Does anyone know why exactly Stoned in Love was allowed BACK IN after its initial BJSC participation and 12th place in VI tho?

I remember this one because I hosted that contest (and won the tie against it~).

gooddelta and Silas flops of the decade :') :orangutan:

I didn't actually know that it had already been in a main contest. :o

Didn't bother checking as there wasn't any particular veto framework.

I guess we can agree mods probably paid no attention to this competition given a firm Buzzjack favourite Perfect (Exceeder) was entered and not a single eyebrow was raised. I adore it to death but really bitch... And of course this Stoned in Love situation~

(but i don't know how lack of framework makes you not check if the song you want to enter was already in bjsc before but hey ho)

CONGRATS JADE! I can't believe I missed this but I'm very pleased with 11th :) (good thing I wasn't here live though because I would have died during the point droughts)

It's not my job to vet the entries, and I'm afraid my memory capacity for former UK hits that were entered in the early days of the contest is sadly lacking.

Spin offs don't operate within the framework. All that matters is that they comply with the theme. The re-entry was an oversight but given that it was entered 7 years ago it's hardly a tragedy that it appeared in a spinoff. There's a reason we're hiring a specific mod for this section so go find something else to get your panties in a twist about.

Yeah I don't think there even is a rule explicitly banning songs from the main contest appearing in a spinoff (there is one the other way round though).

'Faster Kill Pussycat' was also in the main contest, Griff being involved in yet another entry recycling scandal :')

That was because I didn't think there would actually be a problem if it had already been entered to the main contest. There was no veto, I was going with the theme and even Leww himself said he would have liked more well known songs because he envisioned it with loads of hits pitted against each other. Looking back I can see why it could have been rejected, but, as Silas mentioned, that contest was 7 years ago and the vast majority of people who were part of BJSC at that time were not involved with this contest.

Tbf, it did state in the opening post of the confirmation thread that it can't have been entered into BJSC before (it even linked to the songs of BJSC thread :kink:) but as this is a spin off I don't really care about that rule myself so it doesn't really matter tbh (as long as its a song that's not regarded as a BJSC classic or something equally as cheapcheap)

Why didn't you mention something sooner, anyway Pav? :kink:

Ooops, I'm obviously going extremely blind in my old age!

Sorry everyone (Pav especially), should have just send "The Weekend" instead.

Griff being involved in yet another entry recycling scandal :')

What have all the other times been?!

Edited by Griff

Oh yeah. But that was a different mix to be fair.
(I think)

There was also 'Damaged' which was caught JUST before the semis opened :magic:

(And oh, didn't notice the first post of the confirmation thread had that rule in it oop. Looking in the pinned central resources thread (is that ever being finished?? :kink:) though, it does say the only requirement is that entries are within the theme and makes a point of spinoffs being outside the usual framework / rules so the recycled entries arguably weren't breaking any official rule ~ It's hardly a disaster anyway especially as no one even noticed / said anything about it until after the contest ended )
