Karl is *.*

Been napping though so haven't listened to the songs

Various shades of Beige and Magnolia. Good news is no novelty tosh and NO Electro Velvet mark 2!

"Miracle" has a sort of "anthemic" quality, but it's incredibly ordinary and will live up to its name sake if it appears on the lefthand side of the score board. I agree, Track 1 is the best of a rather shoddy selection.

On further consideration, I think Darliene is probably the best option for a respectable midtable among all of these. You never can fully rule out the BBC f***ing it all up though.

The Digital Spy forum poll seems to have creamed itself over Darline, 54% have voted for her so far (as of 13:09).

20 | Darline

08 | Bianca

03 | Joe & Jake

03 | Karl

02 | Dulcima

01 | Matthew James

Wow! Though I'd be quite happy with Darline, reminds me of something I'd send to BJSC if I fancied a bottom five finish in the final.

At least they've not treated the contest like a joke and put up something like Scootch or Jedward.

Its not enough to make me support the UK in Stockholm but at least I can own up to being British without having to immediately disown our entry with my next breath.

My Rankings:

8.0 | Joe & Jake - Quite catchy and doesn't get boring.

7.5 | Bianca - Really nice chorus but not sure about the reggae verses.

6.5 | Darline - Very MOR but pretty enjoyable.

6.0 | Karl - Tries to be anthemic and loses it a bit for me.

3.0 | Matthew James - Pretty bland but I can see where they were trying to go.

2.0 | Dulcima - Awful, her voice is jarring and that middle eight made me wince.

Joe & Jake just sounds like a nice enough Coldplay song from 2006, not getting the fuss with that one really. It's probably about the best idea for a result but only in a 20th sort of way.

Bianca's song is definitely my favourite, in an 8/10 sort of way. It's probably a grower too, I'd prefer if the verses weren't reggae backed though  It's the sort of thing that would just come like 14th in the semi for a small country though.

Dulcima are awful, her voice really is irritating :/

Matthew James is very dull, puts me in mind of an album track from like 2007.

Darline are my 2nd faves, but I agree with Rich they sound like a 28th or something finisher at BJSC  The song reminds me of Gabrielle Aplin covering a country track really, pretty good.

Karl William Lund's song is again nice enough, anthemic but falls a bit flat for me, it's not totally there but along with Joe & Jake would probably be about the best for Eurovision.

Thankfully there's no embarrassment here, apart from the Dulcima song being a bit shit. There's nothing that really shines or stands out either, we'll have our usual below 20th placing I'm sure.

So it sounds like 6 singer-songwriter MoR ballads? Ugh. I think I would have preferred to be embarassed.

I'll take a good listen through and see if there's anything worth salvaging.

I bet the UK public opt for Dulcima  Imagine if it has some outrageous stage show or something and wins the voters over :drama:

I think I'm team Dulcima. This is what it's come to.

Karl's is a nice second (and I think out of all of these would do the best at the contest, that is to say it has a shot at getting 16th) but it needs an extra push to make it a stronger.

The rest... flush immediately.

I hope Dulcima doesn't make it, her voice is irritating as hell. Any of songs 1, 2, 5 or 6 and I won't be embarrassed.

I realise we'd just be doing Electro Velvet levels of 'fun' again but it is the only song I want to listen to more than once.

I also don't see it, I like her voice.

Song 1 - Joe and Jake - You're Not Alone 9/10

Song 2 - Bianca - Shine A Little Light 3.5/10

Song 3 - Dulcima - When You Go 3/10

Song 4 - Matthew James - A Better Man 1/10

Song 5 - Darline - Until Tomorrow 6/10

Song 6 - Karl William Lund - Miracle 7.5/10

Something about Dulcimas's voice I didn't like, Tom's voice were much nicer to the song.

Matthew's song was just so plain boring.

I would expected a much greater song from Leona Lewis because 'Shine a Little Light' was boring for me.

Darline could fare well in the final, I imagine their performance would look nice, just sitting on two chairs and sing with each their guitars.

I quite like Joe and Jack

The other songs I don't really want to listen to again, so hopefully you will make the right decision on Friday and choose Joe and Jack.

It's ok if you choose Karl tough, he is GORGEOUS

This is a good set of songs! Not fantastic, there's no particularly big stand out, but while I'd rather we didn't send Matthew or Dulcima, I think any of the other 4 would make pretty good entries. For me, Bianca or Joe & Jake would be preferable but I've been seeing quite a lot of support for Darline. It's not my type of thing but it's a good song for what it is and I think it'll stand out more than Bianca would for example. I'll be interested to see what happens here!
Give Joe & Jack a fun performance, the song has a definitely early One Direction feel about it which is quite... British, I think. Could work well, I think! Listening again, definitely them or Darline as much as I'm not too fussed on it.

Odds are still all over the place but it seems like Darline are starting to become the favourites the bookies are settling on for now, it'd definitely be something a little different - we'll have to see if they have any of the charm that took Gianluca to the top 10 in 2013!

I suppose if every country is going all out with staging "gimmicks" this year, 2 girls singing a pretty song with their guitars could stand out!
Darline are right up my street! Lovely track
