I wish this had a bit more to it, like the chorus could perhaps have a few more lines than just 'I'm alive' repeated. Plus, I do love her voice, but even I think it gets a bit strained at points here!

It's good and all (and will probably grow), but it doesn't hold a candle to Chandelier.

So, nobody wants a Sia song now?

This sounds good on first listen, but not memorable at all. Also, it sounds as if she broke her throat belting those notes from 3:25 to 3:55.

you all need to shut up because this is immediately top five of the year
Yeah this is perfect. That chorus is everything!

Simple as the chorus might be i'll be DAMNED if it doesn't hit hard! Liking this track a loooot

this is absolutely outstanding, the vocal cracks aren't a sign of an inability to sing are they really, it just adds to the emotion of the song. you can really see how she writes as a means of escape from depression. hence why she resonates so notably and intensely.

QUEEN OF LIFE

Could you imagine if Adele said yes to sing this song
Am I the only one who can't really see this as an Adele song? I've tried to imagine her singing this song and I really can't imagine it.
This could possibly be Sia's greatest post-We Are Born song. Time will tell if it ages well, but I'm ADDICTED to it at the moment. It deserves to be massive.

Ok this is really growing on me! Still really miss the "old" Sia though </3
It's decent but Chandelier does this kinda thing so much better! Chorus is a bit too repetitive and it's not actually that pleasant to listen to Sia's voice cracking all over the place. I was hoping for something a bit more Adele-like rather than 'vaguely resembles RITD's beat' as this is very nu-Sia by numbers for me :(

I agree with every point here...except I've started to really like the song despite everything after further listens. It all took a lot of getting used to but the sheer emotion driving the vocal cracks and straining has now outweighed their unpleasantness to the ear, even in that exposed section towards the end :magic:. I do find it a bit ridiculous that this of all tracks is leading an album in which Sia's 'acting' as other people, when to me everything about it sounds like a perfectly executed parody of herself! Not sure how any aspect of it fits with Adele (other than the RITD-esque beat, as said above) and yeah, I'm also really struggling to imagine her singing it. Would love to hear Adele's version though (and I'd probably prefer it) but Sia said in the interview posted earlier that Adele requested her demo not be sent around, so it's unlikely to ever surface. -_-

good post (as per usual)

I've concluded the verses are v Adele but that chorus is all sia (she even mentioned how she got that refrain of 'I'm still breathing' which dominates, from 'america's next top model') comparing sia to her past these days, in my eyes, is like comparing gaga to gaga at her height, albeit less ostentatiously.

sia is the pop queen and this song really stands out in the dismal climate. I like my pop to take me to a whole other place and this more than follows through

I agree regarding the verses & chorus.

The song is huge and I'm sure the video will be massive. 'Alive' really needs to smash worldwide because it's an incredible song and deserves to do well.

Amazing post! :D Sia is saving pop music one song at a time. Really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album after this little gem.
