Posted July 30, 20159 yr Can only think of 2 at the moment; Madonna in the 90's and Westlife in the 00's. There are some that come close like Mariah getting 9/10 for the 90's (only missing out 1991) and the Sugababes getting the same for the 2000's (missing 2001). Britney was also a near-miss in the 2000s, 2006 being the only year of that decade she didn't score a top ten single As for this decade at present only Tinie Tempah & David Guetta have both placed at least one top ten single in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015. Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Jessie J, Olly Murs, and Pitbull have all scored at least one during 2010-2014 but have yet to score one in 2015. I think Bruno and Pitbull with both get another one this year and Katy and Olly depending on if they release new albums. Jessie J, I think, has seen the last top ten hit of her career at this point. Artists like Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Little Mix, Emeli Sande and One Direction could also be on for 9/10 as they've only missed one year thus far. Ellie missed 2011, Emeli missed out in 2014 and Calvin, Little Mix and 1D missed 2010 (I'm aware 1D haven't yet gone Top 10 in 2015, but with a new album out later this year, it's pretty much a given - although strictly speaking they were involved in the 2010 X Factor charity record that reached #1 so I guess you could make a case for that). There are, of course, examples of artists scoring top ten hits every year in non-linear decades for example Robbie getting at least one per year between 1996 and 2006 but I wouldn't really count those. Including hits with Destiny's Child, Beyonce scored at least one top ten per year between 1998 and 2011!. Again, if Katy Perry carries on her streak of top ten hits per year in 2015, she will have had at least one per year since 2008. Edited July 30, 20159 yr by James Silkstone
July 31, 20159 yr Did I just read right that you're saying Bruno Mars hasn't registered in the top 10 in 2015? Have I missed something?
July 31, 20159 yr Author Did I just read right that you're saying Bruno Mars hasn't registered in the top 10 in 2015? Have I missed something? It depends how you look at it really. Bruno has been in the top ten during 2015, but Uptown Funk entered the top ten on 20/12/2014 making it a 2014 debut, which is how I've been counting it. Technically, Olly Murs has also been in the top ten during 2015 but 'Up' first appeared in the top ten during the last week of 2014 so by my rules, it doesn't count as him registering a top ten hit in every year of this decade so far.
July 31, 20159 yr Author Does the list include featured-artist appearances - because IMO it shouldn't. Yes, it does. If an artist is featured on a single that goes top ten, it's still another top ten hit for them IMO
July 31, 20159 yr Yes, it does. If an artist is featured on a single that goes top ten, it's still another top ten hit for them IMO I'm far from convinced - some featured artist contributions are minimal, plus it's hardly a fair comparison against songs from eras when featured artist credits either went unacknowledged, or opportunities were very rare in the first place.

Featured credits are hard to differentiate, I get that, but I don't think I could say 'Love The Way You Lie' wasn't a hit for Rihanna or 'Uptown Funk' wasn't one for Bruno Mars. There are cases yes, where the contribution is minimal - one could hardly claim 'Moves Like Jagger' is a Christina Aguilera song - but I'm going on a basis here of if they were credited but in some cases if not I'll just add it to the tally anyway (a good example would be BeBe Rexkha in 'Hey Mama' who isn't credited but plays a large part in the song). Anyway, with the exception of Bruno whose only top ten in 2014 came with him as a featured artist on 'Uptown Funk' (where he's the sole vocalist), all of the artists I've listed did chart one per year as a lead artist anyway.
July 31, 20159 yr Sugababes have almost done it in 00s. The only year they haven't got a top-10 was 2001 when Run for Cover made to #13.

July 31, 20159 yr Hot Chocolate & Status Quo in the 70's Hot Chocolate had a hit every year from 1970 to 1984. Elvis Presley had a top 40 hit every year from 1956 to 1980.

August 1, 20159 yr Surely Rihanna has had a top 10 hit every year since 2005 or so? 2005 Pon De Replay 2006 SOS 2007 Umbrella 2008 Take a Bow 2009 Russian Roulette 2010 Only Girl (In the World) 2011 We Found Love 2012 Diamonds 2013 The Monster 2014 :o This was the missing year Can't Remember to Forget You only reached no11! 2015 Four Five Seconds
August 1, 20159 yr I think it's highly unlikely that One Direction will last to 2019. They're already beyond the average boyband lifespan and I wouldn't be surprised if this next album were their last. Also I think it would be good to include those who spread over decades like Beyoncé and Robbie and look at most consecutive years for acts Edited August 1, 20159 yr by mrbrightside
August 3, 20159 yr Bebe Rexha IS credited on 'Hey Mama'. She wasn't initially but she was added onto the credits for the single release. Not according to the OCC.
