I really hope we keep KMag on a mid term contract. He's a good driver and has proven to be a podium scorer in a capable car. I'm not really fussed for the other seat. We're gonna be mid pack next year so rookie or palmer is ok with me. We've got like three years before we're in a position to fight to win

I can see them keeping Magnussen at Renault not too sure about the second driver though.

Esteban Ocon potentially? I'd say he's need a few standout performances at Manor (difficult to achieve admittedly) to make a genuine push for Palmer's seat though.

Probably can see Ocon moving to Renault possibly a outside shot Perez.

It's a fair shout but he's under contract with Merc and was only on loan to Renault as their third driver. So if he was to move, Merc would need to relinquish control first!

That's not beyond the realms of possibility though as they do have Werhlin (that's spelled sooooo wrong) on their track as well. Plus Daimler, the actual legal name of Mercedes-Benz, and Renault actually own a little bit (1.5%) of each other and cooperate on a whole host of actual road cars. Renault build the new Smart cars on the Twingo platform and Infiniti (of Red Bull fame, a posh brand owned by Nissan that does well in the US and China - Renault & Nissan are BFFs with Renault owning 40% of Nissan and Nissan 15% of Renault) working closely with Merc on small cars like the new A-Class and stealing big engines for the states.

TL;DR - Ocon is Mercs but the actual car companies at play here are super friendly so a move isn't impossible.

I think Magnussen and Ocon will be at Renault next year. I think Sky even suggested the possibility that both current Manor drivers could go to Renault next year, but I think Renault will want to keep one of their current drivers on so they can test their new driver against them. I'd personally prefer to see Wehrlein get the promotion rather than Ocon if it is just one of them, give Ocon a proper year at Manor first.

Another Mercedes lockdown on the front row in Malaysia.

Give us some rain in Sepang please.

It's not over till the fat lady sings...

Anyway on a positive note YES at Ricciardo getting a win :cheer: a great fight in the middle between him & Max - was sure that was gonna end in tears.

Happy for Palmer to score his maiden point too.

Fantastic indeed at Ricciardo getting a win there. A slightly weird start with the lights taking an age and the timings not working and also Channel 4 commentator Ben Edwards not spotting the first-corner clash with Vettel and Rosberg.

It's Rosberg's title to lose now.

Super happy for Dani Ric!!! Great for Jolyon to finally score a point as well. Beyond thrilled hamiltons engine exploded. Cheats never prosper! I hope the other engine he stacked suffers the same fate

Of course he does because the world revolves around him and anything that doesn't even slightly go his way is the entire universe conspiring against him which is wrong because he's gods gift to humanity.

He's a complete and utter c**t. I don't recall him saying anything when Rosberg was having reliability issues last year that gave him the championship

Nico didn't say anything when he had reliability issues last season for me. I really hope Nico goes on to win the title.

He's like the 'Superbrat' of F1 is, Hamilton.

Rosberg wasn't even in contention last year so reliability wouldn't have played a huge part.

I highly doubt there's any foul play going on (not that it wouldn't be the first case of this in recent years ) but it would be a shame to see the title decided on reliability issues regardless of who you support. It reminds me of 2005 where Kimi had the faster car but so many failures let him down.

I'll be surprised if Sauber keep both of their drivers next season they just never really looked like they'll move up the grid.

Indeed he is.

Sadly the truth is he's also a pretty decent driver. So much so that despite his cheating, his lying, his whiny and self important attitude and his occasionally dubious tactics he still makes my top 20 drivers of all time.

Which actually kind of upsets me.

He's a decent driver but the all the attributes that you have mentioned, Severin which I fully agree with. He'll go down as one of the best drivers we're seen according to pundits.

Where would put Wehrlein in a seat for next year?

Looking likely somehow that Marcus Ericsson will remain at Sauber next year. Bit surprised about that.
