Oh dear, flashbacks to the national finals of the mid to late 2000s :( She is sort of qualified I guess but I was hoping they'd shake things up rather than recycling panellists from the Making Your Mind Up disasters. Even Mans and Katrina would be better panellists as at least they are something different, even get Christer if they need to!

Indeed! :( Although if I were at the BBC I'd be on the phone to the icons that are Julie Frost and BJ Scott.
On Monday, the BBC is set to start revealing the names of the six acts who will compete on the UK’s national final Eurovision: You Decide, but a British tabloid is claiming to have the name of one of the six. A The Sun journalist has revealed via social media that former Bad Boys Inc frontman Matthew Pateman (aka Matthew James) is one of the British finalists.

It seems Matthew give himself away by tweeting a countdown to a date which coincided with the BBC’s Eurovision finalists reveal. Evidently the BBC weren’t happy and Matthew’s twitter account was locked. It’s now public again and the troublesome tweets have been deleted.

The singer, who now uses the stage name Matthew James, has also deleted a number of posts from his Instagram account which seem to have referred to the release of an upcoming single.

Over 20 years ago, Matthew was the lead singer of boyband Bad Boys Inc, who had a number of UK chart hits in the early 1990s.

He’s since been working on his solo career, and also performs with party band Madhen, who have even entertained royals.

It seems he’s a keen Eurovision fan, last year sending an Instagram of congratulations to Måns Zelmerlöw, featuring a photo of a shirtless Måns in a swimming pool.

There’s no word from the BBC on whether Pateman is in fact one of the chosen six, and if so, whether he was chosen by OGAE UK or directly by the BBC, but all signs are pointing his way.

In the meantime, Leigh Holmwood has tweeted more news about the UK selection – “Don’t expect any big names!” So no Adele, then.

THE BIG REVEAL

The BBC will reveal the six finalists starting this Monday on Ken Bruce’s show on BBC Radio 2, beginning at 9:30 (10:30 CET).

It was initially announced that the songs would all be revealed on the Monday, but yesterday stand-in presenter (and 1992 UK Eurovision representative) Michael Ball specifically told listeners that two songs would be released each day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

It'll be worth looking at newspaper websites at midnight from Sunday into Monday as well as I'm sure one paper will be running with a Eurovision story!

I keep thinking All Saints are going to be in the mix, I totally doubt it but new single coming out, its being premiered Tuesday, albums due out just before eurovision.. I dont think they would be involved but just little things I keep seeing and I think hmm lol..

Saw Matthews tweets about new single but didnt click. I just hope we have something decent in the mix

All Saints would be amazing but I doubt even they would do it sadly :(
I don't think All Saints would be interested unless they were the guaranteed UK act, If they were interested in entering which I highly doubt I don't think they would want to face the embarrassment of not being selected in the national final as that could massively impact their single/album launch.

Also iv seen lots of people saying why can't we get better acts, To be honest Matthew and Jess Wright is probably the best we could hope for, Entering the contest used to at least guarantee a hit single in the UK however that is far from the case now with recent entries hardly charting in their home country!

The last entry to go silver was Precious in 1999 and recently Andy, Josh, Englebert, Bonnie and Electro Velvet failed to trouble the Top 50, hardly a career launching platform.

A horrendous song with no commercial appeal is never a career launching platform no matter where you promote it.

But we have sent many songs over the years that could be classed as horrendous however they have still managed to go Top 40 at least something which hardly happens now. So even if acts failed miserably at the contest they knew they were guaranteed a hit in their home country which was slightly more incentive to enter.

Looking forward to Friday and getting drunk watching the UK make a terrible choice, live from my own home.
Pretty sure we'll be seeing Karl William Lund in the final (I have no idea who he is either :kink:), He has been posting on Instagram countdown videos with the hashtags #ComingSoon #22nd #NewSong and it's called 'Miracle'
