November 14, 20159 yr i'm hearing of so many friends of friends who have been killed or injured it's absolutely crazy. these are all places that i've eaten and drank and had a great time at and to think that at so many points in the past it could have been me or my friends just boggles my mind. i've never felt so ridiculously far away from the people i love and it's horrible. (not to make it about ME or anything but......)

(not to make it about ME or anything but......) My thoughts go out to you, mate and again to the families of every innocent person who died and was injured in those attacks. A British victim has been named in the last few minutes. U2 have cancelled their two performances there. Footballer Lassana Diarra has said in a statement that he lost a cousin in the attacks. The England v France match on Tuesday will go ahead. Also apparently Belgian police have arrested three people on Saturday most likely behind the attacks.
November 14, 20159 yr The weird thing for me was that I don't know anyone with any connections to Paris so my first thought was whether 152chris was okay.
November 14, 20159 yr At one time I used to have cousins on my dad's side of the family living somewhere in/around Paris.....dunno if they're still there or not...I do know I still have some relations around Bordeaux....
November 14, 20159 yr I'm sorry to hear that Chris :( 129 dead and 98 critical is the latest confirmed figures apparently. Add this to Beruit, Baghdad, Japan... And it's been a horrific week for humanity.
November 14, 20159 yr knee-jerk reactions follow terrorism, which is what they want. The terrorists want to make the West frightened, to stir up hatred and make things as awful and difficult as possible, because the more things get bad in the West the more power they get because the more disenfranchised and suffering people there are, the more likely it is they will join radical causes. Even if the terrorists have come from IS overland, that doesn't mean the tens of thousands of people running away from war and murder in their homelands should have the West turn their backs on them, that just means additional potential converts to the IS cause once people see the West is just mouthing platitudes and hypocrisy about democracy and equality and aid. As for declaring War on IS, errr the UK, The USA, Russia, Syrian troops, France, Iraqi troops are they not already carrying out military actions there? What are they proposing to do, nuke the whole area and take out everyone in the Middle East? As for Netherlands, so I presume they are also at war with Russia, or does that downed passenger airline not count as far as Dutch victims are concerned. Or is that OK to kill planefull's of people as long as someone says "oops, it wasn't me, honest!" instead of "Allah is Glorious" Sanity is needed, not bloodlust.
November 14, 20159 yr Author What a twat Donald Trump is! Edit: this was from January and not tonight The tweet was, indeed, from January. Sadly, he hasn't changed his mind. http://thehill.com/policy/national-securit...-civilians-were
November 15, 20159 yr Just found out my friends wife and child perished in these attacks. For what? So terrible. Hearts are shattered over hate, families ended over hate. Sickening. :(

I agree with everything you've said. The killing of our own loved ones generates only fear and the eye for revenge. We're in an awful mess, I hope we can terminate the threat without scapegoating Muslims and the entire Middle East. Let us be the opposite of what Donald Trump would consider a solution. Even with the best intentions and grace... It's a thin line to balance upon. Unfortunately, we are surrounded by leaders looking for a reason to retaliate with deadly force. November 15, 20159 yr We can't give in to fear and panic which is exactly what ISIS want. There are already way too many disgusting people here in Russia who laugh at what happened because apparently they deserved it since europe didn't care when ISIS caused the crash of the saint Petersburg plane a few weeks ago. Its a ridiculous claim and these people are such scum I have no words. We are all people living on this earth together. Ugh.
November 15, 20159 yr The pro-gun lobby in the US terrify the shit out of me. These are people with actual power who could not be more delusional if they tried. Every year gun control saves thousands of innocent European lives. Perhaps they should stick to fixing their own house before commenting on ours.
November 15, 20159 yr You are arguing over constitutional rights. If you were to tell people you couldn't carry guns in America, it would cause another civil war. Regardless, America and its stances on gun control have nothing to do with terrorist attacks. Americans killing each other is a whole other issue all together. And this is coming from the liberal American.
November 15, 20159 yr Hearing yesterday insensitive jokes from a bunch of 13-14 year olds saying about how they would like to be "blown up" and laughing about it.

Doesn't anyone remember that an attack on one EU state is a declaration of war on ALL? It's good that other states declared war, shows the alliance working. If China, Brasil and Russia all put their words to actions, a true international response can be brought to combat ISIS. Edited November 15, 20159 yr by Merry Peenmass!!
November 15, 20159 yr There will be a minute's silence tomorrow in the UK at 11:00 and 12:00 in Paris.

November 15, 20159 yr Declaring war on someone is not a GOOD thing under any circumstances. :/ Agreed. The last thing any of us want is another war :///
November 15, 20159 yr Agreed. The last thing any of us want is another war :/// Air campaigns in Syria and Irak, the biggest refugee crisis since WW2 and responses in the foem of cowardly terrorist attacks against Beirut, Tunisia, tourists, Europe and Russia don't constitute a war already? The Italian pm has even gone so far as to call it WW3.
November 15, 20159 yr Agreed. The last thing any of us want is another war :/// I'd have thought the last thing any of us want is another attack like this. Obviously going in gung-ho without specific strategic objectives is stupid, but we shouldn't rule out war on the basis of some naive 'WAR IS BAD!!!!' sentiment. One side is more than happy to act is if it is at war with us already.
