Took a long time to get to #1 in the end, I really expected Sigala to take off in a big way... 71-1 in OCC terms.

Why do you keep going on about fairness? It's a business. They'll do whatever makes them the most money.

How do you explain literally every other country in the world then? If this was such a profitable model why is it exclusive to the UK? I don't think it is about making more money, it's just about getting high chart positions.

Yay for Sigala reaching #1 anyway.

yeah I'm starting to wish certain labels kept their releases held back, it's a shame to see so many songs flopping simply because of their release strategy (Blonde, Gorgon City, Carly Rae Jepsen, Duke Dumont and others could have all gone top 40). It's good to see some OA/OS successes though, it would be ridiculous to hold back a single by 1D/Calvin Harris/Justin Bieber in 2015.

So some of these songs are flopping because of their release strategy? Is it nothing to do with the fact they aren't relating with the public?

It is refreshing seeing these convos in 2015 I always thought it was just me and DB who supported OAOS but I guess it's just because I went on non stop about it :P

I would say yes. Carly Rae Jepsen would be MUCH higher if she had a held back release and whilst I mostly prefer OA/OS, the fact that Capital took it off their playlist after one week due to it "not going anywhere" just says it all. Radio's not on board with these tracks yet, and the OA/OS strategy in general, and that really needs to change IMO.

I hadn't noticed.

Anyway, *Klaxon* Kwabs has entered the T100 (yes it's a Fetty Wap remix but I'll take it).

On Air On Sale blah blah yaddah yaddah we get the point! Michael Jackson getting a posthumous iTunes #1 after 6 years.

Indeed, CRJ doesn't seem to have a big enough fanbase to get a OAOS release to be huge upon release and radio hasn't bothered getting on board but it needs the airplay and that's capitals fault mainly as they are afraid to take risks. Loads of songs do well ages after release once airplay kicks in even for the dance genre like Kygo, Skrillex and Major Lazer from this year alone.

This song is also on pre-order, saw it yesterday in the mid 200s.

They need high chart positions in order to get the stupid UK media to support their records and therefore sell more copies and make more money! If the UK media changes their attitude then yes, it can work. But I think they're too used to the old way of doing things now to change.

By the way, it's only in recent years that the rest of the world has been doing OAOS and I'd argue in many cases it doesn't work there either.

Carly is at #42. So close to the top 40! :drama:

Sigala just took an almighty 8.5% lump out of Bieber [insert joke] on the last update.

Not sure what happened there!

Kygo up to#10, interested to see how that fairs with the OAOS debate, it being a mid sized release [although perhaps its a bit niche dance and not pop so probs wont get a lot of daytime airplay any hows....]

93. Stereophonics - White Lies

613. Tina Arena - Overload

Look at those local flops Stereophonics slaying *.*

Tina at least 600 places too low.

“Love Song to the Earth” is at #92. Martin is really happy at this news and is hoping that it charts on Friday so the obscenely long artist credit gets to screw up his database!
