Promotion isn't it? He's a fully fledged Cabinet member now from what I have read. This Cabinet is made up of pure ideology rather than experience.

No, it's the other way round. Leader of the House is a Cabinet position but his new role isn't. He will still attend Cabinet but without the salary. I suspect he'll muddle through on the reduced income somehow.

More to the point, he joins Gove in having a job title which includes a political slogan. This really shouldn't be allowed.

Yes all a bit North Korean. Mind you he's such a tosser who is unpopular apart from the brainswashed about Brexit, he will be doing the cause futher damage. Guess it's better he's away from the standards of the house as he's absolute poison.

Perfect job for Rees-Mogg seeing as, like his talents, brexit opportunities are nothing but a fiction of his imagination

I might have misread it but the bbc to my memory was framing it the same way Roo was. That he would now be a cabinet minister

The Leader of the House (as he was) has always been in the Cabinet, for as long as I can remember. I don't know why the BBC are now reporting that he will now be a full member of the Cabinet.

The BBC were reporting that he attended meetings, but wasn't a full member of the Cabinet, but with his new role he is. Amd he has a £35k salary increase.

Funny the first "Brexit Opportunity" goes to Mogg's pocket. Although of course that's chicken feed compared to the millions if taxpayers he'll scam.
John Mayor is the latest to criticise the Johnson government. Good for him and this proves it’s far from over!
I think the current Tory party would be happy to see John Major criticising - the party has hugely changed since his leadership!
Major and Ruth Davison too but they're seen as "Remoaners". The line parroted by Johnson and his cronies is that they got the big calls right including "Getting Brexit Done" even though it's an absolute disaster. But slogans work with our ahem not too discenring electorate.

Brexit is far from done. It’s a complete mess. There are still loads of on going issues and red tape which are causing major headaches for business. In addition, if Johnson tries to go back on the Northern Ireland agreement then we could be left facing sanctions from the EU.

Isn't this what started to happen with the Republican Party in America though when the likes of McCain and Bush came out to distance themselves from Trump? You start to go down a certain path and then it splits the Party up. Anyone who works in business can see Brexit has been a complete disaster. Give it 5 years and there will be a strong movement to re-join again.

Agreed - the Tory party is bascially just an English Nationalist party nowadays.

Re: rejoining - people are stubborn so wouldn't think a rejoin will happen but hopefully we'd have closer alignment with the EU in a decade or so.

I don’t think we will come back to the in/out question until the 2050s imo the true effects won’t be seen until 20 years from now!

The tories and republicans yes have moved to the right partly the populism of this era came from the 2008 financial crisis which led to the Scottish ref and brexit imo. This also caused Trumpianism!

But the tories are successful because they change when needs be political Cameleons!

The fact that this is broadly true is a matter for utter despair. After all, the main cause of the financial crisis was the deregulation of the banks - promoted by the political right. No doubt the Tories will try the same trick over leaving the EU when even the most hardline Quitters are forced to admit it was a terrible idea.

So the bishop of Liverpool is the latest person to step forward to publicly criticise Johnson and his government, in relation to his slur on Sir Keir Starmer. I hope more people continue to come forward and it’s good that not just political opponents are doing this.

How depressing in a world where there are so many good people out there who could be elected and do wonderful things for the country, we have neo facists twats like this at the top of our Government. He must think he is hilarious using the word 'Woke' all the time.

So Caroline Lucas tried to ask a question in PMQs about Tory donors from Russian sources and she was literally shouted down from the government benches and that useless good for nothing speaker Lindsay Hoyle reprimands her for her Question being too long….🙄
The way they behave in there is horrendous, no wonder the general debating skills in the UK are so poor.

That’s the problem a lot of tories go to the posh unis where they have to debate in similar situations to the HOC (they are literally readying them for office) and so they know exactly what they are doing shouting them down.

The debate was quite good between Starmer and Johnson beforehand as they were trying to show a United approach against Russia but Johnson couldn’t help but spoil that when he veered into slagging Starmer on Q4 of the 6!
