.

Don't think he will resign and the process to remove him is long and I still don't think it would have enough support yet. He's just going to ride this story out as he knows the focus will turn to covid again shortly. But the good news is, I think the lasting damage has been done.

Boris seems to think the BBC exists to serve him rather than the public...

Even though it was ITV News that got hold of the Allegra Stratton video, not the BBC. Once that happened, the BBC could hardly be expected just to ignore the story.

It's great to see, I had previously thought this would just eventually blow over like the Cummings fiasco, I just wish the election wasn't so long away that they'll have time to create the illusion they've 'changed' when he inevitably is forced out. Definitely can't see him lasting beyond Q1 2022 at this stage.
