As for my opinion on 'Stevie Knows'... it's not as terrible as I thought it would be based on the comments in this thread. If anything I find it bland? The overall sound of it is quite typical & tired for Olly at this point.

I've quite made peace with the fact I seem to like stuff which doesn't have an artist forum and/or a thread totalling the 20+ mark in pages on these parts a long time ago. Just seeing the criticism that comes back is always funny to read.

I am somehow getting Robbie Williams 'Rock DJ' teas based on the above! Has been confirmed he's performing the single on the New Year's Eve episode of TFI Friday as well!

This is easily his worst single. Decent enough to be tacked on to a re-release, but it's an embarrassing choice for a single. I think he usually makes good choices for singles, but this era hasn't really gone how I would have liked it.

 

I would have gone with this:

 

1. Did You Miss Me

2. Up

3. Wrapped Up

4. Never Been Better

(5. Seasons)

6. Kiss Me

 

I haven't listened to the repackage yet, so I'm not sure what the follow up to 'Kiss Me' would be.

 

Hey do you know what, it actually isn't half bad :D this is still nothing special though.

Everything about his recent output is just so lackluster and has little effort put into it, c'mon Olly, you're better than this.

It's definitely one of his worst singles unfortunately, a shame when Kiss Me is one of his best. Nice video though, but I can't see it being much of a hit.

I actually grew to like Kiss Me quite a lot... but this is pretty dire tbf.

I would have gone with Stick With Me. That is begging to be released!!

Came here to make this exact post. "Seasons" and "Dear Darlin'" were my least favourite singles from him previously but this surpasses both, it's offensively s***.

 

(I say this as a huge supporter of "Marvin Gaye" which has equally naff lyrics I guess, but this has none of the charm that makes me love that)

About that - and I make no apologies for the fact that I sound like I'm leaping to his defence here - what a load of bollocks. The media are trying to use his supposed 'mistakes' as a stick to beat him with at every turn but the British public are not stupid. The man made a mistake, everyone does, he apologised for it even when he didn't need to but it's pure tall poppy syndrome, they haven't been able to stomach his previous success to now. 'Kiss Me' still did well and the repack of the album has done well too. Jesus if his career was 'over' as you supposedly say he'd have been dropped after every single that didn't go top 10. He's not going anywhere!

Exactly. He goes back to the studio to start album 5 in the new year and the first single off that will be out in the summer just as he does some new live dates (Cork in July, there's a few others TBA as well).

I think musically the track itself isn't that bad, a bit Jamiroquai funk-esque. It had the potential there, it's just a shame that the song itself (particularly lyrically) is shocking.

 

He has released a couple of worse singles though, such as the likes of 'Oh My Goodness' and 'Seasons'.
