I sent almost everyone a reminder. I've been busy and the deadline is in the opening post!

It's cool. I had the ingenuity to remind myself. x

Did everyone vote?

Nope. we actually had a lot of non voters this month.

Ajanaeda

Avalonia

Bignia

Desbuanda (His reasons are known though so I doubt he will receive a ban)

Farc

Sandénia

Patvia

Pavel

I received my reminder 3 hours before midnight, are we not supposed to be given a reminder 24 hours prior?

I've only just finished work so haven't been able to send my votes sooner, I can do then when I get home if this is okay...

You've had over a week to vote, unfortunatley I decided to get drunk last night and have spent the entire day feeling sorry for myself.

but the rules state that reminders should be sent out 24 hour prior? if I had seen the reminder sooner I would have sent my votes sooner but have been at work so only saw the message recently

will you please accept my votes when I get in?

There's nothing in the rules about reminders being mandatory,.

I've stated in my opening post when the deadline was and you've had almost a week to send them in, I sympathise with yourself but I can't accept votes that are late due to me not accepting Klumzee & Math's votes last contest and it's only fair.

It's nothing against yourself, I'm just remaining consistent.

i've always been told (right back to when i hosted) that sending a reminder 24 hours to the deadline was compulsory? can a moderator please clarify this. i mean, what is the purpose of sending one THREE HOURS before the deadline and then refusing to accept votes under six hours after sending that reminder. are we in a RULES ARE THE RULES AND THOSE ARE THE RULES SO BOW DOWN situation much like the rate?!

50+ countries managed to vote on time without reminders.

I don't understand how you / anyone can complain when you've had over a week to vote and you've chosen to wait until the last minute. I accept I should have no personal life to please everyone by sending a 24 hour reminder because you don't follow the details from the opening post. Sometimes in life Buzzjack is not my main priority and unfortuantley I've been busy enjoying my last week of freedom. The opening post states when the deadline was and it also states that NO late votes will be accepted.

When I hosted. Non voters were still deducted but because I didn't send out reminders 24hours before the deadline (or at all whoops) the non-voters didn't recieve a ban.

Yet I got one yesterday morning

A lot has changed since 1986.

For christ's sake WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE TO ANYONE'S LIFE if votes are accepted LONG before the results but a little after an arbitrary deadline? Some of you people have such ridiculous hard ons for rules for the sake of rules and consistency for the sake of consistency.

The point of a deadline is it gives a point to cluster around where you can be sure you will have most of the votes. It isn't something that exists because DIVINE FATE insists bad things happen if you submit after it. There's no loss from having a small window of flexibility around the original deadline so long as it doesn't affect when results happen.

Our deity Dinah Nah will make them all La La La!

When I hosted I only had 1 non voter, and if he voted after midnight I probably would have accepted it, as I had everything already to go, it wouldn't be that hard to implement the late voter. And to be honest, those 8 non boters could have made a huge difference to the final score, rather than having the final scoreboard looking a little bit messy with all the deductions. Surely it doesn't take that long to PM a few members 24 hours before the deadline. But hey ho I guess its up to the host.

As far as I'm aware reminders aren't compulsory, hence why sometimes they get sent 3 hours before a deadline, some get sent 48 hours before the deadline (such as me when eagerly hosting BJSC 49 and then I gave everyone a 24 hour one as well :kink:) and some don't get sent at all. With all deadlines now being 11.59pm, there shouldn't really be an excuse of not knowing the deadline as all it takes is one quick look in the thread to see which day the deadline is on. Reminders are nice and we've obviously been taking them for granted, but they shouldn't be necessary and they take much longer to do than people think even with moderator CC functions as many usernames have special characters meaning they all have to be copy and pasted in.

Regarding the after deadline vote discussion, I've always been on the side of "a deadline is a deadline" as otherwise it just encourages more and more people to vote late with the expectation they'll get accepted which can cause annoyance to the hosts who are trying to do loads of results preparation at the same time. But that's just me!
