I think it goes with the music industry, there are always "overrated" artists, and yes Adele might be "overrated" in the way that her sales are quite over the top really, but I'm glad it happens to Adele because she IS amazing and she IS really talented, so if there's one artist to be overrated, I rather want that artist to be Adele.

Didn't all the Adele madness start with the X Factor and the revival of "Make you feel my love"? The song originally peaked at 26 in 2008, but it was massively used in X Factor 2010 and peaked at 4 during the series, a few weeks before the 21 era started.

19 did well but Chasing pavements was her only top10, the following singles did struggle, until "Make you feel my love" was pushed by the X Factor two years later. I'm sure it played a massive role in her career.

Big releases like this are usually hyped up for good reason imo. Hello is stunning, and I am far from a major Adele fan. I thought 21 was mostly dull!

It's the same when Beyoncé's most recent album was praised to the heaven's and above ... it initially put me off, but it was totally deserved also.

Adele is so pretty!

I'd agree with all that. Then of course Someone Like You At The Brits and the rest as they say is history. I don't think 21 would have been half as big if SLY hadn't existed so there wouldn't be so much buzz around her new stuff. Anyone agree?

Totally agreed. I imagine if 'Set Fire to the Rain' had been the second single, 21 would have went like... 5x Plat, maybe?

Can I just say that this sounds like something that would have been on 19 but a tad bit stronger? Kinda speaks for her consistency in quality - just superb.

Interesting you think that as I was comparing it to something that could go between Turning Tables and Set Fire To The Rain :P

I think the issue is more when people come in and say 'people only don't like this because....' and the opposite.

I stated that I'm not a fan of Adele's music and though I can see why many would love Hello, I personally will not be listening to it an awful lot. I didn't dissect why people would like it, I just accepted their opinion. And then a poster just dismissed my opinion because being a Pink fan makes it invalid.

Oop, exactly the same as me!!

The prse turned me off t album and so I refused to listen till XO and saw it was her best with Sasha Fierce.

I also only like the singles on 21

I find it riveting that they went with Rolling in the Deep for the first single of 21 knowing that Someone Like You was on the album. That was a very risky decision but I think I heard Adele pushed for that. I wonder if there is a song that will connect to the GP like SLY on 25? Industry insiders seem to think the album is incredible, so I'm excited to see what's next.

I think Hello is absolutely incredible by the way. Definitely one of her best. I've heard people say it could have been on 21 but I kind of disagree. I think there's an obvious shift in style from 21 as a collective and hello, but I also do agree that if the song had been on the album, it would have only served to make 21 stronger and would have been one of the singles.

I'm guessing that they just wanted to save 'Someone Like You' for the BRITs? (A very good decision ~)

Then again, her even being on the BRITs was a bit strange since she wasn't up for any awards so I guess they'd probably not have known about it that early. Not like 'RITD' was a bad choice anyway!

I'm also excited to see what's next. Adele's explanation behind SLY on her tour DVD was she needs at least one song she believes and moves her so she has the knowledge the public can listen to her music and believe it. So without a doubt I definitely think shes got another Hometown Glory/Someone Like You up her sleeve that shes proud of etc. Then again coming from the woman who scrapped her whole third album about being a Mum because it was boring, who knows what to expect :P

Just ftr, I never even said I dislike the song. I think it's really good. Technically stunning even. I just know I'll get bored of it really soon. And, yes, everyone creaming their pants over Adele and her overexposure right now doesn't help things.

I bet that most of the people who claim to hate or dislike the song would say they love it and how unfair the buying public is if this was to peak outside the top 20. But that's just my interpretation of things.

I don't get it.

she said in an interview with Carson Daley yday that her fav song on the album is track 4 (can't remember the name) and she hasn't rehearsed it yet without crying so I'm sure that will be a killa ballad ala sly

She told Nick Grimshaw on the R1 morning show that her favourite is called When We Were Young and was one of the tracks she did with Tobias Jesso Jr.
