I've taken part in one other online competition and the Host would always have to be the first one to vote - usually within the first 24 hours - and would have to hand in their votes to one of the Mods. This prevents vote tampering with the Host's set of votes and I've always thought we've lacked this in here. I don't think the Mods should get everyone's sets of votes - one would assume a friend of a friend wouldn't alter their votes again after all this.

Surely a "bribe" would imply that Joe was benefiting in some way, which he was not. While the punishments need to be strong so this doesn't happen again, they can't be too strong or else people will be too afraid to report incidents like this when they do happen.

Yeah, maybe 'bribe' is not the word, but I guess you know what I meant. But the second part you're saying definitely makes sense, so I'm happy to quit the drama.

Recently we were made aware that this may not be an isolated incident, and that the semi-final result of the same contest has been manipulated to ensure that one nation DNQ'd. Having fully investigated we can, regrettably, confirm that this was indeed the case.

 

As a result of this we have elected to extend the 6 month participation ban to a permanent ban from BJSC and associated activities.

How could that happen when Lee couldn't have even seen semi votes coming in as he wasn't collecting semi results? :unsure:

I'm not gonna lie, it would have been on the list of potentials for 79 had it not been sent the month before

I also think moving on is a separate thing from forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn't really mean anything without proper contrition and a sign that they've learned from this. All we've had is an 'I've fucked up once look I'm not bad' defensive rant after just denials, mockery and a lack of co-operation with the mods who've had to sort this out. We haven't really had anything that goes anywhere near showing that Lee has learned anything from this other than feeling shit. As a starter, what would show that would be total openness about what he did (or if there was anything else he did - now's the time to tell us if so, if someone wants forgiveness), why he did it and why it won't happen again.

 

 

This was a one off event though. I got greedy and thought I was invincible with so much BJSC success over the summer. Nothing else I have added up for The Lounge or BJSC has been impacted at all. Everyone can confirm that from their BJSC votes in other months and other mods have added up the rate too.

And this is the point at which I think Lee should be removed as moderator.

 

There's cheating in the first place. Then there's denying it when exposed. Then there's taking the piss and mocking and evading any apology until basically forced to. That is crap behaviour, but the punishment fitted for that and if it had been left at that this could have been brushed over and moved on. But lying and continuing to lie when given the opportunity to tell the whole truth as a basis for forgiveness is unacceptable really.
