An under-performance for Ellie! :o

I listened to the album and I have favourites from it OMG, Hair, Lightning, Love Me Or Leave and the two singles *.*

Ellie's lead single hasn't done that great.

So, SO pleased they're #1 in the mids :wub:

I think they might get overtaken by Elvis and Beatles unless they have a really strong lead. I just went to HMV to pick up the deluxe edition. Some miserable Gwen sympathiser has put Delierium in front of all Little Mix's albums. I did the work of Jade and undid this.

^ Good write up, but I'm shocked at all the mixed receptions for Secret Love Story.

I really wish they would have found someone better than Jason Derulo for the track really.

06 Clued Up Definitely the weakest on the album. It feels like an acoustic version of what the track should be. I think it should be a lot more poppy/simillar to We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together as sounds quite simillar to that but it needs to be more poppy to be good in my view.

09 The Beginning Love their acapella again!

I just listened for a second time and it sounded a fair bit better than my first listen! A few of the songs I squirmed at initially sounded tolerable/good this time round :funky: I really like the two singles (obviously), 'Secret Love Song' both parts and 'Lightning' in particular. A fairly consistent album though and REALLY hope it manages to stay ahead of Ellie this week.

Why thank you :) I agree, I think with anyone else on the track 'Secret Love Song' wouldn't actually be that bad. It's a bit like Demi Lovato was never right for 'Up' with Olly, evident in the fact that Ella Eyre did a better version of it with him on tour!

Great review. I don't agree with your (and a few others it seems!) thoughts on 'Secret Love Song'. I think Jason fits quite nicely with the girls. Yeah the autotune is too much at one part of the song, but that just makes the girls shine even more in their parts for me!

Secret Love Song Pt 2 is utterly stunning. :wub: :snif:

The album is such a disappointing listen for me, maybe even more so after the great album that was 'Salute' :( It's such a shame, whereas sometimes, on their previous albums, I felt like the lyrics, production or vocals were at fault and some of the potentially good songs were let down by these, well on this one we pretty much have a bunch of well written, produced and sung shitty songs. I don't know what's worse between that and the other option. :(

 

THAT BEING SAID. 'Secret Love Song' is absolutely gorgeous and surely that MUST be the next single? :heart: They sound so good on it. I do think Jason Derulo is a bit of stretch in terms of collaboration, at least when it comes to the girls, that being said, he works just fine on the song and I'm sure they can make something out of his name if/when they release it.

A.D.I.D.A.S though

Strong album, better than DNA but nothing on Salute. Although the singles have been completely on point this era so far.

 

My favourites are Secret Love Song, OMG and Lightning on first listen. Some of the slower ones are a bit repetitive/annoying but I think this album will be a grower.

'I Love You' is really creeping up my affections! Such a beautiful little number <3
